Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush said he is fine with a potentially smaller workload in 2014. RB Joique Bell is expected to cut into Bush's workload more this season.

Huddle Up: Bush had 277 touches this past season to Bell's 219, and if the above is true, it's basically shaping up as 50-50 split in the Motor City this coming season. Adjust your draft board accordingly.

Posted: 12/17/2013 12:59am et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush rushed 17 times for 86 yards and a TD and added 2 catches for 15 yards Monday, Dec. 16 in an 18-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Huddle Up: Bush was back after missing Week 14 with a calf injury and made his presence felt immediately with a 14-yard scoring run to cap the opening drive of the game. He left briefly in the third quarter, igniting fears that his calf injury had been aggravated but he returned and finished with his 8th 100-total-yard game of the season.

Posted: 12/14/2013 8:03pm et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (calf) is questionable for Week 15.

Huddle Up: Bush is expected to play but the fact that his game is on Monday night makes it a bit of a risk for fantasy owners. It's a tough call but expect Bush to be in the lineup and put up solid numbers this week, although Joique Bell is sure to see touches as well.

Posted: 12/13/2013 6:28pm et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (calf) was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 13.

Huddle Up: It's a tough call for Bush owners because his game is on Monday night but Detroit beat writers have given him a strong chance of playing. Watch his status closer to Sunday but it looks like Bush will suit up and be a strong RB2 play against the Ravens this week.

Posted: 12/12/2013 4:52pm et

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (calf) said he will practice Friday, Dec. 13. Bush said he feels good, and sitting out practice Thursday was just precautionary.

Huddle Up: It hasn't been the best of postseasons for Bush's fantasy owners who saw the RB re-aggravate his injury in Week 14 pre-game warmups and then not play. See if the outlook brightens any Friday.

Posted: 12/11/2013 1:57pm et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (calf) said he expects to play in the team's Week 15 game. Bush said he is not sure how he aggravated his calf injury during pregame warmups last week.

Huddle Up: He was expected to play last week before being a late scratch that might have ruined some lineups. Keep an eye on him.

Posted: 12/6/2013 6:11pm et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (calf) was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 6, and is questionable for Week 14.

Huddle Up: Bush may very well play, but go with another option or at least lower your expectations for the RB, who missed the Lions' Wednesday and Thursday practices.

Posted: 11/28/2013 5:26pm et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush had 20 carries for 117 yards and a TD and added 5 catches for 65 yards Thursday, Nov. 28 in a 40-10 rout of the Green Bay Packers.

Huddle Up: Bush's fantasy owners are thankful for the big holiday outing for the RB, who enjoyed his second-highest total yardage day of the season. He hadn't scored since Week 8. Bush's big day didn't come at the expense of backup Joique Bell, either, as Bell had 19 rushes for 94 yards and a TD and # catches for 34 yards himself.

Posted: 11/19/2013 10:45pm et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush disagreed with head coach Jim Schwartz and thinks that he is a running back that can perform well in all conditions. 'I pride myself on being able to run in all conditions, you know what I mean, and I think the opposite,' Bush said. 'I think running in those types of conditions is, for me, I think is better because now the defenders have to be constantly on their heels and toes and we can get guys off-balanced in mud and when it's rainy and slippery, it's kind of an advantage to the running back.' However, he agreed that he didn't play well in adverse conditions in Week 11 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Huddle Up: Bush's fantasy owners hopefully can dismiss it as a one-week disappointment and look for bigger and better things out of the RB over the next two weeks with Lions inside at Ford Field.

Posted: 11/19/2013 2:16pm et

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz suggested that RB Reggie Bush wasn't used as much in the team's Week 11 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers because of sloppy conditions on the field. 'Reggie in horse racing wouldn't be called a mudder. He's an explosively quick guy. He's better on a fast track,' Schwartz said.

Huddle Up: Bush also lost a fumble and finished with his fewest touches (14) in a game this season in which he wasn't injured. Speaking of injuries, backup Joique Bell tweaked a knee in the contest and enters the week with a question mark next to his status. With that in mind and the Lions back inside this week at Ford Field, expect Bush to return to a full workload.

Posted: 11/8/2013 1:49pm et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush, who rushed for 139 yards in his first meeting with the Chicago Bears this year, knows that their weakness is stopping the run and is ready to exploit it again. 'We feel like there is some room for us to take advantage of them in the run game. We just have to make sure we go in and play fundamentally sound,' Bush said. Chicago is allowing 127.5 rushing yards per game this season, ranking them 29th in the league. They've allowed 408 rushing yards in their last two games.

Huddle Up: The first game against the Bears has been Bush's lone 100-yard rushing effort of the season, but he's done more than all right otherwise and remains a must-start.

Posted: 10/26/2013 12:21pm et

Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said he is more concerned about the team defending Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush Week 8 than he is defending WR Calvin Johnson. 'When I look at where we seem to have some vulnerability using the passes out of the backfield, I look at what San Diego did, I look at times what Philadelphia did, if they were able to do anything at all, coming out of that backfield. That seems defensively to be a rough area for us,' Jones said.

Huddle Up: Jones wouldn't be worried about Bush if he owned him on his fantasy team. The Cowboys have given up the 8th most points to fantasy running backs this year and are allowing backs to catch seven balls a game out of the backfield. Bush is in line for a huge game Sunday.

Posted: 10/25/2013 1:53pm et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (quadriceps) is sitting out of practice Friday, Oct. 25. He came onto the field late in practice with ice wrapped above his right knee.

Huddle Up: A late-week injury is cause for a red flag, and his status for Sunday now is under question. We'd warn Bush's fantasy owners to stay on top of the situation but we know they will after this jolting news.

Posted: 9/28/2013 1:07am et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (knee) practiced in full Friday, Sept. 27, and is probable for Week 4.

Huddle Up: Fantasy GMS can return Bush to their starting lineups for an interesting matchup against the Bears. No. 2 back Joique Bell had a productive outing (132 total yards, TD) in Bush's absence Week 3, but there should be enough touches for both to be fantasy relevant Sunday.

Posted: 9/26/2013 8:16pm et

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (knee) practiced in full Thursday, Sept. 26.

Huddle Up: Count on having Bush back this week as he's been a full-practice participant for 2 straight days now.

Posted: 9/25/2013 5:54pm et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (knee) appeared to be fully participating during the media-access portion of practice Wednesday, Sept. 25.

Huddle Up: It looks like he'll be playing this week, which dings Joique Bell's value. You could feasibly start both, however.

Posted: 9/23/2013 3:08pm et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (knee) said he could have played in Week 3 against the Washington Redskins if it were a playoff game. 'I feel good, man,' Bush said. 'Honestly, I could have played today but it was coaches and doctors that decided it was best to sit this one out. Just to not risk any further injury. If it was a playoff game, I would have been in there.' Bush said he'll be 100 percent healthy and ready to go in Week 4 against the Chicago Bears.

Huddle Up: This is good to hear going into this week. Joique Bell did his best Bush impersonation with a big performance, but he should be relegated to second banana when Bush is back, even if Bell still gets a lot of playing time.

Posted: 9/23/2013 9:19am et

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush said Sunday, Sept. 22, that he will be ready to play in Week 4. 'I guarantee I'll play next week,' Bush said. 'Yes. Knee's good. I'll be back this week.'

Huddle Up: It's believed the Lions were being overly cautious in holding Bush out of the Week 3 game with Washington, and Joique Bell played well enough to support the decision. If Bush lives up to his vow he'll be back atop the Detroit backfield pecking order this week with 60-75 percent of the touches.

Posted: 9/20/2013 5:52pm et

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (knee) returned to practice and was wearing a sleeve on his knee Friday, Sept. 20. He ran routes and caught passes and didn't appear to be favoring his left knee.

Huddle Up: Bush goes down as questionable for Sunday's game against the Redskins and while he's likely to play after getting back on the practice field Friday, definitely expect fewer touches than normal -- and a bigger role for fellow RB Joique Bell -- if he does.

Posted: 9/19/2013 4:33pm et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (knee) is optimistic about playing in Week 3 against the Washington Redskins and plans to return to practice Friday, Sept. 20 after missing a second straight workout Thursday. Head coach Jim Schwartz said whether Bush practices will have no effect on if he'll play Sunday, Sept. 22. 'I think it's a lot further than I expected and it feels a lot better than I thought it was going to feel. So I'm just happy where it is right now. Today was a very positive day and we'll see what happens tomorrow,' Bush said.

Huddle Up: Bush and Joique Bell owners definitely need to monitor Bush's status Friday. Keep in mind that if Bush does play Sunday, though, it'll likely be on a limited basis mitigating the values for both backs.

Posted: 9/19/2013 11:13am et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush is optimistic he'll be able to play in Week 3, but he still needs clearance from doctors.

Huddle Up: Bush left last week's game with a knee injury, and the Lions have Joique Bell if Bush can't play. But it sounds like the plan is for Bush to at least be available for Detroit's Week 3 contest.

Posted: 9/18/2013 7:23pm et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (knee) is 50-50 to play in the team's Week 3 game with a knee issue.

Huddle Up: Bush will likely be a game-time decision this week. Bush owners should have another option ready to go this Sunday. If Bush is out, Joique Bell will be an attractive RB2 play against a struggling Redskins' defense.

Posted: 9/18/2013 1:45pm et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (knee) is not practicing Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Huddle Up: It would be surprising to see him sit this week, but this further increases Joique Bell's value. It's likely Bell will spell Bush more often against a terrible Redskins defense.

Posted: 9/18/2013 12:09am et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (knee) received favorable results from the MRI on his left knee Monday, Sept. 16. 'The tests (Monday) were encouraging,' head coach Jim Schwartz said Tuesday, Sept. 17. 'He's going to be sore, but he doesn't have anything that's long term. I guess it could be medium term. It's too hard to speculate on injuries, and that's why I usually don't.'

Huddle Up: In the meantime, fantasy GMs have to work on the short-term basis, and until we hear otherwise, plan on Bush being absent Joique Bell getting the start in Week 3.

Posted: 9/16/2013 2:32pm et

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said the MRI on RB Reggie Bush's (knee) knee showed no significant damage.

Huddle Up: This is good news, but given his injury history, it might be best to sell while you can. Joique Bell has looked great for the Lions, and Bush might have seen his best fantasy day in Week 1.

Posted: 9/15/2013 5:27pm et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (leg) has left the Week 2 game with a left leg injury.

Huddle Up: It looked like Bush got punched in the knee. Hopefully this isn't serious, but Joique Bell is performing well in his place so far.

Posted: 9/11/2013 2:06pm et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (groin, thumb) was participating during the media-access portion of practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Huddle Up: He played through it rather well, but this is a good sign heading into Week 2.

Posted: 9/10/2013 10:29am et

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said he has no plans to limit RB Reggie Bush's workload. It was also divulged that he was bothered by a hip ailment. "Reggie's a tough guy," Schwartz said. "There's probably, I don't know how many running backs that carry or touch the ball as many times as he did yesterday, but anybody that did is probably experiencing the same kind of things today. His thumb happened on a pass. That's life in the big city. You're a running back in the NFL, there's going to be some Mondays where you're not going to be feeling great. Feel a little bit better when you get the win and when you make the plays that he made. That's what we're looking for from him and not anything else."

Huddle Up: We'll see how Bush holds up to multiple weeks of this workload, but if the Lions continue to spell him with Joique Bell Detroit should have a formidable backfield presence all season long.

Posted: 9/9/2013 10:25am et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush had 21 carries for 90 yards and four catches for 101 yards and a score in Week 1.

Huddle Up: We knew Bush would be a factor in the passing game in Detroit, but the 21 carries and 90 yards is a boost to the ground game as well. Nothing wrong with 191 yards from scrimmage.

Posted: 6/20/2013 1:50pm et

Detroit Lions special teams coordinator John Bonamego said RB Reggie Bush will have a role as a punt returner but likely will be used as a situational returner.

Huddle Up: Still hard to believe Bush will see too much special-teams work after all the issues the Lions have had finding a reliable RB and keeping them healthy in recent seasons.

Posted: 6/3/2013 11:32pm et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush said he believes the team should have the top offense in the NFL this season. "Honestly, I believe there's no excuse for us not to have the No. 1-ranked offense. We have all the right pieces and the necessary players here to be the top offense in the league. No excuse," Bush said.

Huddle Up: Well, if Reggie says the Lions will have the top offense then better move he and Matthew Stafford up your draft boards. Or you could just keep Calvin Johnson atop the receiver board and hope Stafford is able to turn his abundant passing attempts into more touchdowns this season with some help from Megatron's supporting cast, including Bush.

Posted: 5/24/2013 10:36pm et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush said he is willing to be a punt returner if the team asks him to handle to role. "You know, for me, I've done it before and I don't mind it," Bush said. "I feel I can still do it if I need to, and if they want me to do it, I'll definitely go out there and return punts."

Huddle Up: The Lions would rather have Bush on the field for 16 games as a running back, but he could get a handful of opportunities to return punts as well. If you're in a league that awards fantasy points based on return yards and scores, you'll get a little bump from Bush but don't look to him for full-time return work.

Posted: 5/23/2013 12:55pm et

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush was used as a punt returner during organized team activities (OTAs) Wednesday, May 22. WR Terrence Austin, WR Patrick Edwards, RB Steven Miller, WR Mike Thomas and WR Cody Wilson also took turns returning punts.

Huddle Up: With all the injury issues the Lions have had with their RBs in recent seasons (see Best, Jahvid and Smith, Kevin), it's hard to imagine the team allowing their new No. 1 back to return punts, no matter if he is the most dangerous return man on the roster.

Posted: 5/21/2013 12:19pm et

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson is excited RB Reggie Bush signed with the Lions, because it means teams will have to defend the Lions offense differently. "It's going to force them to bring another man down, more than we had last year," Johnson said. "You know, if you don't, Reggie can make you look foolish in the open field."

Huddle Up: Instead of adding another wideout opposite Megatron, the Lions decided instead to boost the backfield, hoping that will attract more defensive attention. Looks to be a solid plan on paper, but it's all predicated on Bush staying healthy and continuing the career resurgence he displayed in his 2 seasons in Miami.
