Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins said it would be tough to return to the team in 2015 if QB Robert Griffin III was given the starting job. Cousins said he would talk to the front office.

Huddle Up: Cousins shone briefly after taking over for RG3 earlier this year, but then appeared to be exposed once teams got some film on him. Still, he may warrant a starting shot elsewhere as he no longer wants to be a part of the Jay Gruden/RG3 circus in Washington.

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins is not in danger of being benched in favor of QB Colt McCoy after the team lost their fourth straight game in Week 6, according to head coach Jay Gruden. Cousins now leads the league with eight interceptions, with seven of them coming in the last three games.

Huddle Up: Cousins has been better in fantasy, ranking sixth with an average of 24.11 fantasy points per game, since replacing the injured RGIII in Week 2 and is a low-end QB1/QB2 in 10- and 12-team leagues despite his struggles.

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins completed 19 of his 33 pass attempts for 257 yards and had one touchdown and four interceptions Thursday, Sept. 25. He also lost a fumble in the team's 45-14 loss to the New York Giants.

Huddle Up: Well nothing like a five-turnover disaster to tromp on the Cousins bandwagon brakes. He'll still be starting, of course, for the at least the next month or so but any talk of him securing the long-term starting gig was effectively thrown away Thursday night.

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins has played well in relief of QB Robert Griffin III both this season and last year, but there is a trend that has continued in Cousins' two games this year: Teams have been able to figure him out as the games go along. He completed his first 12 passes against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2 and opened the game with eight straight completions against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3, but then he completed only around half of his remaining throws in those games. Down the stretch last year, Cousins' stats were worse with each loss, and he threw four touchdowns to five interceptions down the stretch.

Huddle Up: Something to definitely keep an eye on, but wait for clear signs of regression before you start thinking about removing him from your starting lineup.

Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden did not rule out QB Kirk Cousins permanently replacing QB Robert Griffin III at quarterback. 'Crazy things have happened in NFL,' Gruden said. 'I'm not going to discount anything'

Huddle Up: Some wins and more than a one-game sample will be needed, but 30-of-48, 427 yards and three TDs wasn't too shabby of a starting point.

Washington Redskins general manager Bruce Allen said the team never came close to trading QB Kirk Cousins during the draft.

Huddle Up: For now, it looks like the 2012 4th-round pick will spend a third straight season backing up RGIII. Cousins has started 4 games in his first 2 seasons.

The Cleveland Browns offered the Washington Redskins a fourth-round pick for QB Kirk Cousins, according to sources. However, the Redskins wanted a higher pick, likely a second-round pick.

Huddle Up: The Browns were always viewed as the most likely destination for Cousins, given their need for a quarterback and new OC Kyle Shanahan's familiarity with the Redskins roster. However, drafting Johnny Manziel in the first round, as well as Washington's asking price, should put an end to the Cousins-to-Cleveland speculation.

The Cleveland Browns could consider pursuing a trade for Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins since they have 10 draft picks.

Huddle Up: Ah, we see the Cousins-Browns trade rumors are heating up again, just in time for the upcoming draft. One way or another, the Browns will emerge with a new QB over the next few weeks with Brian Hoyer being the only experienced signal-caller currently on the roster.

The Washington Redskins would look to acquire a second-round draft choice if they are willing to trade QB Kirk Cousins this offseason. It is not known if the team has had any trade talks with other teams.

Huddle Up: Cousins was a third-round selection a couple years back, so getting a second-rounder would be a big plus for the Redskins. Whether they can actually make that happen, however, remains to be seen; a third-round pick seems a far more likely price.

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins isn't expected to be traded unless some team grossly overpays for him. It is believed Cousins hurt his stock and value by struggling in three starts in December, and will not come close to fetching a high-round draft pick.

Huddle Up: Cousins threw for only 747 yards, 4 TDs and 5 INTs in his 3 starts, and it's looking like he'll spend at least another season backing up RGIII.

  • Posted: 2/3/2014 8:17pm ET

With the Cleveland Browns hiring former Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, there is speculation that the Browns could make a play to trade for Redskins backup QB Kirk Cousins, after he expressed a desire to be traded in order to be a starter with a team. Shanahan has spent the last two years coaching Cousins in Washington.

Huddle Up: It doesn't take much to connect the dots: the Browns need a quarterback, Shanahan has worked with Cousins, and Cousins wants out. In fact, it makes so much sense it probably won't happen.

  • Posted: 2/2/2014 5:54pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins is open to being traded in hopes of becoming a starting quarterback. Cousins has already talked to the team about possibly being moved. One team that could show interest in Cousins is the Cleveland Browns.

Huddle Up: With RGIII entrenched in D.C., there's no future for Cousins with the Skins, and with new coach Jay Gruden taking the reins, look for the team to deal him to the highest bidder and upgrade another area of need.
