The Arizona Republic reports Arizona Cardinals QB Brian St. Pierre will enter the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 22, when QB Kurt Warner is finished with his playing time.
The Huddle Take: This is a mildly surprising bit of news, but we probably shouldn't read too much into this. Unless, of course, St. Pierre has an outstanding showing. If that's the case, then the No. 2 QB position battle in Arizona will get interesting.

The Arizona Republic reports Arizona Cardinals QB Matt Leinart likely will hold off QB Brian St. Pierre for the backup job during training camp unless he significantly struggles during camp.
The Huddle Take: The Cardinals are paying Leinart waaaay too much money to be the No. 2 guy already. They definitely won't want to pay that much for a No. 3 guy. If St. Pierre wins that spot, then Leinart needs to retire. Assuming he does keep the No. 2 spot, though, Leinart will be a must pick-up in the draft's late rounds if you take the aging (ancient?) Kurt Warner. If Warner goes down, Leinart will get the keys to one of the most powerful offenses in the NFL.

The Arizona Cardinals have announced they have re-signed unrestricted free-agent QB Brian St. Pierre to a one-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The Huddle Take: If Kurt Warner actually leaves via free agency, St. Pierre will be the backup to Matt Leinart.
