Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) is not expected to play in Week 12 because of a foot injury.

Huddle Up: Hillman will miss a second straight game and likely two or three more after that with a sprained foot.

  • Posted: 11/12/2014 4:03pm ET

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Huddle Up: No shocker here as Hillman is expected to miss the next 2-3 games, leaving the RB duties to Montee Ball (if he can return this week), C.J. Anderson and Juwan Thompson.

  • Posted: 11/10/2014 5:05pm ET

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) will miss at least two weeks with a sprain in his right foot, according to a source.

Huddle Up: The Denver Post reported that Hillman would miss "at least two weeks." But HC John Fox placed his prognosis as "day to day". Regardless, with Hillman struggling with an injury, Montee Ball's return this week, and C.J. Anderson's fine play, the Denver backfield is looking off-limits for fantasy owners looking for a sure contributor to their roster. Look for a lot of "hot hand" coachspeak this week.

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman was limping in the locker room because of a sprained ankle Sunday, Nov. 9.

Huddle Up: Hillman was in and out of Sunday's win in Oakland dealing with the ankle injury and sat out the fourth quarter along with several other starters with the Broncos comfortably ahead. He finished with only 13 yards on 6 carries and 9 yards on a pair of receptions, while C.J. Anderson ran wild with 90 yards rushing on 13 attempts and 73 yards and a TD on four receptions. Hillman figures to remain the starter, but Montee Ball's impending return will further cut into the RB workload in the coming weeks.

Updating previous reports, Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (shoulder) is expected to have his normal workload in Week 9, despite his limited practice repetitions.

Huddle Up: Hillman has been sharing a little with Juwon Thompson, but he's still clearly the feature back in Denver. That's not going to change this week even though Hillman has missed practice time, nor is it expected to change if/when Montee Ball returns to action; it's Hillman's gig, with a smattering of help from the rest of the cast.

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (shoulder) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 30.

Huddle Up: The shoulder remains a concern because it's an injury that cropped up Wednesday. Hillman is still expected to play and start Sunday in New England, but he might not receive the workload he would normally get, with Juwan Thompson and C.J. Anderson in line for a few more touches apiece.

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (shoulder) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 29.

Huddle Up: Hillman's injury isn't believed to be serious. He'll be a high upside RB2 this week against the Patriots.

  • Posted: 10/29/2014 6:38pm ET

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman said his shoulder feels fine and he doesn't think it will limit him. According to beat reporters, the RB "landed funny" on his shoulder during workouts Wednesday and appeared to be somewhat limited afterward.

Huddle Up: It doesn't sound like anything to get too worked up about, but it's definitely something to keep tabs on the rest of week with the RB, who has totaled 357 yards from scrimmage and 2 TDs over his last 3 games.

  • Posted: 10/24/2014 3:05pm ET

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman continues to run with confidence in the absence of RB Montee Ball (groin), and Ball will likely find it hard to win his starting job back when he's healthy. He showed impressive footwork and showed breakaway speed in the team's Week 8 win over the San Diego Chargers Thursday, Oct. 23, and he could have easily finished with two touchdowns.

Huddle Up: Hillman rushed for a career-high 109 yards and added 29 more on 3 receptions Thursday night and now has topped 100 total yards in each of his 3 starts, also scoring a pair of TDs in Week 7. Ball should still see touches when he returns in a few weeks but they figure to be in relief of the starter Hillman, whose stats and speed are going to be too hard for the Broncos to simply push aside.

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman ran for 100 yards Sunday, Oct. 12, against the New York Jets while RB Juwan Thompson gained 38 yards on the ground. It was the team's highest single-game rushing total so far this season.

Huddle Up: Hillman played well in hist first start against a tough Jets rush defense. He'll be an RB2 this week against the 49ers.

  • Posted: 9/7/2014 7:55pm ET

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (illness) is inactive for the Week 1 game against the Indianapolis Colts Sunday, Sept. 7, due to illness. Hillman is expected to play in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Huddle Up: C.J. Anderson will serve as Montee Ball's backup versus the Colts. Look for Ball to see most of the touches Sunday night.

  • Posted: 8/6/2014 11:56pm ET

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman is in line to start the preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 7, against the Seattle Seahawks with RB Montee Ball (appendix) out after an emergency appendectomy.

Huddle Up: Hillman has the early edge over C.J. Anderson to be Ball's backup. However, Hillman will have to hang onto the football and perform well in preseason games to win the No. 2 job. Ball is still expected to be ready for the season opener but Hillman is the favorite to be his handcuff.

  • Posted: 7/31/2014 8:53pm ET

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman has been unbelievable this offseason, according to running backs coach Eric Studesville. Studesville said Hillman is starting to maximize his potential and it's been exciting to witness.

Huddle Up: Many believe second-year back C.J. Anderson is actually running ahead of the 2012 third-round pick in the race to back up Montee Ball, but the true tests -- the preseason games themselves -- are yet to come. Avoiding the fumbling issues that plagued him last season will Key No. 1 for Hillman.

  • Posted: 6/4/2014 12:28am ET

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman is focused on making the team after slipping down the depth chart quickly last season. 'I have a chip on my shoulder now,' Hillman said. 'I am not paying too much attention to the depth chart. But I am not out here practicing to be No. 2.' Hillman's work in regaining a job behind RB Montee Ball will start with him hanging onto the football. He fumbled twice last year inside the opponent's 10-yard line, and the team ran out of patience with him.

Huddle Up: The 2012 3rd-round pick had only 55 rushes and 12 receptions in 9 games a season ago, and is the odds-on favorite for the team's No. 2 RB role provided he can get -- a keep -- his grip on the pigskin during training camp and the preseason.

  • Posted: 5/30/2014 6:25pm ET

Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase said RB Montee Ball has the starting job, and the competition for the backfield is with the No. 2 spot.

Huddle Up: There wasn't much suspense to this situation, as Ball played better down the stretch of his rookie campaign and no longer has Knowshon Moreno ahead of him on the depth chart.

  • Posted: 5/19/2014 3:19pm ET

Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase said the team is looking for RB Ronnie Hillman to improve his play if he wants to make the team this upcoming season. Hillman has fumbled four times over the past two seasons.

Huddle Up: Sounds like Hillman is battling for a roster spot rather than pushing for any sort of meaningful role in the Broncos' backfield rotation. He could still see touches, but unless he improves dramatically it will take an injury or two for Hillman to warrant fantasy consideration.

  • Posted: 5/18/2014 6:05pm ET

Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase said the competition for the No. 2 spot on the depth chart at running back behind Montee Ball is wide open. He also said that there is no clear-cut favorite to start at right tackle.

Huddle Up: For the first time in 3 seasons, the Broncos didn't draft a RB, but that doesn't mean anything is going to be handed to former third-round pick Ronnie Hillman, who must show more consistent production and show he's past his fumbling issues.

  • Posted: 1/2/2014 12:35pm ET

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman may miss some practice time next week due to a court date for multiple traffic infractions.

Huddle Up: Hillman was actually active the last few games of the regular season, but will only see spare postseason touches as long as Knowshon Moreno and Montee Ball remain healthy.
