Eric Williams, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Greg Knapp said the offense will not change if Seneca Wallace starts in Week 3 in place of QB Matt Hasselbeck. Knapp said Wallace received enough snaps during offseason workouts and training camp to feel comfortable in the offense.
The Huddle Take: Wallace stepped in for Hasselbeck last season and seems poised to do so again if Hass's fractured rib keeps him out of the lineup in Week 3.

The Tacoma News Tribune reports Seattle Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace believes he could be an effective starting quarterback in the NFL. 'You always have to have confidence that you can come in and be the starter on any team,' Wallace said. 'I always feel that way. Im adamant about it. And Im going to keep working to improve each day, and hopefully something happens.'
The Huddle Take: Wallace and every other second string quarterback in the NFL should feel they can be a starter. But unless Matt Hasselbeck doesn't return to full health this season, Wallace will be wearing a ballcap on the sideline most Sundays, not only this season but for at least another one or two.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports Seattle Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace's performance this season allowed him to hit an escalator that will increase his base salary for 2009, which was scheduled to be $1.5 million. Wallace started three of the team's four victories, and eight games overall, because QB Matt Hasselbeck (back) was out with a bulging disk in his back.
The Huddle Take: Wallace was a consistent contributor to the Seattle offense this season with starter Matt Hasselbeck battling injuries for much of the year. With Seattle passing the torch to a new coach in Jim Mora, expect a different offensive philosophy in which Wallace may be even more valuable if the Seahawks continue to have problems getting Hasselbeck back on the field to lead the team consistently.
