The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports Green Bay Packers LB Nick Barnett (knee) expressed disappointment on his Twitter page that he failed his pre-training camp physical. Barnett wrote, Ill be back. This is just a small delay. Head coach Mike McCarthy said, I couldn't tell you (when Barnett will back). It's just really on how he tests. Its just a normal process. Nick has been working exclusively with the trainers (all offseason). Now its time for Nick Barnett and (inside linebackers coach) Winston Moss to get more into the football drills with the coach as opposed to the trainer, because it goes to a different level (in training camp). He just has to take that next step. LB Brandon Chillar or LB Desmond Bishop will work with No. 1 defense while Barnett is out.
The Huddle Take: IDP owners should take note of this situation, but not be too conserned yet. Barnett is a veteran who knows what is expected and should be able to be ready to go by the time the season starts. Still, it would be much nicer if there were no issue here at all, as it makes one think that maybe Barnett's motivation is somewhat questionable this year.
