Clarence E. Hill Jr. and Charean Williams, of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, report Dallas Cowboys WR Roy Williams is frustrated with his lack of involvement in the offense but remains confident that QB Tony Romo will get him the ball. "Yeah, it's frustrating," Williams said. "Why is it not? I feel like I'm a playmaker. I feel like I can change the game. I just do what I'm supposed to do. I run my route and hopefully the ball will be there. If not, I move on to the next play, then move on to the next one."
The Huddle Take: Williams has been targeted 11 times this season, including four in the Sunday night loss to the Giants; he's parlayed those looks into four catches and one touchdown. Clearly he didn't learn enough from Terrell Owens when T.O. was in Dallas regarding how to pout and get the ball thrown his way, because this is a pretty mild complaint. Maybe he should have written Tony Romo a strongly worded letter.

The Dallas Morning News, reports Dallas Cowboys WR Roy Williams (shoulder) may have been able to start the team's game Saturday, Aug. 29, had it counted. Head coach Wade Phillips said Williams probably could have played in the game had they needed him. Williams may not play in the team's final preseason game, as he is dealing with a bruised shoulder. He should, however, be ready for Week 1.
The Huddle Take: There is obviously no point in taking a chance with Williams as the team will likely give him more time to heal his shoulder in anticipation of the regular season. Consider the talented wideout a solid No. 2 receiver with upside on a team with a balanced running attack and a quality quarterback who will throw the ball often this season.

The Dallas Morning News, reports Dallas Cowboys WR Roy Williams (shoulder) has officially been diagnosed with a contusion on his left shoulder. Owner Jerry Jones did not commit to a timetable for Williams' return during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan, but he strongly hinted the receiver would be available for the regular-season opener.
The Huddle Take: Whew! It certainly looks like the Cowboys have dodged a serious bullet where Williams is concerned. Fantasy owners can breathe a sigh of relief at this point as the No. 1 wideout in Dallas should be in line for the start of the regular season. Expect his touches to be limited but he will still likely see some action when his shoulder feels better.

The Dallas Morning News reports Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said during a radio interview that WR Roy Williams (shoulder) will not be out for a long time. 'Based on our review here, we're talking about a very short timespan. I don't know that he'll go Saturday ... but he'll be out there real quick,' Jones said.
The Huddle Take: There has even been some talk that Williams could make an appearance in Saturday's preseason game against San Francisco. That doesn't make sense, considering Williams had a wrist scare a few weeks ago. But the fact that conjecture is even taking place is a great sign Williams will be ready to go Week 1 against Tampa Bay.

Updating previous reports, ESPN.com reports Dallas Cowboys WR Roy Williams is likely done for the preseason after injuring his shoulder Thursday, Aug. 27, a source told ESPN's Michael Smith.
The Huddle Take: The good news is, this isn't a broken collarbone as initially feared. And the Cowboys will have an opportunity to get longer looks at both Patrick Crayton and Miles Austin, who are expected to fill the second and third receiver slots.
Posted: 8/28/2009 2:22am et
Contrary to previous reports of a possible broken collarbone, Todd Archer, of The Dallas Morning News, reports two sources have told him that X-rays on Dallas Cowboys WR Roy Williams (shoulder) were negative and that he suffered a sprain. There is no reported timetable for his return, and the Cowboys will provide an update Friday, Aug. 28.
The Huddle Take: Looks like a scare has been avoided in Dallas, but the MRI on Friday could still show damage requiring some downtime. If Williams does end up being out for a significant time it would leave the Cowboys WR corps. pretty thin on talent.

The Dallas Morning News, reports Dallas Cowboys WR Roy Williams (wrist) said he will play in the team's preseason game Friday, Aug. 21. Williams said, "If I practice, I'm going to play. I'm not just going to practice for fun. I want to get rewarded by playing, especially the first time in the stadium. So I'm in. Count me in."
The Huddle Take: It sounds like Williams is chomping at the bit to get back on the field so he can continue to build some chemistry with Tony Romo and the offense. Williams is clearly the No. 1 wideout in "Big D" and could have a big year in this high octane offense especially since he will no longer have to take a back seat to Terrell Owens in Dallas.

Updating a previous item, CBSSports.com reports Dallas Cowboys WR Roy Williams (wrist) has a left wrist sprain and is day-to-day.
The Huddle Take: Williams will likely be evaluated further next week but at this point the injury does not seem to be serious. The veteran wideout remains the Cowboys No. 1 receiver and is poised for a solid season in the Dallas offense.
Posted: 8/1/2009 11:07pm et
ESPN.com reports Dallas Cowboys WR Roy Williams looks to be more comfortable with the offense and appears to be healthier than last season when he was dealing with a foot injury.
The Huddle Take: Williams, by all accounts, had an off year last year both in Detroit and in Dallas. He has proven to be a much better receiver than he displayed last year and should be ready to have a very good bounce back year, even though some have written him off. He's a very good end zone target, so has some very good upside potential, and seems to be going at a bargain spot in drafts.

DallasCowboys.com, reports Dallas Cowboys WR Roy Williams was receiving pointers at practice from former Cowboys WR Michael Irvin. When asked whether it mattered, Williams replied: 'Everybody has an opinion, that's fine. It's cool with me. I suck, remember?' Williams said he always enters seasons with a chip on his shoulder, but this year sounds different for him. 'Everybody thinks I suck, and I just have something to prove, not to prove that I don't suck, just to prove I can be a consistent ballplayer,' he said. Williams, who caught just 19 passes with the Cowboys in 10 games last year, said he is not uncomfortable, and it all comes down to him putting together a consistent pattern of catching the ball on the field over a whole year. According to Williams, when he and QB Tony Romo trust each other, allowing Romo to throw him the ball: 'Then I won't suck anymore.'
The Huddle Take: Fantasy owners should take note of Roy Williams this season as he is the undisputed No. 1 wideout in Dallas with the departure of Terrell Owens in the offseason. If Romo can find some consistency in the passing game then Rodgers could be poised for a nice season and some solid stats for fantasy owners that draft him as a No. 2 or No. 3 wideout.
