The Associated Press reports New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge after he was accused of punching a man outside a Cleveland nightclub in October. Edwards was arraigned in Cleveland Municipal Court Tuesday, Nov. 17. He waived his right to a speedy trial and was scheduled for a Dec. 12 court hearing.
The Huddle Take: At this point, for those still using him on your team, Edwards will continue to play. He'll be in that situation until his hearing at least, when we'll find out what is going to happen for the rest of his season.

Mark Cannizzaro, of the New York Post, reports the NFL is monitoring the misdemeanor assault case of New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards, according to an NFL spokesperson, though there doesn't appear to be any chance of him being suspended this season - if at all. "Under the PC (player conduct) policy, when a player like Braylon, with no prior history of conduct issues, has been charged, we wait for a court resolution. Then we would review the facts for any possible discipline," the spokesperson said.
The Huddle Take: Edwards appears to be safe for the moment--or at least until LeBron James signs with the Knicks or Nets and brings his entourage to the Big Apple for Round 2 of this slap-off.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards was been charged with misdemeanor assault Monday, Oct. 26, in connection with an incident outside a nightclub a few weeks ago. He faces a sentence of up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine, if convicted. Edwards' arraignment hearing is scheduled for Nov. 17.
The Huddle Take: Odds are, either Edwards will get a slap on the wrist or the matter will be delayed until well after the season is over with. Either way, Edwards shouldn't miss any time due to the charges this season. Now, if only his quarterback could revert to the form he showed the first three weeks...

New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards (quadriceps) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 21.
The Huddle Take: Fantasy owners should expect Edwards to be in the lineup leading up to gametime as the former Cleveland wideout continues to develop chemistry with Mark Sanchez in the Jets offense. Braylon has the athleticism and skills to be a top wideout in the NFL and could play a huge role for New York during the second half of the season.

New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards caught five passes for 64 yards with a touchdown in his first game with the Jets Week 5. He also set up two other touchdowns.
The Huddle Take: He was knocked out of bounds at the 1 on another reception, and almost came up with a 49-yard circus catch for yet another TD. So that's three touchdowns he easily could have had in his Jet debut. It's safe to say that Edwards has likely found a home in New York.

Armando Salguero, of the Miami Herald, reports the Dolphins looked into the possibility of acquiring New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards while he was still with the Cleveland Browns. However, the team felt they were happy with the players already on the roster. "We do our due diligence on all the things that might be, could be, should be," head coach Tony Sparano said. "No question about that. I think everybody needs to understand we did that. But from our end, we are quite content with the people we have right now. We have a good group of people. This is the right 53 people."
The Huddle Take: Edwards isn't exactly a Bill Parcells type of ballplayer, so despite the fact that Miami's receiving corps is anything but settled it's not difficult to understand why they passed on the former Brown.
Posted: 10/7/2009 10:15am et
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Cleveland Browns traded WR Braylon Edwards to the New York Jets for an undisclosed package.
The Huddle Take: Later reports indicate the package includes Chansi Stuckey, linebacker Jason Trusnick, and third- and fifth-round selections. Considering how Edwards was underperforming in Cleveland, and that his contract expires at the end of the season so he wasn't likely to return to the Browns anyway, you have to be impressed with what Cleveland was able to get for the former first-round pick.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports Cleveland Browns WR Braylon Edwards has been accused of assaulting a Cleveland man early Monday, Oct. 5, at a nightclub. Edward Givens, 28, said he went to a hospital because he suffered a black eye and a cut. He said he also has a headache. The suspect's name on the police report is redacted. However, multiple sources and the victim say the suspect is Edwards.
The Huddle Take: Edwards has already fallen out of Fantasy relevance and plays on arguably the worst team in the league. Now he could be looking at a suspension for behavior detrimental to the league or worse.
Posted: 10/4/2009 10:05pm et
The Associated Press reports Cleveland Browns WR Braylon Edwards was held without a reception Week 4, the first time in 62 career games he failed to catch a pass.
The Huddle Take: Edwards is on a fast train to nowhere. He's on pace to do even worse than he did last year, which is saying something...and not a good something. He should be benched in all fantasy leagues until significant signs of improvement are shown.

Stephanie Storm, of the Akron Beacon Journal, reports Cleveland Browns WR Braylon Edwards appeared unfazed by the team's switch from QB Brady Quinn to QB Derek Anderson as starter for Week 4. Edwards said, "We haven't played very well the first three games. So I'm sure we can't be any worse." Edwards added, "You know D.A., he's a guy who likes to throw the deep ball, likes to get the ball out. I like to run deep routes, so it's natural he'd look for me in those situations."
The Huddle Take: Edwards doesn't seem at all broken up about Quinn giving way to Anderson, who threw three picks in one half of play to earn the promotion. And that last line of his quote sums it up nicely: if it benefits Edwards, who had two catches for 29 yards from Anderson in the second half after one catch for six yards from Quinn, he's all for it.
