The Dallas Cowboys have announced they have released CB Adam Jones.

The Huddle Take: It appears that the off the field problems of Adam Jones were even too much for the Cowboys to deal with as the team has cut ties and released him from the team. With some other potential news likely to come out in the next few days, it seems that the Cowboys have cut bait and run where Jones is concerned. Jones has tremendous talent and ability but continues to struggle to remain on the field and contribute consistently.

Updating previous reports, Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports Dallas Cowboys CB Adam Jones (neck) has been cleared by a doctor to resume playing in a few weeks, according to a league source. The doctor determined that Jones had fluid in his spine but no injury that would require surgery.

The Huddle Take: If Jones does play again this season, that'd would be fantastic news for the Cowboys; not necessarily because he's a difference-maker in the secondary -- which he's not -- but because if he does take the field, that likely means Dallas is in the playoffs.

Dallas Cowboys CB Adam Jones (neck) will be further evaluated Thursday, Dec. 11. He will not play in Week 15 and his season is likely over. Contrary to previous reports, the injury does not appear to be career threatening.

The Huddle Take: Well that didn't last long as the Cowboys are likely facing the decision to place Adam Jones on IR ending his season. The troubled Dallas cornerback has been a huge disappointment for fantasy teams using IDP players this season so he will likely not have much value even if Dallas doesn't place him on IR.

The Associated Press reports Dallas Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones said he would welcome suspended CB Adam Jones back to the team if he "does the kinds of things that the league has asked him to do and that he's doing. If he's done that and satisfied that criteria, then yes, we would." Jerry Jones said he had been in contact with Adam Jones "on numerous occasions."

The Huddle Take: Such a statement is hardly surprising; if you can play, somewhere there's a team willing to overlook your transgressions. And in many cases that "somewhere" is Dallas.

ESPN.com is reporting that Adam Jones will be suspended at least four games for an alcohol-related incident at a Dallas hotel last week.

The Huddle Take: It's pretty safe to say that the last week has been a disaster for the Cowboys, when you combine the Jones incident with the loss in Arizona and the injuries to Tony Romo, Felix Jones and punter Mat McBriar. The loss of Jones further weakens an already suspect secondary that's without Terence Newman. Roy Williams is slated to return soon at safety, but pass coverage isn't exactly his strong suit. Marc Bulger - yes, Marc Bulger - is worth starting consideration this week against Dallas.

ESPNews reports the Dallas Cowboys will take no disciplinary action against CB Adam Jones for his involvement in a fight with his bodyguard Wednesday, Oct. 8. The NFL will conduct their own investigation into the incident.

The Huddle Take: This move was somewhat expected, because if the Cowboys imposed any discipline, that would be all Roger Godell would need to immediately expel Jones from the league. The bigger question from a fantasy standpoint is just how many points the Dallas secondary is going to surrender to Kurt Warner and the Cardinals. Warner and Larry Fitzgerald are obvious Fantasy starters this week, but you should also consider starting Tim Hightower, Steve Breaston and even Edgerrin James.

ESPN.com reports Dallas Cowboys CB Adam Jones got into a fight with one of his security guards at a Dallas hotel Wednesday, Oct. 8, according to several media outlets. Dallas' CBS affiliate, Channel 11, reported Jones was involved in an altercation and damaged a bathroom. Dallas deputy chief Vince Golbeck told the Dallas Morning News police were called to the scene at 1:30 a.m. Golbeck told the newspaper he thought Jones was staying at the hotel and might have been drinking. No police report was filed. A source told ESPN that NFL security has been notified and is investigating.

The Huddle Take: See what happens when you don't let a guy chill at a strip club? Jones is supposed to be on a short leash with the league coming off a one-year suspension, so it will be interesting to see how quickly the league takes action.

DallasCowboys.com reports that CB Adam Jones will start if CB Terence Newman (groin) can't go in Week 1.

The Huddle Take: We haven't seen Jones on the field for some time, so it's easy to forget just how good a player he was. Assuming he picks up where he left off prior to his suspension, the Cowboys won't miss a beat plugging him in for Newman.

Dallas Cowboys CB Adam Jones will be the team's punt returner Week 1. He will also be the No. 3 cornerback and could return kicks during the game.

The Huddle Take: Jones brings a different kind of talent to the Dallas special teams unit as he is electric and can take the ball to the house everytime he touches it. This is precisely the reason the Cowboys took a chance on acquiring Jones from the Titans where he had officially worn out his welcome. Fantasy owners should consider the Cowboys Defense/Special teams unit a must start in Week 1 against a Browns team that could struggle at times with consistency.

ESPNews reports Dallas Cowboys CB Adam Jones has been reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

The Huddle Take: This was thought to be a basic formality all along, provided Jones stayed out of trouble. He has, and now it's a done deal. Jones has slowly been re-acclimating himself to the speed of the NFL, and even though his rust has showed, he's still had a couple of impressive punt returns in the preseason. It sounds like a no-brainer to make Jones the returner when the season starts for real. If that's the case, Dallas' defense/special teams should be significantly upgraded from a fantasy perspective.
