The Houston Chronicle reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub said the offense needs to be consistent during a game. 'We know we need to play more consistently, especially in the second half. When we get on a roll, we can be great. But there's stuff we need to clean up, penalty-wise and turnover-wise,' Schaub said.
The Huddle Take: If they do achieve that goal of consistency, watch out. On a related note, WR Andre Johnson reportedly said on his Twitter account that he is feeling fine and should be able to play Sunday against the Bills. Johnson had to leave the Texans' game against San Francisco early due to an injury that was later diagnosed as a bruised lung.

HoustonTexans.com reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub has 10 touchdowns and two interceptions while throwing for 1,120 yards in three road games this season.
The Huddle Take: Before last week, the Bills had not allowed 100 yards passing in their previous three games. At first blush that looks bad for Schaub, but then you realize those outings were against the passing-challenged offenses of the Dolphins, Jets and Browns. The Bills were instead gashed on the ground those games, giving up 250, 171 and an astounding 318 yards respectively. But then against the Panthers on Sunday, they allowed 309 yards through the air. And that was against the incredibly struggling Jake Delhomme. It's safe to say Schaub's been a better quarterback than Delhomme this season.

The Associated Press reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub went 28-for-40 for 392 yards, four touchdowns and one interception in Week 6. The four touchdown passes tied his career high.
The Huddle Take: Schaub was certainly on his game in Week 6 as the Texans defeated the Bengals and were in control of the game for much of the day. Schaub has quietly put together a nice season and should continue to be a valuable fantasy quarterback throughout the year.

The Associated Press reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub was 25-for-39 for 357 yards with four touchdown passes during the team's Week 2 game against the Tennessee Titans.
The Huddle Take: Schaub turned in a solid game against a stout Tennessee Titan defense that had been projected to be one of the best in the league this season. With the Texans having a decent ground game to balance their passing attack it is not hard to imagine why there is so much potential for a team that continues to get better each week. Fantasy owners that have Schaub on their roster have a quality quarterback worthy of starting against any opponent.

John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub said his ankle injury is progressing well and is very confident that he will be able to start in the team's Week 1 game.
The Huddle Take: The knock on Schaub has been his ability to stay healthy, so it was big for him to return to the preseason game in which he was injured and demonstrate he's willing to play through the pain. It would be extremely disappointing to the Texans if he wasn't able to go in the season opener.
Posted: 9/9/2009 9:56pm et
Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 9.
The Huddle Take: This is a good sign as the Texans appear to be ready to start the year with Schaub controlling their offense. The sky is the limit in Houston this season as expectations are running high with a solid ground game and a decent passing attack which should keep opposing defenses off balance all season long.
Posted: 9/1/2009 10:29pm et
The Houston Chronicle reports Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said QB Matt Schaub (ankle) is considered day-to-day for the team's Week 1 game.
The Huddle Take: It's unlikely Schaub would play anyway in this game, at least not more than a series, so the team likely will keep him off the field to help his ankle be ready for the season.
Posted: 9/1/2009 10:59am et
The Associated Press reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub (ankle) said following the team's preseason game Monday, Aug. 31, he expects to play in the preseason finale Friday, Sept. 4.
The Huddle Take: It's good that Schaub feels he can play, but if the Texans put him out there for even one snap only three days removed from their game against Minnesota, their coaching staff is crazy.
Posted: 8/31/2009 9:41pm et
ESPN reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub (ankle) suffered a left ankle sprain during the team's preseason game Monday, Aug. 31. His return is probable.
The Huddle Take: Not great news, but at least it doesn't look like something that will make him miss much time. It looked worse than it evidently was, but always a scare when a top QB gets banged up. Schaub's record with injuries is well noted, so we have to cross our fingers that he can shake that bug once and for all. For now don't worry if you drafted him already...but be sure to have a back up option.

ESPN.com, reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub said he will play all 16 regular season games this season after missing five games last season because of a knee injury. 'But I am going to be out there 16 weeks this year. I feel good. Offseason work, weight room, conditioning, I feel like it's going to happen this year, I'm going to make sure it does,' Schaub said.
The Huddle Take: Schaub has all the tools and ability to become one of the best quarterbacks in the league as early as this season especially with the vast array of weapons at his disposal. With the Texans also sporting a solid running game with Steve Slaton, expect Houston to have a more balanced attack which will lead to more opportunities for Schaub to post some nice numbers. The only thing that could hold him back is the durability issues that have been around him for the last few seasons.
