Denver Broncos TE Joel Dreessen underwent offseason arthroscopic surgery on his knee and will miss the rest of the team's offseason workouts, including the mandatory minicamp in June. TE Julius Thomas will see increased repetitions in the absence of Dreessen.
Huddle Up: Dreessen, had a career-high 41 receptions for 356 yards and 5 TDs last season while splitting time with Jacob Tamme (52-555-2). Neither figures to be as productive in 2013 with the Broncos adding slot WR Wes Welker to the mix.

Denver Broncos tight ends have caught 64 passes this season, already more than in any season since 2008. TE Jacob Tamme has 34 receptions for 312 yards and a touchdown, while TE Joel Dreessen has 27 catches for 250 and four touchdowns. Tamme and Dreessen both run well, allowing either to also set up as a slot receiver, or even occasionally as a wideout. 'Dreessen and Tamme can play (multiple positions), and that's a big part of our offense,' QB Peyton Manning said. 'In certain progressions, those guys are the first read. Coach (Mike) McCoy's done a good job of utilizing those guys, trying to get those guys in (favorable) matchups. Mike tries to move those guys around.'
Huddle Up: After several seasons of next-to-nil production, it was clear to see in the preseason that the TE position was going to be rediscovered with the arrival of Peyton Manning in the Mile High City. The problem is Tamme and Dreessen basically have split the production right down the middle, limiting their fantasy values outside of larger leagues. If either Tamme or Dreessen were to miss a game, though, the other would leap into starting territory in almost all leagues.
