The Washington Post, reports Washington Redskins TE Chris Cooley (ankle) will be re-examined Monday, Nov. 9, after undergoing surgery on his right ankle. 'I'm hopeful that I can come back and play,' Cooley said. 'I still had an inch break in my ankle and it has three screws in it right now, so I'm not really getting around so well. So we'll see what happens.' He is currently wearing a walking cast on his right foot, but moved around on crutches earlier this week.
The Huddle Take: This is certainly interesting news on Cooley but it would be a far reach to expect the talented tight end to be back on the field in 2009. It is more likely he will be back in 2010 at the earliest. Keep an eye on updates but don't expect miracles here.

Updating an ongoing story, Ryan O'Halloran, of The Washington Times, reports Redskins head coach Jim Zorn said on his radio show Wednesday, Oct. 28, that TE Chris Cooley's surgery to insert three screws for his right ankle fracture was a success. Cooley could be back in four weeks. Zorn said, "The first thought was that he was going to be out eight weeks; this particular surgery was done - it was very non-evasive procedure and it was done in such a way that it if all goes well, will get him back in as little as four weeks."
The Huddle Take: There may not be much for Cooley to hurry back to as the Redskins leave behind the softer portion of their schedule and move on to the more rigorous section of their slate. Fred Davis looked good as a pass-catching replacement for Cooley, but his blocking left much to be desired.

Updating a previous report, ESPN reports a foot specialist said the broken ankle Washington Redskins TE Chris Cooley (ankle) suffered in Week 7 is not as bad as initially thought, and Cooley may be able to play in four weeks.
The Huddle Take: That would be amazing considering every other piece of news that came out regarding Cooley after Monday's injury. Fred Davis' Fantasy viability, which is still iffy at best - as is every Redskin's - will likely take a nosedive should Cooley's prognosis prove correct.

The NFL Network reports Washington Redskins TE Chris Cooley (ankle) will miss the remainder of the season after breaking his right ankle Monday, Oct. 26, according to a team source.
The Huddle Take: The injury occurred in freak fashion, as it appeared Cooley was merely running a route when his ankle gave way. Fred Davis will take over for Cooley, and may be someone worth considering in leagues that require a tight end. Davis caught passes for 78 yards and a TD in his first extended action of the season.

CBSSports.com reports Washington Redskins TE Chris Cooley (ankle) suffered an ankle injury Week 7 and is questionable to return.
The Huddle Take: Cooley was carted off and won't return to the game, the extent of the injury is currently unknown, but the Redskins lose their best weapon with him out. Monitor the injury status over the next day or two and have a back up plan in place if he's your starter.

Barry Svrluga, of The Washington Post, reports Redskins TE Chris Cooley went without a catch Week 5, the first time Cooley failed to catch a pass since Nov. 7, 2004. Cooley wasn't targeted for a single pass in the game, as he was needed to help block after OT Chris Samuels suffered a stinger in the first quarter.
The Huddle Take: This may be an ongoing concern, as the Redskins' line could benefit from the extra help. On the other hand, sans Cooley the Washington passing game was stagnant bordering on moribund. Here's hoping the Redskins will give us a read on the situation each week so fantasy owners can take Cooley's role in the offensive scheme into account and plan accordingly.
