Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (knee) suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in Week 10 and will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list.

Huddle Up: As expected, Palmer is out for the year. Drew Stanton takes over as the Cardinals starter. He's nothing more than a QB2 for fantasy purposes.

  • Posted: 11/9/2014 8:17pm ET

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (knee) is believed to have a torn anterior cruciate ligament. However, head coach Bruce Arians would not reveal the severity of Palmer's knee injury Sunday, Nov. 9.

Huddle Up: Multiple reports have Palmer out for the season. If so, Drew Stanton will take over the 8-1 Cardinals. For fantasy purposes, Stanton is more of a game manager and nothing more than a QB2.

  • Posted: 11/7/2014 6:45pm ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer agreed to a 3-year extension worth $50 million Friday, Nov. 7. He was set to be a free agent after this season.

Huddle Up: The Cards have been searching for QB stability and they've found it in the veteran Palmer, who's 15-6 as a starter since the beginning of last season. Palmer isn't doing too shabby, fantasy-wise, either as he currently ranks eighth among QBs with his average of 23.13 fantasy points per game.

  • Posted: 10/22/2014 12:07am ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) threw at team headquarters Tuesday, Oct. 21 and is 'real close' to 100 percent, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Huddle Up: Palmer is a combined 50-of-75 for 503 yards, 4 TDs and a pick in the two games since returning from his month-plus absence and is poised to keep rolling Sunday against a Philly defense surrendering the fourth most fantasy points to opposing QBs.

  • Posted: 10/16/2014 9:58am ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant for practice Wednesday, Oct. 15, due to his right shoulder ailment.

Huddle Up: Expect Palmer to practice on a limited basis the rest of the season as he deals with the nerve issue in his shoulder. The move is precautionary, however, and he should be good to go at game time this weekend.

  • Posted: 10/14/2014 12:38am ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) said the pain subsided enough for him to get a good night's rest after the team's Week 6 win Sunday, Oct. 12, and head coach Bruce Arians said Palmer's nerve in his right shoulder didn't regress after playing against the Washington Redskins. "I was concerned until I saw him today," Arians said. "And then now he feels great, so we should just get better and better and just get stronger. Arians is hopeful that Palmer will take part in all practices this week.

Huddle Up: Palmer came back strong Sunday after a month on the sideline to complete 28-of-44 passes for 250 and two scores without a turnover in the win over Washington. Not so coincidentally, WRs Michael Floyd (4-47) and Larry Fitzgerald (6-98) both caught their first TD passes of the season Sunday, and a healthy Palmer clearly gives them the best chance for fantasy success.

  • Posted: 10/7/2014 9:25pm ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) could practice as soon as Thursday, Oct. 9, if his shoulder responds well after throwing Tuesday, Oct. 7, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Huddle Up: Coach Bruce Arians says the veteran QB will need to get through a full practice before he can see his first action since Week 1, so keep an eye on the desert developments over the next couple days.

  • Posted: 10/6/2014 7:58pm ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder nerve) will need to go through a full practice this week before returning to action in Week 6, according to head coach Bruce Arians. Palmer will cut down on individual drills so that he can focus on team work.

Huddle Up: The Cards, who lost Drew Stanton to a concussion and were down to rookie third-string QB Logan Thomas on Sunday, could really use Palmer, who's been out since the opener. Still, this nerve issue sounds like something that will heal on its own time, so there's really no telling when the QB will be ready.

  • Posted: 10/2/2014 2:16pm ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer has been diagnosed with an axillary-nerve contusion in his shoulder but should be able to continue his current rehab program. There is a chance that Palmer could be the backup quarterback in Week 5.

Huddle Up: In short, expect Drew Stanton to start Sunday and likely Week 6 as well.

  • Posted: 10/1/2014 8:56pm ET

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) isn't being ruled out for Week 5 against the Denver Broncos by head coach Bruce Arians. Arians said Palmer is doubtful to return to practice Thursday, Oct. 2, but if he can return Friday, Oct. 3, there's a chance he can start against the Broncos. If Palmer doesn't practice Friday, QB Drew Stanton would receive his third straight start. After throwing for two days last week, Palmer's shoulder regressed. The team is treating his injury week-to-week, and the team isn't close to considering putting him on the short-term Reserve/Injured list.

Huddle Up: If Palmer plays it would give a fantasy boost to Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd. Drew Stanton has played well in Palmer's absence but he doesn't get the ball down the field as much. Expect Stanton to be under center against Denver.

  • Posted: 10/1/2014 6:01pm ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) was excused from practice Wednesday, Oct. 1, in order to see another specialist regarding the nerve issue in his shoulder, according to head coach Bruce Arians. 'He threw a bunch last Thursday and Friday and then regressed,' Arians said.

Huddle Up: Despite the Cards' Week 4 bye, it's starting to look and sound as if Drew Stanton will get a third straight start Sunday in Denver.

  • Posted: 9/30/2014 10:48am ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) said the nerve in his shoulder hasn't progressed as much as he'd hoped, but he thinks he could prove capable of starting.

Huddle Up: Better hit the brakes on any plans to return Palmer to your fantasy lineup this week, as the Cards have been just fine with Drew Stanton at the helm and would have no problems going back to him this week. And Stanton has proven capable of keeping all the Arizona wideouts--John Brown as well as Michael Floyd and Larry Fitzgerald--fantasy relevant.

  • Posted: 9/29/2014 7:21pm ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer's (shoulder) status for Week 5 will depend on if he is able to participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 1, and Thursday, Oct. 2, according to head coach Bruce Arians. Palmer probably will play if he is able to practice Wednesday.

Huddle Up: Something to keep an eye on if you've been holding on to Palmer through the Cards' bye week. If he can't go, Drew Stanton will get the call for a third straight game.

  • Posted: 9/24/2014 10:27am ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) said the nerve in his shoulder feels better, and he expects to play in Week 5 after the bye week. He expects to throw this week.

Huddle Up: Palmer would be a sneaky add during the Cardinals' bye, as he'll be throwing to some elite receivers in a pass-heavy offense--all the reasons he was a solid sleeper fantasy QB heading into the season.

  • Posted: 9/18/2014 10:02am ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 17.

Huddle Up: Palmer is dealing with a nerve issue that is expected to keep him out of action for an as-yet undetermined length of time. Drew Stanton will fill in while Palmer is out, which does nick the fantasy value of Michael Floyd and Larry Fitzgerald going forward--more so Floyd than Fitz, at least based on last week's targets.

  • Posted: 9/17/2014 9:59pm ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton is in line to start his second straight game against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3 with QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) sidelined.

Huddle Up: Stanton played pretty well against the Giants. However, he doesn't possess the same arm strength as Palmer to get the ball down the field to his wide receivers. The 49ers secondary can be exploited but Stanton is no better than a low-end QB2 this week.

  • Posted: 9/17/2014 6:20pm ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) is believed to be improving steadily, and the team likes the quarterbacks on their roster, so they will not be looking to add a QB from outside the organization.

Huddle Up: Good news in the sense that the Cards must feel Palmer's return isn't too far off, but nerve injuries can be tricky and slower in healing so have patience and a clear backup plan if you're waiting on the veteran QB.

  • Posted: 9/17/2014 12:02am ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer's (shoulder) timetable to return from a nerve injury in his shoulder could vary greatly, according to head coach Bruce Arians. 'It takes some time,' Arians said. 'Could be a day, could be a month.'

Huddle Up: Not what the fantasy owners of the Cards' pass-catchers needed to hear as it's certainly a drop-off down to No. 2 QB Drew Stanton. Maybe, though, Palmer's absence will fall on the short end of the range or Stanton will show marked improvement in his next start, so don't go making any rash moves just yet.

  • Posted: 9/15/2014 9:08pm ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) continues to seek treatment for a nerve injury in his right shoulder Monday, Sept. 15, and head coach Bruce Arians is concerned that Palmer's injury could lead to long-term damage. Palmer's status for Week 3 against the San Francisco 49ers is undecided. Arians said Palmer could suit up against the Niners even if he doesn't practice all week.

Huddle Up: The Cards and their pass-catchers could certainly use Palmer. Drew Stanton started but struggled in Week 2, completing less than 50 percent of his passes (14-of-29) and throwing for 167 yards in the 25-14 win over the Giants. Palmer's status doesn't sound overly promising, but see what develops this week.

  • Posted: 8/8/2014 12:50am ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer wants to be knocked down in the preseason because it prepares his body for the regular season. He said he wants to get the soreness out of the way during the preseason.

Huddle Up: Carson must not have gotten enough last season when he was sacked 41 times -- the eighth-most by any QB in 2013. The Cards do expect to have an improved offensive front with the addition of LT Jared Veldheer and 2013 first-round pick Jonathan Cooper's return from injury, and they'll need it with 6 games against division foes Seattle, San Fran and St. Louis.

  • Posted: 6/15/2014 4:00pm ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer will become an unrestricted free agent in 2015.

Huddle Up: Palmer, who threw for a career-high 4,274 yards last season, will turn 35 in December, but the Cards don't currently have their future starting QB on the roster, unless fourth-round pick Logan Thomas develops quicker than expected.

  • Posted: 5/6/2014 7:39pm ET

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer's comfort level with the offense is expected to show in 2014 and pay huge dividends, according to general manager Steve Keim and head coach Bruce Arians.

Huddle Up: There's a good chance the Cards could draft a young QB to develop this week, but don't sleep too long on Palmer in fantasy drafts as it won't take much of an improvement for the veteran to make a strong push for No. 1 QB status after throwing for a career-high 4,274 yards last fall in his debut season in the desert.
