Tampa Bay Buccaneers PK Nate Kaeding (groin) has decided to retire from professional football after suffering a groin injury a few days ago. 'It's not like I can switch the way I kick, or change this way, or use a different muscle,' Kaeding said. 'Especially for me, and the way I kick, that's the main lever in the kicking motion. It's impossible to avoid it and I've got these chronic issues.'
Huddle Up: The end of the line has come too soon for Kaeding, one of fantasy's top kickers over his first 7 pro seasons, scoring at least 109 points each year.
Posted: 4/2/2013 2:28pm et
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed free-agent PK Nate Kaeding (Dolphins) to an undisclosed deal.
Huddle Up: Kaeding, once one of fantasy's top kickers while with the high-powered Chargers, has only attempted 10 field goals since being tearing an ACL on his opening kickoff of the 2011 season.
Posted: 12/21/2012 11:50am et
Miami Dolphins PK Dan Carpenter was placed on Injured Reserve. The team signed PK Nate Kaeding to replace him.
Huddle Up: Carpenter suffered a groin injury that ends his 2012 season early. Kaeding has had some injury issues during his pro career but for now is healthy enough to finish the year for the Dolphins.
Posted: 11/21/2012 11:26am et
The Carolina Panthers worked out free-agent PKs Graham Gano and Nate Kaeding Tuesday, Nov. 20. Interim general manager Brandon Beane said both kicked well, but the team decided to sign Gano to a two-year deal. The Panthers waived PK Justin Medlock earlier in the day. Medlock made his first seven field goals this season, but then missed three in a row.
Huddle Up: Gano kicked for the Redskins last year, converting 75 percent of his field goals. That would be a step up in Carolina, where Medlock was seven of 10 before losing his job.

San Diego Chargers PK Nate Kaeding (groin) has been ruled out for the Week 6 game against the Denver Broncos.
Huddle Up: Kaeding has vowed he will return soon, but it won't be Monday night as Nick Novak will start for the third straight game.
Posted: 10/12/2012 10:08pm et
San Diego Chargers PK Nate Kaeding (groin), OT Jared Gaither (groin) and WR Eddie Royal did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 12.
Huddle Up: Of the the 3, Gaither, the Chargers' starting LT, is the most vital with the Broncos' pass-rushing duo of Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil coming to town Monday night.
Posted: 10/3/2012 11:48pm et
Updating a previous report, San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner would not offer a timetable Wednesday, Oct. 3, on when PK Nate Kaeding (groin) will return. 'I can't give that right now. He hasn't kicked obviously, but the last time he had that injury he missed six weeks,' Turner said. 'It doesn't seem to be anywhere near as severe as he feels pretty good.'
Huddle Up: Until further notice, the serviceable Nick Novak will be handling the Chargers' kicking chores.
Posted: 10/1/2012 9:16pm et
The San Diego Chargers may place PK Nate Kaeding (groin) on injured reserve to open up a roster spot for free-agent CB Chris Carr (Vikings). Kaeding has a strained groin and is scheduled to meet with a specialist Tuesday, Oct. 2.
Huddle Up: Kaeding can't catch a break after missing the 2011 season with a torn ACL. Nick Novak, though, is back with the team and was perfect on 3 field-goal attempts and 4 extra-point attempts in Week 4.
Posted: 9/29/2012 1:05am et
The San Diego Chargers have re-signed PK Nick Novak. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. He will be the kicker Week 4 because PK Nate Kaeding (groin) did not travel with the team.
Huddle Up: Novak did a solid job last year with Kaeding on IR, averaging close to 10 fantasy points per outing.
Posted: 9/11/2012 10:13am et
San Diego Chargers PK Nate Kaeding booted five field goals (23, 28, 19, 41, 45) in the Week 1 game against the Oakland Raiders Monday, Sept. 10, and he added an extra point. It was Kaeding's first field goals since the 2010 season, as he tore his ACL on the opening kickoff in Week 1 last season.
Huddle Up: Kaeding has always been a solid fantasy option, and if the Chargers' offense is going to consistently stall out in the red zone he'll be an elite kicker this season.
