The Tampa Tribune, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Derrick Ward (knee) missed the team's practice Friday, Nov. 13. He is listed as questionable for Week 10, but he will be a game-time decision.
The Huddle Take: It is appearing more likely that Ward's knee injury could keep him on the sidelines in Week 10. Check back closer to game time to see if his status has been upgraded prior to the game.

The St. Petersburg Times reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are trying to balance carries between RBs Cadillac Williams and Derrick Ward but Ward has been getting less carries because of Williams' performance as well as the team's lack of possessions during games. 'We'd like to (get Ward involved) but what happened is, in the previous game, we only had three series in the second half. (We said) 'Hey, Derrick, it's your turn.' Well, we only had two possessions, now all of a sudden, it's the fourth quarter,' Offensive coordinator Greg Olson said.
The Huddle Take: Last week against the Patriots Ward received 14 touches to Williams' 13. Indications are now that Ward is healthy that trend will continue - which means in the 25th worst fantasy running attack both have little value other than a desperation bye week fill-in given a good matchup.

The Tampa Tribune, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Derrick Ward (knee) missed the team's practice Friday, Oct. 2. He is listed as questionable for Week 4 and will be a game-time decision.
The Huddle Take: If Ward is unable to go then Cadillac Williams and Ernest Graham should share the carries for Tampa Bay. Williams will likely get the biggest part of the workload with Graham probably getting his opportunities in short-yardage and goal line situations.

Charlie Campbell and Jim Flynn, of PewterReport.com, report Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Derrick Ward is not participating in practice Friday, Oct. 2, and likely will not play in Week 4.
The Huddle Take: Ward is dealing with a knee injury. Carnell Williams will get the bulk of the carries in his absence, with a little Earnest Graham mixed in as well.

PewterReport.com reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Derrick Ward will start in the team's Week 3 game.
The Huddle Take: Ward will likely see quite a bit of action against the Giants, since Cadillac Williams is iffy this week. The Cowboys chewed up New York on the ground in Week 2, so Ward could be looking at a very nice day.

ESPN.com reports despite Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Cadillac Williams being listed as the No. 1 running back on the depth chart, the carries will likely be split three ways between Williams and RBs Derrick Ward and Earnest Graham.
The Huddle Take: In a word - RBBC. Okay, that's really four words. The Tampa Bay backfield is shaping up to be a nightmare for fantasy owners with this "2-2-1" system they will employ. Starter Williams and primary backup Ward are set to be the "2-2" in the equation, with Graham being the goal-line "1".

FOXSports.com reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed to terms on a four-year, $17 million contract with free-agent RB Derrick Ward, according to a source. He will earn $6 million guaranteed in 2009 and salaries over the next two seasons that would raise the three-year deal to $13 million.
The Huddle Take: Ward moves to the head of a backfield that includes Carnell Williams and Earnest Graham, primarily because he's the only one not coming off a serious injury.

The New York Daily News reports free-agent RB Derrick Ward was apparently in Philadelphia over the weekend and left without a contract. According to reports, Ward is looking for a deal similar to the six-year, $34.5 million deal the Atlanta Falcons gave RB Michael Turner last year.
The Huddle Take: Ward is coming off a 1,000-yard season with the Giants, but it seems unlikely he'll get Turner-type money. Ward is still largely viewed as a complementary back rather than a load-carrier like Turner.

ESPN.com reports the Cleveland Browns may be interested in New York Giants impending free-agent RB Derrick Ward if he does not re-sign with the Giants.
The Huddle Take: With the Giants franchising Brandon Jacobs, it seems likely that Ward will have a new home for the 2009 season. And with Jamal Lewis on the downslope of his career and no one else on the roster stepping into the void, the Browns make a logical landing spot for Ward.

The Denver Post reports the Broncos may be interested in New York Giants impending free-agent RB Derrick Ward if he does not re-sign with the Giants.
The Huddle Take: The Broncos rolled through multiple backs last season, and the 1,000-yard rushing Ward might be the guy to end the turnstile and take the job by the reins.
