New Orleans Saints RB Mike Bell (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 15. He likely will be able to play in Week 6.

The Huddle Take: Fantasy owners should expect Bell to get some limited work in Week 6 with starter Pierre Thomas likely to get the bulk of the carries. Bell looked good early in the season before injuring his knee but will likely be eased back into action slowly this week.

Mike Triplett, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports Saints RB Mike Bell said he will be able to practice fully next week.

The Huddle Take: Bell has been sidelined with a knee injury; in the interim, Pierre Thomas has taken his job. Fantasy owners have to hope this doesn't turn into a three-headed committee, which is what Sean Payton indicated might happen during the preseason.

Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports New Orleans Saints RB Mike Bell will not play in Week 4. The Saints would like to wait until after their bye week to have him play again.

The Huddle Take: This isn't unexpected, but at least it reduces the number of potential ball carriers in what has become a potent Saints running game.

New Orleans Saints RB Mike Bell (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 1. He likely will not play in Week 4, but could be back for Week 6.

The Huddle Take: Pierre Thomas will once again get the bulk of the carries this week. If Thomas plays well against the tough Jet defense, that could quell any further talk of Bell cutting into Thomas' workload once Bell returns.

FOXSports.com reports New Orleans Saints RB Mike Bell (knee) probably will not play in Week 3 but the knee injury he suffered is not as bad as first feared.

The Huddle Take: Pierre Thomas should get most of the Saints' rushing opportunities this week against Buffalo.

Mike Triplett, of The New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports New Orleans Saints RB Pierre Thomas should be able to receive a heavier workload in the team's Week 3 game, particularly if RB Mike Bell is unable to play.

The Huddle Take: Bell received his opportunity when Thomas went down with a knee injury. Now, with Bell nicked up, Thomas should have every opportunity to win his job back. The Saints have been running a bit more than anticipated, primarily because they've built large leads and looked to run out the clock in the second half. If that trend continues, it will be a boost to the bottom line of whichever back (or backs) the Saints employ to run between the tackles.

Scout.com, reports New Orleans Saints RB Mike Bell (knee) might have an MCL sprain, according to a league source. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI Monday, Sept. 21.

The Huddle Take: This is certainly terrible news for Mike Bell and fantasy owners who had picked him up in anticipation of his success in Week 1. With Pierre Thomas also just coming back from a knee injury, Reggie Bush figures to get more carries in the near future until another running back can step up and take part of the workload. Bell will be evaluated further next week to determine how severe the injury is and how much time he may miss.
