Jamison Hensley, of The Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Ravens TE L.J. Smith was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 17, but he is questionable for Week 2. There is a good chance he will play in the game.
The Huddle Take: Smith's only fantasy role at this juncture would be to steal looks from the resurgent Todd Heap.

Aaron Wilson, of the National Football Post, reports Baltimore Ravens TE L.J. Smith is considered a question mark for the team's Week 1 game, but he will probably be sidelined.
The Huddle Take: This is a stunning development along the lines of "sun rises in the east", as Smith has spent the better part of his career nicked up. Smith was signed to back up Todd Heap, who himself has hardly been a bastion of health throughout his NFL career.

CBSSports.com reports Baltimore Ravens TE L.J. Smith (hamstring) left the teams preseason game Monday, Aug. 24, with a pulled hamstring. He is not expected to return to the game.
The Huddle Take: Smith is likely the No. 2 tight end in Baltimore, but with Todd Heap's injury history could quickly become the No. 1 if his hamstring injury doesn't prove to be serious.
Posted: 3/20/2009 4:19pm et
Updating previous reports, the Baltimore Ravens have announced they have signed unrestricted free-agent TE L.J. Smith to a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed but an earlier report stated it is worth $1.5 million.
The Huddle Take: Between Smith and Todd Heap, the Ravens should have a healthy tight end for at least half the games this year.

Updating a previous report, The Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Ravens TE L.J. Smith is expected to sign his one-year, $1.5 million contract Friday, March 20.
The Huddle Take: L.J. Smith provides another solid target for the Ravens passing attack which already has the likes of Derrick Mason and Mark Clayton. Fantasy owners should keep in mind that Smith has run into some injury problems in the past but should post some nice numbers as long as he remains on the field.
Posted: 2/14/2009 10:41pm et
The Philadelphia Daily News reports the Eagles have no intention of bringing TE L.J. Smith back. Smith is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
The Huddle Take: Brent Celek was solid in the postseason, and the Eagles could turn to the draft for a new option at the position as well. The oft-injured Smith simply wasn't productive enough when he was on the field to warrant the salary it would take to keep him in Philly.
Posted: 1/2/2009 2:22pm et
Philadelphia Eagles TE L.J. Smith (shoulder) was limited in practice Friday, Jan. 2, and is questionable for the team's playoff game.
The Huddle Take: If Smith can't play, Brent Celek will go in place of L.J.
