San Francisco 49ers LB Ahmad Brooks (illness) is fighting a 'severe head cold' but took part in a walk-through Thursday, Jan. 16, and is planning to practice. He has been dealing with an illness for a few days. Brooks was wearing a head wrap and multiple layers of clothes. 'I'm feeling all right,' Brooks said between workouts. 'Just got a head cold, a severe cold. I'm trying to sweat it out as much as possible and get ready for the game.' He is expected to be able to play in the NFC Championship Game.
Huddle Up: Sorry Seahawks fans, count on seeing Brooks, who tied for the team lead with 8.5 sacks, had seven passes defensed and had 72 total tackles.

The Santa Clara County district attorney has decided not to pursue charges against San Francisco 49ers LB Ahmad Brooks in the alleged assault of DT Lamar Divens. New evidence that includes an account of a rough-housing incident between the two as well as demands for $1 million from Divens helped to convince the DA that he would have difficulty getting a conviction. It's not clear whether the league will examine Brooks' case and seek to hand out its own discipline. The 49ers released a statement that said, '... we look forward to moving on from this situation and will have no further comment.'
Huddle Up: Brooks has run afoul of the law and the NFL conduct code before, but with no charges, this latest incident doesn't appear to warrant any discipline from the league.
