Fantasy Outlook
Norwood comes off his worst season in the NFL when a hip injury forced him to miss six games and he only produced 252 yards on 76 carries with no rushing scores for the first time. Worse yet he fell from a 5.1 yard rushing average to only 3.3 last year. He’ll also lose some work to Jason Snelling this time who proved to be an adequate relief and replacement player for Michael Turner. Norwood may have some marginal fantasy value as a receiver in a points per reception league but even that is a risk this year. Let Norwood remain on the waiver wire this time.

Atlanta Falcons RB Jerious Norwood is running as the team's No. 2 running back, reports Jeff Haws, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Norwood is expected to play in the team's preseason game Friday, Aug. 27.
Huddle Up: While Norwood may be the Falcons' change-of-pace back of choice for now, if Michael Turner were to go down you can expect plenty of Jason Snelling. Norwood has struggled to stay healthy, which further dampens what fantasy upside he used to have.

Atlanta Falcons RB Jerious Norwood will play in the team's preseason game Friday, Aug. 27, reports Jeff Haws, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Norwood sat out the team's first two preseason game and most of training camp.
Huddle Up: This is the first season in a long time we haven't heard a great deal of "Norwood will get more touches" talk out of Atlanta. In part that's because Norwood has been battling a hip flexor injury and hasn't seen much action, but also Michael Turner looks healthy and Jason Snelling looks more than capable of filling the backup role. Norwood has to get on the field and impress to maintain a role in the Falcons' offense.

Atlanta Falcons RB Jerious Norwood (hip) said he has been battling a hip flexor injury for 10 months, according to CBSSports.com. 'Hopefully we have the problem fixed now so I can put on the pads and play ball,' Norwood said.
Huddle Up: Norwood was once a fantasy darling on everyone's sleeper list, but that was when he was sharing with Warrick Dunn. Now it's Michael Turner's football and Jason Snelling has a hold on the backup tailback job. Norwood is just trying to stay relevant as a third-down guy.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Atlanta Falcons RB Jerious Norwood (hip) participated in practice Friday, Nov. 20. He is listed as questionable for Week 11 and will be available.
Huddle Up: Norwood will take some carries from Jason Snelling this week if Michael Turner can't play, and it looks like Turner will be out. However, Snelling will likely see most of the action this week against the Giants.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Atlanta Falcons RB Jerious Norwood (hip) returned to practice Thursday, Nov. 19, after missing the last four games with an injured hip flexor.
Huddle Up: Norwood's return to practice is a good indication he'll be able to play in Week 11 against the Giants and see a significant amount of action. Those who plucked Jason Snelling off the waiver wire assuming he'd get the vast majority of carries in Michael Turner's absence may be disappointed.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons RB Jerious Norwood (hip) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 12. He is not expected to play in Week 10.
Huddle Up: Norwood continues to remain out with a hip injury that was sustained several weeks ago. As long as the talented backup running back remains out of action, fantasy owners should expect Jason Snelling to remain the primary backup to Michael Turner in the Atlanta ground attack.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Atlanta Falcons RB Jerious Norwood (hip) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 30. He is not expected to play in Week 8.
Huddle Up: Michael Turner should once again get the vast majority of carries.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Atlanta Falcons RB Jerious Norwood (hip) does not expect to play in Week 7 after suffering a hip flexor in Week 6. Norwood said he could miss a few weeks because of the injury.
Huddle Up: This leaves Jason Snelling to back up starter Michael Turner. Snelling will not provide the offense with the "change of pace" they need, and get from Norwood. Look for Turner to see a few more touches this weekend in Dallas.
Posted: 9/21/2009 10:12am et
The Associated Press reports Atlanta Falcons RB Jerious Norwood suffered a blow to the head Week 2 and did not return.
Huddle Up: NFL teams are being much more cautious with concussions and head injuries, so it wasn't surprising that the Falcons didn't rush Norwood back to action. Assuming he receives clearance this week, he should be back on the field for his limited duties in Week 3.
Posted: 9/11/2009 10:54pm et
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons RB Jerious Norwood (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 11. He is listed as probable for the team's Week 1 game.
Huddle Up: Norwood will likely only see limited action against Miami in Week 1 since Michael Turner should get the bulk of the carries. Norwood makes a decent change of pace runner and is capable of exploding for big plays when he is fully healthy.
