The New Orleans signed TE Benjamin Watson to a three-year deal Monday, Mar. 18. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Huddle Up: Watson fills the TE vulture role Dave Thomas turned into four touchdowns (on 11 catches) in seven games last season. He'll be an unreliable fantasy contributor, but he's bound to take a TD or two off of Jimmy Graham's plate at the most inopportune times.

Impending free-agent TEs E. Alex Smith and Benjamin Watson are unlikely to be brought back by the Cleveland Browns in 2013. New Browns coach Rob Chudzinski likes to use his tight ends in the offense, and right now Jordan Cameron is the only tight end on the roster. The team wants more depth at the position. Some potential targets might be impending free-agent TEs Dustin Keller, Fred Davis or Delanie Walker.

Huddle Up: Chud is a tight end guy; look no further than Greg Olsen's season in Carolina last year with Chudzinski as OC for proof. Cameron is untested but could impress Chudzinski during offseason workouts; if not, a veteran option like Keller or Davis makes sense and would immediately generate fantasy buzz as a low-end sleeper option.

Cleveland Browns TE Jordan Cameron (groin), OL John Greco (calf), QB Thaddeus Lewis (thumb), RB Chris Ogbonnaya (ankle) and TE Benjamin Watson (thigh) were limited in practice Friday, Sept. 7, and are questionable for Week 1.

Huddle Up: Watson should play, but this could open the door for up-and-comer Jordan Cameron to earn some more playing time. The second-year tight end had a fantastic camp and figures to have a prominent role for the Browns in the future, but Watson has dealt with injury issues in the past and could accelerate that plan for Cleveland.

Posted: 9/2/2012 7:18pm et

Cleveland Browns general manager Tom Heckert said TE Benjamin Watson has been dealing with either a quadriceps or hamstring injury (quadriceps, hamstring) and TE Jordan Cameron (undisclosed) is dealing with an undisclosed injury. He is hoping Watson and Cameron will be ready for Week 1.

Huddle Up: Considering these injuries, Cleveland took a risk in waiving TE Evan Moore last week. Moreover, Watson and Cameron are the seasoned vets among the Browns' offensive skill players and Cleveland will be able to use all the experience it can get with its rugged early-season schedule.

Cleveland Browns TE Jordan Cameron is considered the Browns' future at tight end. TE Benjamin Watson is in the final year of his contract, so Cameron is therefore likely to see a bigger role in the offense, not TE Evan Moore.

Huddle Up: Moore was the Browns' most productive tight end last season fantasy-wise with four touchdowns and 324 yards on 34 catches; Watson finished with 37-410-2 while Cameron recorded 6-33-0 in his rookie campaign. If Cameron is ready to step into Moore's role there are numbers to be had, but ultimately you'll have two players splitting mediocre stats--a situation with no fantasy winners.
