Updating an immediate report, Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz signed a five-year, $42.5 million deal with $20 million in guarantees Monday, Jan. 25. The deal makes him the fourth-highest-paid tight end in the league. Ertz can earn a maximum of $45.8 million because of $300,000 Pro Bowl incentives and $3 million in Pro Bowl salary escalators.

Huddle Up: Tight ends can flourish in the West Coast offense, which is what new coach Doug Pederson will run in Philadelphia. Here's hoping the Eagles use Ertz a bit more consistently than Pederson's Chiefs used the similarly talented Travis Kelce in Kansas City.

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz had nine catches for 152 yards in a 35-30 win over the New York Giants in Week 17.

Huddle Up: After a slow start to the season, Ertz closed out the year catching 35 balls for 450 yards and a touchdowns in his final four games. Ertz has teased fantasy owners before but he could finally be primed for a breakout campaign in 2016.

  • Posted: 12/1/2015 1:57pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (concussion) was cleared to practice Tuesday, Dec. 1, or the first time since suffering a concussion Nov. 22.

Huddle Up: Ertz was heavily involved in the Philly offense, averaging 7.6 targets, 5.2 receptions and 55.6 yards in the five games before getting injured Week 11, and it looks like he'll be back at a good time with a number of other tight ends going down last weekend.

  • Posted: 11/24/2015 5:07pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz will not play Thursday, Nov. 26, against the Detroit Lions as he will still be in the concussion protocol.

Huddle Up: Tough timing for Ertz who had averaged 5.2 catches and 55.6 yards over the five games prior to Week 11 as the Eagles were increasingly involving the tight ends in the offense. That makes compatriot Brent Celek a sneaky TE play this week.

  • Posted: 11/18/2015 5:21pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has been using more two-tight ends sets with TEs Zach Ertz and Brent Celek to better suit the skill set of his tight ends and RB DeMarco Murray. The Eagles has emphasized '12' personnel two-tight end sets for two straight weeks and have been rewarded with 202 combined receiving yards from Ertz and Celek.

Huddle Up: More bad news for those who own a Philly WR -- Jordan Matthews in particular -- but this is what it's come to after all the drops and injuries which have besieged the Eagles' wideouts.

  • Posted: 9/15/2015 9:50am ET

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz had three receptions for 24 yards in the Week 1 game against the Atlanta Falcons Monday, Sept. 14.

Huddle Up: Not a big day for Ertz, but the fact that he was on the field at all after missing the preseason with a groin injury should make those who invested a draft pick in him feel better.

  • Posted: 9/14/2015 6:53pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (groin) is active Monday, Sept. 14, against the Atlanta Falcons.

Huddle Up: Ertz has been dealing with a groin issue all preseason, but is there if you need him, although we don't really know how healthy he is. Also, the continued presence of fellow TE Brent Celek presents the potential for fantasy frustration.

  • Posted: 9/11/2015 6:30pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (groin) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 11.

Huddle Up: Ertz continues to look iffy at best and considering the Eagles don't play until Monday night, it's time for his fantasy owners to get another TE in their Week 1 lineups.

  • Posted: 9/8/2015 10:15pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (groin) has been cleared to return to practice, according to a source. Ertz is not guaranteed to practice, but if he does, he will not be restricted. His Week 1 status is still uncertain.

Huddle Up: Good initial news here with Ertz, but much still remains up in the air, and if he's your starting tight end, get another plan at the ready for Week 1.

  • Posted: 9/3/2015 10:52pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (groin) is unsure about his Week 1 status after missing most of the preseason and could be limited to passing downs and two-tight end sets when he returns from injury.

Huddle Up: Ertz was projected as a TE1 in most rankings this summer, but between the injury and his lack of improvement, it looks like old standby Brent Celek is the Philly tight end you want to own.

  • Posted: 8/26/2015 9:33pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (groin) has not been ruled out for Week 1 at this point, according to offense coordinator Pat Shurmur.

Huddle Up: Shurmur also didn't say Ertz would be ready to play. He should be considered highly questionable for Week 1's game against Atlanta. Brent Celek will draw the start if Erz can't go.

  • Posted: 8/14/2015 4:37pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (groin) underwent surgery on his injured groin Friday, Aug. 14, and he will miss the entire preseason.

Huddle Up: Ertz was hurt in practice Wednesday, Aug. 12, and the Eagles are tentatively confidence that he'll be back in time for the team's Sept. 14 regular-season opener. That might be pushing things, though, making for some anxious fantasy GMs as Ertz has been the 11th tight end off the board on average so far in fantasy drafts.

  • Posted: 6/30/2015 11:19pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz is expected to see a sizable jump in snaps this season.

Huddle Up: Ertz saw his 2013 numbers (57 targets-36 receptions-469 yards-4 TDs) increase almost across the board last season (89-58-702-3) and don't be shocked to see a similar leap in Year Three.

  • Posted: 6/20/2015 9:47am ET

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz has spent the offseason traveling around the country to improve as a blocker and a receiver, head coach Chip Kelly said Thursday, June 18, and RB Darren Sproles said Ertz is 'about to be a superstar.'

Huddle Up: Plenty of reasons to like Ertz's fantasy prospects this year, and if he has Chip on board that bodes well for his opportunity.

  • Posted: 6/15/2015 5:10pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz has developed chemistry with QB Sam Bradford this offseason. The Bradford to Ertz connection has supposedly been commonplace at organized team activities. Ertz is excited for what Bradford can bring to the offense. 'I think we will get back to some of the deep plays,' Ertz said. 'I'll do anything I can to get open.' Ertz added that Bradford has a strong, accurate arm and can put the ball up high where Ertz is able to go up and catch it.

Huddle Up: Developing a bond with your quarterback is always a good thing as receivers look to get a larger slice of the passing game pie. Now Ertz has to hope the quarterback he's building rapport with is able to stay on the field for 16 games.

  • Posted: 6/3/2015 3:13pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz was overthrown 18.0% of the time when he has targeted by the quarterback in 2014, which was the second highest number among tight ends.

Huddle Up: Philly now has Sam Bradford at the helm, so maybe those overthrows will stop and allow Ertz to live up to his considerable potential as one of the top fantasy tight ends.
