The Oakland Raiders waived QB Tyler Wilson on Sunday, Sept 1.

Huddle Up: The 4th-round pick from Arkansas was once thought to have an outside chance at earning some playing time in Oakland his rookie season, but he's now a practice-squad candidate after apparently getting beat out by college free-agent Matt McGloin who's listed behind Matt Flynn and Terrelle Pryor on the current Silver & Black depth chart.

Oakland Raiders QB Tyler Wilson struggled in his first day of training camp Friday, July 26, tossing three interceptions in a four-pass span. However, Wilson did make nice throws during other portions of practice, and he showed nice zip on his passes.

Huddle Up: It will be difficult for Wilson to press Matt Flynn and Terrell Pryor for playing time if he's consistently throwing the ball to guys in the wrong jersey, but it's plenty early and the Raiders would prefer to bring Wilson along slowly behind a successful Flynn.

The Oakland Raiders signed rookie QB Tyler Wilson, the team's fourth-round draft pick, Tuesday, July 23. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Huddle Up: Newly acquired Matt Flynn is the favorite to start, but don't sleep on Wilson, the former Arkansas standout. After all, at this time last year, Flynn was the front-runner to start in Seattle, before a rookie 3rd-round pick by the name of Russell Wilson cleanly and clearly beat him out in the preseason.

Oakland Raiders QB Tyler Wilson is "miles ahead" of where recent Raiders quarterbacks arrived as draft picks. He could possibly climb to No. 2 on the depth chart before the season is over.

Huddle Up: On the heels of the JaMarcus Russell debacle the Raiders haven't exactly invested heavily in the quarterback position, so for a fourth-round pick to emerge and develop would be a welcome boost to the organization.
