Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald managed just one reception for 22 yards in Week 1 against the San Diego Chargers Monday, Sept 8, and that catch did not come until the fourth quarter.

Huddle Up: Fitzgerald was lightly targeted, not even seeing the ball until late in the second half. Whether it was a case of Michael Floyd being more open, the Chargers rotating coverage to Fitzgerald, or something else it's one more sign of the changing of the guard in Arizona's passing game pecking order.

  • Posted: 2/4/2014 11:52pm ET

The Arizona Cardinals have created $9.4 million in salary cap space by restructuring the contract of WR Larry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald's 2015 salary cap figure has increased to $23.6 million because of the restructuring.

Huddle Up: This still doesn't necessarily rule out the Cards trading Fitz, but it does make it more likely that he'll remain with the only franchise he's known.

  • Posted: 1/30/2014 8:46pm ET

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald said he is willing to restructure his contract if that is what needs to be done. 'Absolutely. If that's what needs to be done, that's what needs to be done,' Fitzgerald said.

Huddle Up: Fitz is a frequent subject of offseason trade rumors, but he's a fan favorite in the desert, and neither side seems to have any inclination to part ways at this point.

  • Posted: 1/28/2014 11:37pm ET

The New England Patriots were interested in trading for Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald last offseason, according to a trusted source of CSNNE.com's Tom E. Curran.

Huddle Up: Fitzgerald and Brady would be quite the interesting pairing, but it's hard to envision the Cards trading away the fan favorite unless the Pats extended an offer they couldn't refuse. Definitely a rumor to track this offseason.

  • Posted: 1/2/2014 5:21pm ET

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald has an $18 million cap figure for 2014, with his salary due to increase from $5 million in 2013 to $12.75 million in 2014. Based on his current deal, Fitzgerald would account for about 14.3 percent of the team's salary cap. The team has not approached Fitzgerald's agent about a restructure, but Fitzgerald isn't interested in a pay cut. He might be open to restructuring if that converts salary into a bonus that can be prorated over the next few years.

Huddle Up: Definitely look for some kind of restructured deal for Fitzgerald, who has posted back-to-back sub-1,000-yard receiving seasons and has averaged only 11.5 yards per catch over the last 2 seasons.

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (concussion) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 19.

Huddle Up: Looks like Fitz is a go for this weekend, though a matchup with Richard Sherman will provide headaches of a different sort for both Fitzgerald and his fantasy owners.

  • Posted: 12/19/2013 10:56pm ET

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (concussion) will visit with his third neurologist of the week Friday, Dec. 20, for the last hurdle before being cleared to play in Week 16 against the Seattle Seahawks. 'No setbacks,' said Fitzgerald, who practiced fully Thursday. 'I'll be ready to go again tomorrow.' Fitzgerald expects to be cleared Friday. He said he hasn't had any concussion symptoms this week.

Huddle Up: All lights are green for Fitz at this point, although his fantasy owners' reward will be a rugged matchup against the Seahawks' pass D.

  • Posted: 12/17/2013 10:34pm ET

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said Tuesday, Dec. 17, that WR Larry Fitzgerald (concussion) will not practice Wednesday, Dec. 18, but Arians expects Fitzgerald to play in the Week 16 game against the Seattle Seahawks. Arians emphasized that the concussion protocol is ongoing for Fitzgerald.

Huddle Up: It sounds like you can begin pencilling in Fitzgerald as a starter, but the overriding concern here is the road matchup with the Seahawks' D, which allows the fewest points to opposing fantasy wideouts.

  • Posted: 12/17/2013 12:22am ET

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald passed one set of concussion tests Sunday, Dec. 15, before leaving LP Field in Nashville, but he is still going through the league's concussion protocol. Head coach Bruce Arians said Fitzgerald 'looked fine' Monday, Dec. 16, when he saw the player at the team's facility. Fitzgerald was injured during an onside kick by the Tennessee Titans with 52 seconds remaining in regulation during the Week 15 game.

Huddle Up: Fitz obviously still has a ways to go this week, so keep an eye on his daily progress reports.

  • Posted: 12/16/2013 3:56pm ET

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said WR Larry Fitzgerald (concussion) will have to go through the concussion protocol before he is cleared to play.

Huddle Up: His father tweeted that he had passed his concussion tests this morning, but that is not the case just yet. Hopefully Fitzgerald will recover in time for Sunday, but he gets Richard Sherman in Seattle if he does play.

  • Posted: 12/16/2013 10:47am ET

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (head) will be tested for a concussion Monday, Dec. 16, after a vicious hit in Week 15. He was woozy on the sideline and didn't feel well after the game.

Huddle Up: Fitz will need to go through the league-mandated concussion protocol, so we won't likely know his availability for Week 16 until Friday or Saturday.

  • Posted: 10/28/2013 2:55pm ET

Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim said the team isn't trying to trade WR Larry Fitzgerald this year despite reports Sunday, Oct. 27, that the team could trade him after this season. 'I can tell you two things, and I want to make this clear and simple -- I have not had one conversation with another NFL team regarding a trade with Larry Fitzgerald,' Keim said. Fitzgerald will count $18 million against the salary cap next year while earning $13 million, and he's under contract until 2017. His cap hit will increase again in 2015 to $21.25 million but then drops to $18.25 million in 2016 and $15 million in 2017.

Huddle Up: Of course they aren't. Why would they? Meanwhile, Carson Palmer might not be Aaron Rodgers, but he has already gotten Fitzgerald above his 2012 touchdown totals.

  • Posted: 10/23/2013 12:59am ET

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said Tuesday, Oct. 22, that he is leaning toward holding WR Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring) out of practice Wednesday, Oct. 23, to help the banged up veteran receiver heal.

Huddle Up: Fitz is coming off his worst game (2-17) of the season, and if missing an early-week day of practice or two can help, then his fantasy owners will petition to make it mandatory.

  • Posted: 10/18/2013 1:07am ET

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald finished with 2 catches for 17 yards on Thursday, Oct. 17 in a 34-22 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Huddle Up: Fitz's fantasy owners had flashbacks of 2012 as he finished with season lows in catches, yards and targets (5). His lingering hamstring issue no doubt affected him, but the Seahawks' strong secondary and pass rush deserves most of the credit/blame.

  • Posted: 10/16/2013 6:05pm ET

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 16, and is listed as probable for Week 7.

Huddle Up: This is positive news, but it could be a rough week against Richard Sherman and the Seahawks.

  • Posted: 10/15/2013 12:54am ET

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring) was listed as a limited participant in practice Monday, Oct. 14.

Huddle Up: Larry Fitz played and played well (6-117-TD) in Week 6 despite the injury and there were no reports of any setbacks. Despite the short week at hand, expect him to be good to go in a tough matchup against a physical Seattle secondary.

  • Posted: 10/14/2013 12:48am ET

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring) suffered a right hamstring injury in the Week 6 game against the San Francisco 49ers, and he reportedly could barely bend over in the locker room after the game. He has been battling hamstring injuries for most of the season, but his previous injury was to the left hamstring.

Huddle Up: The hits keep on coming for Larry Fitzgerald, whose owners might have been spooked into sitting him this afternoon before he went off for a big game. If he is gimpy this week, he could miss the next game.

  • Posted: 9/27/2013 10:08pm ET

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 27, and is listed as probable for Week 4.

Huddle Up: Fitz should be after practicing in full all week, and now the focus shifts to his production as he hasn't come close to matching his Week 1 production (8-80-2 TDs) over the past 2 weeks (a combined 7-97-0).

  • Posted: 9/25/2013 6:03pm ET

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 25.

Huddle Up: This is good to hear. Hopefully Fitzgerald puts those hamstring issues behind him and gets back to Week 1 form.

  • Posted: 9/20/2013 7:33pm ET

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 20, and is listed as questionable for Week 3.

Huddle Up: It's going to be hard to keep a player like Fitzgerald out of the lineup, so expect him to play on Sunday. He may be a little limited but Fitz has a nice match-up against the Saints. Consider him a WR2 this week in case the hamstring flares up again.
