The New York Daily News reports New York Giants PK Lawrence Tynes (knee) is expected to be ready to play after the team's Week 4 bye.
The Huddle Take: Looks like John Carney's about to return to his life of leisure.

The New York Daily News reports that Giants PK Lawrence Tynes (knee) has started kicking, but he likely won't return until after Week 4. Tynes is kicking 10 balls per day and needs to get to 40-50 balls per day before he can play. He also has not tried any kickoffs.
The Huddle Take: John Carney has been a more than capable fill-in, scoring 10 points in the Giants' season opener while going three-for-three on field goal attempts, including a 47-yarder. If you drafted Tynes, Carney will at least get you through the first month without missing a beat.

*Special Injury Update*
Torn Knee Cartilage - Giants' kicker Lawrence Tynes, who has been diagnosed with torn cartilage in his plant leg, will probably miss the team's regular season opener and according to reports he could be out at least another two weeks. Tynes apparently injured his leg several weeks ago and recent exploratory surgery revealed that his ligaments were fine but that the cartilage in his knee was damaged. He has not officially been ruled out of Thursday's game against the Redskins but it looks like veteran John Carney will kick in Tynes' place.

Giants.com reports PK Lawrence Tynes (knee) missed the team's practice Sunday, Aug. 31.
The Huddle Take: The G-Men signed John Carney to kick while Tynes recovers from knee surgery. Expect Carney to kick in at least the opener, and the Giants will play it from there.

The Star-Ledger reports New York Giants PK Lawrence Tynes (knee) does not have any structural damage in his left knee after undergoing exploratory surgery Friday, Aug. 22. Tynes will continue to rehabilitate his knee.
The Huddle Take: Odds are Tynes will miss at least a game or two of the regular season. Since kickers are a dime a dozen for the most part, you'd probably be better off not considering drafting Tynes. When it's late in the draft, and your eyes are glazed over, try to remember not to pick him.

The Star-Ledger reports New York Giants PK Lawrence Tynes (knee) will undergo exploratory surgery Friday, Aug. 22. The surgery will determine how much time he's expected to miss, according to three people with direct knowledge of Tynes' injury and scheduled procedure. All three people said it is possible the surgery will reveal an injury that could land Tynes on Injured Reserve.
The Huddle Take: Not good news for the N.Y. Giants as they look to set their sights on another Super Bowl run. With PK Lawrence Tynes likely out for the season the Giants will begin their search for a possible replacement. Fantasy owners be sure to watch who will take over the kicking duties in New York as he could certainly have some value this year.
