New England Patriots TE Tim Wright was claimed off waivers by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday, June 12.

Huddle Up: Wright only adds to the Tampa TE logjam, which also includes 2014 second-round pick Austin Seferian-Jenkins, and vets Brandon Myers and Luke Stocker. ASJ should be the top -- and only Bucs' TE drafted -- but he's only a low-end TE2 with upside at best.

New England Patriots TE Tim Wright was released Thursday, June 11.

Huddle Up: Wright caught only 26 passes last season, but six of them resulted in TDs and his release opens the door for free agents Scott Chandler, Fred Davis or perhaps even sixth-round pick A.J. Derby to assume the No. 2 TE gig in N.E.

New England Patriots TE Tim Wright played a season-high 60 snaps in Week 12 against the Detroit Lions, which shattered his previous best of 21 snaps, which he hit twice. He finished with five receptions for 36 yards and two touchdowns.

Huddle Up: The Patriots are a gameplan specific team, so Wright's increase in snaps might be a one-week scenario. He's worth adding as a second tight end but Wright could go back to playing 15 snaps next week.

New England Patriots TE Timothy Wright is expected to play Thursday, Aug. 28, against the New York Giants after recently being acquired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Huddle Up: Fantasy GMs and Pats fans will get their first glimpse of Wright in a N.E. uniform, but not many of the other offensive regulars are expected to play, including Tom Brady.

The New England Patriots really like TE Timothy Wright, acquired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for OL Logan Mankins. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport even considers him as the team's 'new' Aaron Hernandez, or complement to TE Rob Gronkowski.

Huddle Up: Wright is a former college WR and not the same kind of player as Gronk. He'll play a different role in the Pats' offense. Wright showed some promise last season but for some reason he was never really embraced by the new coaching staff in Tampa Bay. Wright starts out as a TE2 in New England but once he learns the offense, he has upside because of his physical skills.
