The Houston Chronicle reports Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said QB Rex Grossman will be the team's No. 2 quarterback entering Week 1.
The Huddle Take: With Grossman beating out fellow backup Dan Orlovsky, he's now an injury away from leading the Texans' offense. With Schaub's history and his current tweaked ankle, that distance isn't as long as many might believe.

Drew Dougherty, of HoustonTexans.com, reports Houston Texans QB Rex Grossman has closed the gap on QB Dan Orlovsky for the team's No. 2 quarterback duties. Grossman led the Texans on five scoring drives during the preseason and was 9-of-16 for 197 yards passing.
The Huddle Take: Grossman was a starter for a Super Bowl team a couple years ago; Orlovsky was a third-stringer for a squad that went 0-16. So it's not all that surprising that Grossman is moving into position to be the go-to guy if (when?) something happens to Matt Schaub.

CBSSports.com reports Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said QB Rex Grossman is expected to play in the team's final preseason game Friday, Sept. 4.
The Huddle Take: With Matt Schaub already nursing an injury, the Texans will want to see if Grossman and/or Dan Orlovsky can successfully step into the void created by Schaub's annual injury.

HoustonTexans.com, reports Houston Texans QB Dan Orlovsky appears to have an edge over QB Rex Grossman for the backup job entering training camp.
The Huddle Take: Regardless of who ends up backing up Matt Schaub in Houston it would be hard to consider either fantasy relevent if they are pressed into service. The story here would likely be to stay away from Houston quarterbacks if Schaub is injured and misses time since the offense will have trouble hitting on all cylinders without him. Schaub should be considered a solid No. 2 quarterback for fantasy teams with nice upside if he can remain on the field all season.

Steve Wyche, of NFL.com, reports Houston Texans QB Rex Grossman likely will compete with QB Dan Orlovsky for the team's primary backup quarterback job.
The Huddle Take: The Texas would like a solid option behind Matt Schaub, who has demonstrated a propensity for injury during his brief tenure as Houston's starter. While neither Grossman nor Orlovsky is a confidence-inspiring starter, either could step in for a game or two and—given the Texans' talented supporting cast—hold down the fort.
