The Chicago Bears will release TE Evan Rodriguez Monday, June 10, following the 2012 fourth-round pick's second offseason arrest a few weeks ago.
Huddle Up: Wasn't that long ago that the Bears were considering Rodriguez for a combo H-back type of role in Marc Trestman's new offense; now Trestman can use a fringe player to send a message about what kind of behavior he's looking for from his team.

The Chicago Bears have no intention of cutting FB Evan Rodriguez because of his DUI arrest Friday, May 31.
Huddle Up: If teams cut players with DUIs they'd be hard-pressed to fill out their 53-man rosters. But Rodriguez can expect to have a chat with Roger Goodell and perhaps sit out a game or two before resuming H-back duties in Chicago.

Chicago Bears FB Evan Rodriguez was ticketed for DUI, speeding and improper lane usage Thursday, May 31.
Huddle Up: That's not the way to earn more playing time. Rodriguez could see a one- or two-game slap on the wrist from the league, which might loosen his hold on the fullback/H-back role he was projected to have in Chicago's offense.

Chicago Bears FB Evan Rodriguez worked exclusively at fullback during the team's minicamp this week. Tight end coach Andy Bischoff said the team could use Rodriguez in a hybrid role next season.
Huddle Up: With Brandon Marshall, Matt Forte, and Alshon Jeffery already staking claims to the ball, even a hybrid role isn't likely to generate much fantasy relevance for Rodriguez.

Chicago Bears general manager Phil Emery said the team will try TE Evan Rodriguez out in different roles during offseason workouts and training camp until they find the best role for him.
Huddle Up: Maybe Rodriguez will provide Marc Trestman with the pass-catching tight end his West Coast offense is looking for, but don't be surprised if the Bears bring in a couple other options at the position as well.
