Colorado Springs Gazette reports Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels said he has been impressed with TE Tony Scheffler this offseason. 'He's capable of doing a lot of things, we're moving him around the field quite a bit,' McDaniels said. 'Tony is a very, very highly skilled player. He can run, he can catch, he can block, and we're going to take advantage of every skill he has.'

The Huddle Take: With a new quarterback controlling the offense in Denver expect the Broncos to have more of a short-yardage passing attack than last season which could mean more opportunities for Tony Scheffler. Fantasy owners should consider Scheffler a prime sleeper candidate this year with the potential to post solid No. 1 tight end numbers by the end of the year.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports the Eagles may still make a run at Denver Broncos TE Tony Scheffler. The teams have talked about a deal and could deal a third-round pick in next year's draft to Denver for him.

The Huddle Take: The Broncos traded up to draft blocking tight end Richard Quinn in the second round, which the Eagles have to view as a strong indicator that Scheffler could be had.

Lindsay H. Jones and Mike Klis, of The Denver Post, report the Philadelphia Eagles called the Denver Broncos about TE Tony Scheffler. Unless the Eagles are willing to surrender a first-round draft choice for Scheffler, it is likely he will remain a member of the Broncos. Scheffler led all NFL tight ends last season with a 16.1-yards-per-catch average and has a base salary of $535,000 in 2009.

The Huddle Take: Scheffler doesn't fit what Josh McDaniels' offense will ask the tight ends to do (namely, block), but he's not worth a first-round pick—not after Tony Gonzalez went for a 2010 second-rounder. Maybe the Broncos will lower the price on draft day; otherwise, Scheffler will be a square peg in the round holes of McDaniels' offense.

The Denver Post, reports the Denver Broncos are shopping TE Tony Scheffler because of a concern that he might not fit in head coach Josh McDaniels' offensive scheme.

The Huddle Take: Scheffler is without question a valuable piece to the Denver offense from last season under Mike Shanahan but it is unclear how much of a factor the tight end will be under new coach Josh McDaniels. If Scheffler is indeed let go then that will go a long way to indicating the thought process of the Bronco offense for the near future.
