Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill rushed four times for 16 yards while RB Giovani Bernard rushed twice for two yards with two catches for 30 yards in Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills.

Huddle Up: Hill and Bernard are well behind Joe Mixon for touches in the Cincinnati backfield, as the rookie had 15 rushes for 51 yards and a touchdown. As such, they're only worth using in the deepest of fantasy leagues right now. Cincinnati is off in Week 6 before traveling to Pittsburgh in Week 7.

  • Posted: 10/1/2017 1:26pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard caught three passes for 67 yards and one touchdown against the Cleveland Browns in Week 4. He also rushed for 12 yards on three carries during the game.

Huddle Up: Bernard is being used mostly in the passing game and has become a reliable target for Andy Dalton. He can be a solid flex option in point-per-reception leagues most weeks because of his role in the passing game.

  • Posted: 9/29/2017 5:39pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (thigh) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 29, and is not on the injury report for Week 4.

Huddle Up: Bernard likely will receive limited snaps with Joe Mixon taking over as the team's main running back. He should still be involved in the passing game and could be a flex option in some point-per-reception leagues.

  • Posted: 9/28/2017 1:16pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (thigh) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 28.

Huddle Up: Bernard should have a decent chance to play in Week 4, but owners will need to check the inactive list. Bernard probably will be losing touches to Joe Mixon moving forward but will still have a role in the passing game. He can be a flex option for owners in point-per-reception leagues.

  • Posted: 9/27/2017 1:14pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (thigh) was listed as a limited participant for practice Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Huddle Up: Even if Bernard is able to play in Week 4 he isn't a terribly attractive play due to the emergence of Joe Mixon. The Bengals have a three-headed monster in the backfield and Bernard's touches were limited to just five total in Week 3. He saw eight touches in Week 1, and seven total touches in Week 2. He is only worth using on a regular basis in deeper PPR formats as long as Mixon and Hill are also healthy.

  • Posted: 9/25/2017 3:30pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon received 34 offensive snaps in the team's Week 3 game. RB Jeremy Hill received 14 snaps, while RB Giovani Bernard received 13 snaps.

Huddle Up: It appears Mixon will be the No. 1 running back for the Bengals moving forward, which makes him a valuable option for fantasy owners. He can be a No. 2 running back or a flex option most weeks. Hill can be considered a flex option against certain opponents in standard leagues, while Bernard can be a flex option in point-per-reception leagues.

  • Posted: 9/14/2017 9:42pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard managed just 10 yards on five carries Thursday, Sept. 14, against the Houston Texans. Bernard was targeted four times in the passing game, which led to two catches for 16 yards.

Huddle Up: On some level it makes sense to ease Bernard, who tore his ACL last November, back into action, but it's unclear that's what's happening as all three of Cincinnati's RBs are getting just a handful of touches each game. Bernard offers a unique skill set and should eventually hold value in PPR leagues, however, so don't cut bait just yet.

  • Posted: 9/10/2017 6:19pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard rushed seven times for 40 yards in Week 1 against Baltimore and he added one catch for 39 yards.

Huddle Up: Bernard, Jeremy Hill and Joe Mixon nearly split the carries evenly, but Bernard had the most production with 79 total yards. As such, Bernard looks like the more attractive of the trio from a fantasy perspective heading into Week 2 against the Texans on Thursday night.

  • Posted: 9/8/2017 8:56pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard should maintain his role on passing downs to start the year, according to Paul Dehner Jr. of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Huddle Up: Bernard will likely find carries tough to come by with Joe Mixon and Jeremy Hill also in the mix, but his skills as a receiver make him a RB4 candidate in PPR formats.

  • Posted: 9/8/2017 9:17am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RBs Jeremy Hill, Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard are expected to begin the season in a committee, according to running backs coach Kyle Caskey. 'You plan initially for it and try to put guys in the right places for what their talents can do and once the game gets going there is a flow to it. If a guy does have a little juice to him at that time then you stick with him,' Caskey said.

Huddle Up: The Bengals have a history of taking it easy on their rookie running backs, but it seems a bit ridiculous in this case, as Hill hasn't been very effective or efficient since his rookie season in 2014. Mixon is the superior talent, so owners need to remain patient. About the only near-certainties in Cincinnati's backfield are that Bernard is expected to see most of the third-down work and Hill is likely to get the bulk of the work at the goal line. It's up to Mixon to make it obvious he needs to be playing the rest of the time.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) made his preseason debut Sunday, Aug. 27, rushing four times for 25 yards in a 23-17 loss to the Washington Redskins.

Huddle Up: With Joe Mixon and Jeremy Hill part of the backfield, Bernard will likely be used mainly on passing downs. He is someone to target in PPR formats as a RB4.

  • Posted: 8/11/2017 3:39pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) and WR John Ross (shoulder) will not play in the preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Friday, Aug. 11.

Huddle Up: Both players are coming back from surgeries and likely will play later in the preseason. Bernard will be part of a committee at running back and may be used as more of a receiver out of the backfield. He could be considered a No. 4 running back in point-per-reception leagues. Ross should be used as a deep threat in the passing game this season and could be a No. 5 receiver in some leagues.

  • Posted: 7/28/2017 5:00pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) looked very impressive during practice Friday, July 28, in the opinion of The Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner Jr. Bernard is eight months recovered from suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Huddle Up: It appears Bernard is close to full strength but probably will receives some days off during camp. He will be part of a committee with Jeremy Hill and Joe Mixon but should be used as a receiver out of the backfield. Owners should keep an eye on during the preseason to see what his role will be in the offense. He probably will be more valuable in point-per-reception leagues and could be a No. 4 running back in some leagues.

  • Posted: 7/24/2017 6:53am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) is likely to be cleared for the beginning of training camp. Bernard is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Huddle Up: Joe Mixon has been the talk of camp, and Bernard could be used sparingly behind Mixon and Jeremy Hill. There is still some PPR luster, but the upside isn't what it once was. Look at him as an RB4 in fantasy.

  • Posted: 5/28/2017 5:35pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon could serve as the third-down back for the first few games as RB Giovani Bernard (knee) works his way back from knee surgery, according to beat writer Geoff Hobson, and Hobson believes Mixon will be a big part of the running back rotation even when Bernard is healthy.

Huddle Up: The Bengals drafted Mixon to add some explosiveness to the running game, so he is going to be worked into the offense one way or another. He is a high-upside RB4 in redraft leagues and a first-round pick in rookie drafts.

  • Posted: 5/22/2017 12:50pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) will be a limited participant when organized team activities begin Tuesday, May 23. He continues to recover from a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered last season.

Huddle Up: Bernard should be healthy enough to play by the time the regular season rolls around, but the Bengals may take it easy with him for starters. The presence of rookie Joe Mixon and Jeremy Hill make it easier for Bernard to recover. Considering the serious injury and the competition at the position, Bernard is best drafted as an RB4 in PPR formats.

  • Posted: 3/3/2017 2:44pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) is making progress in his recovery from the torn anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered during the season, according to head coach Marvin Lewis.

Huddle Up: Bernard likely will be sidelined for all of the offseason workouts but could be ready for training camp. Bernard will be part of a committee at the position once he is ready to play and may be used more in the passing game. Fantasy owners can consider Bernard a No. 3 or No. 4 running back if he is healthy next season.

  • Posted: 2/19/2017 8:16am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) is making solid progress in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament and could avoid landing on the PUP list, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. However, Hobson believes there is still a possibility that he could miss the first game or two of the 2017 regular season.

Huddle Up: With RBs Cedric Peerman and Rex Burkhead set to become free agents, Jeremy Hill could open the 2017 campaign as the starting running back in Cincinnati, although the Bengals could target someone during the early rounds of the draft. In the event that Bernard is available for the season opener, Hill is still worthy of consideration as a flex option in many fantasy formats because the team is likely to use him as a goal-line specialist.

  • Posted: 11/22/2016 12:09pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Nov. 22. Bernard suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in Week 11.

Huddle Up: No surprise here. This will be Jeremy Hill's backfield now, but Rex Burkhead should see a larger role, particularly in the passing game. Even with Hill being featured now, though, he draws a really tough test in the Baltimore Ravens this week. Expecting a breakout performance as the featured back right away would be naïve.

  • Posted: 11/20/2016 8:58pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the Week 11 game against the Buffalo Bills, a source said Sunday, Nov. 20.

Huddle Up: With Bernard done for the season it will be Jeremy Hill handling the majority of the backfield touches down the stretch. Rex Burkhead might benefit from a few extra touches, while Tyler Eifert could picked up a few more targets in the pass game as a result.

  • Posted: 11/20/2016 3:01pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard rushed for 21 yards on seven carries against the Buffalo Bills in Week 11. He also caught five passes for 40 yards in the game.

Huddle Up: Bernard has received a decent amount of touches over the past few weeks but has not posted great numbers. He will continue to be involved in the running and passing game and can be a flex option in most fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 11/14/2016 8:52pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard rushed seven times for 17 yards in the Week 10 game against the New York Giants Monday, Nov. 14, and he added three receptions for 19 yards on five targets.

Huddle Up: It was a bit of a disappointment from a fantasy perspective, especially for PPR owners, as his catch total and yardage was well under his average. In fact, over the past three games he has just five grabs for 40 yards while the past two games he there has been more emphasis on the run. Tonight, he did neither very well. He remains a solid RB2 in most PPR leagues and he looks to rebound in Week 11 against Buffalo.

  • Posted: 10/30/2016 1:09pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard rushed for 52 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries against the Washington Redskins in Week 8. He also caught one pass for 14 yards during the game.

Huddle Up: Bernard has been a versatile running back for the Bengals this season and will continue to be involved in the running and passing game moving forward. He should be a fine flex option against most opponents.

  • Posted: 10/23/2016 2:11pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard rushed for 80 yards and one touchdown on 17 carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 7.

Huddle Up: Bernard has received at least 10 carries in three of the last four games but had not rushed for more than 50 yards in any game before Week 7. Bernard has more value in point-per-reception leagues because he has a solid role in the passing game. He should be considered a No. 2 running back or a flex option in most fantasy leagues.
