Chicago Bears TE Leonard Pope impressed head coach Marc Trestman with a solid showing as a blocked during inside drills against the defensive linemen. "I watched him out there today catching the ball. Certainly what we see is clear. We see a big man," Trestman said Monday, Aug. 5.
Huddle Up: Trestman hasn't been a big tight end guy, in part because the Canadian game doesn't really use the position. But the version of the West Coast offense he's running in Chicago has a need for big guys who present matchup problems, and in Pope and Martellus Bennett Trestman has a couple of options. Bennett still projects as the starter and best fantasy play of the bunch, but Pope's emergence in Chicago bears watching (no pun intended).
