The Associated Press reports the Denver Broncos defense sacked San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers five times in Week 6, including three times in the fourth quarter.
The Huddle Take: As under siege as Rivers was, he still managed to throw for 274 yards and a score. Not fantastic numbers, but pretty good considering the amount of pressure he was under all night. He won't face many defenses as good as Denver's the rest of the way, so he should be back to putting up those No. 1 Fantasy QB numbers very soon.

Kevin Acee, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers drove home after the team's Week 3 game with an ice wrap around his chest. Rivers said he just took "some licks," and got the wind knocked out of him.
The Huddle Take: This doesn't look to be a serious issue for Rivers, but it's something to keep an eye on when the Chargers return to practice this week.

The Associated Press reports San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers was 25-for-45 for a career-high 436 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens.
The Huddle Take: Rivers picked up the Chargers' offensive slack when LaDainian Tomlinson went down with an injury last year, so it's hardly surprising that with LT out he did the same thing Sunday against the Ravens. The longer LT is limited, the more Rivers' numbers will flourish.

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers was 24-for-36 for 252 yards with a touchdown pass and an interception during the teams Week 1 game.
The Huddle Take: Rivers actually performed a bit better than most would have probably expected, considering he normally doesn't put up big numers against the Raiders.
Posted: 8/24/2009 9:46pm et
ESPNews reports the San Diego Chargers have agreed to a six-year contract extension with QB Philip Rivers worth $92 million. The deal includes between $38 and $39 million in guaranteed money.
The Huddle Take: The Chargers now have gotten the contract extension in place to keep Rivers in Charger blue for the foreseeable future. There is no question that he is a solid No. 1 fantasy quarterback in 2009 and with the weapons around him in this offense he should only get better.
Posted: 8/23/2009 10:25pm et
The Associated Press reports San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers played in a little more than 1 1/2 quarters Saturday, Aug. 22, against the Arizona Cardinals and completed was 5-for-7 with 116 yards passing and no touchdowns. However, he was sacked four times during the game.
The Huddle Take: This is a very worrisome sign that Rivers was sacked 4 times in less than one half of football and definitely not a trend that either the Chargers or fantasy owners would want to see this season. If you draft Rivers as your starter in fantasy leagues make sure to get a quality backup as an insurance policy.

The San Diego Union-Tribune, reports the San Diego Chargers could start contract extension talks with QB Philip Rivers in the near future since the other two first-round quarterbacks in his draft class have already received extensions.
The Huddle Take: Eli Manning's mega-deal probably makes getting Rivers an extension a priority for San Diego, but don't look for this to be any sort of issue during the season. Rivers is once again primed for a very productive 2009 campaign.
Posted: 12/14/2008 10:16pm et
The Associated Press reports San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers was 34-for-48 for 346 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in Week 15.
The Huddle Take: San Diego kept their shaky playoff hopes alive by overcoming an 18-point deficit to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs 22-21. Rivers was a huge part of the comeback as he showed the poise and leadership we expected this season. Fantasy owners should view Rivers as a No. 2 quarterback in Week 16 as the Chargers battle the Buccaneers.
