Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard rushed three times for seven yards and caught two passes for 13 yards in a 26-21 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 14.

Huddle Up: Bernard has taken a back seat to Joe Mixon, and his role has only decreased amid a rash of injuries to the Cincinnati offense. He is only a handcuff to Mixon at this point.

  • Posted: 12/2/2018 3:03pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard rushed five times for 14 yards in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos and he added six receptions for 32 yards on eight targets.

Huddle Up: Bernard did OK for those using him as a low-end RB3 or flex option in PPR, but he has very little use in standard play as long as Joe Mixon is healthy. The Bengals travel to meet the Chargers in Week 14.

  • Posted: 11/25/2018 3:45pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard managed just one run for 10 yards and one catch for 12 yards in Week 12 against the Cleveland Browns.

Huddle Up: Head coach Marvin Lewis was rolling with the hot hand, and that was Joe Mixon. He had a season-best 155 total yards from scrimmage. Bernard's touches and production has been rather limited with Mixon back to full health, and he is a risky fantasy play going forward.

  • Posted: 11/18/2018 2:50pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard caught four passes for 20 yards against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 11. He also rushed for five yards on two carries during the game.

Huddle Up: Bernard had a similar performance last week and is still working his way back into the offense after missing several weeks. He probably should be avoided in all leagues until he is able to post better numbers.

  • Posted: 11/11/2018 6:53am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) is expected to play in Week 10's game against the New Orleans Saints, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Bernard was listed as questionable on the injury report after being a limited practice participant throughout the week. Assuming that he is active versus the Saints, he should only be considered as a starting option in PPR fantasy leagues due to the presence of a healthy Joe Mixon.

  • Posted: 11/9/2018 2:04pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) was limited in practice for a third straight day Friday, Nov. 9, and officially he is listed as questionable for Week 10 against the New Orleans Saints.

Huddle Up: Bernard has been trending toward a return, but his touches are likely to be limited returning from an injury and playing behind a healthy Joe Mixon. If he is active Sunday he should only be starting for fantasy owners in deeper PPR formats.

  • Posted: 11/9/2018 9:42am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) on Friday, Nov. 9, was listed as questionable for Week 10 with a knee injury but is expected to play.

Huddle Up: One of the few Bengals trending in the right health direction, Bernard is expected back after being sidelined since Week 4, but there is real question on how many snaps he'll be able to handle spelling Joe Mixon. Aside from a deep-league emergency, keep Bernard benched until we see what his workload will be.

  • Posted: 11/8/2018 11:49am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 8.

Huddle Up: If Bernard is upgraded to a full practice tomorrow then he'll be active for Week 10. Even if he is active he will be relegated to backup duties behind Joe Mixon. Only start him as a deep PPR flex if you're desperate.

  • Posted: 11/7/2018 2:17pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Huddle Up: Check back on Bernard's injury designation on Friday before deciding on him for Week 10. However, for fantasy purposes, his usefulness is rather limited as long as Joe Mixon is healthy. Bernard's value is limited to deeper PPR formats at the moment.

  • Posted: 11/5/2018 9:59am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) was back at practice Monday, Nov. 5.

Huddle Up: It's the first time Bernard has participated in football activities since his Week 4 injury. Joe Mixon has a solid grasp on his feature-back role, but Bernard has typically been very productive whenever he's been asked to fill in - be it as a spot starter or as a complementary back. Bernard is unlikely to have much fantasy value with Mixon healthy, but he's worth a stash in most leagues in case the second-year back goes down.

  • Posted: 10/26/2018 9:40am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) did not practice Friday, Oct. 26, and has been ruled out of the Week 8 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Huddle Up: Bernard was productive as a Joe Mixon fill-in in Weeks 3 and 4 but has not played since with his knee issue. Cincy has a bye in Week 9, and Bernard should be back in Week 10 so he's definitely worth hanging on to for Mixon owners.

  • Posted: 10/25/2018 11:22am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 25.

Huddle Up: It appears like Bernard will miss at least one more week, so Joe Mixon should continue to receive most of the work at running back. Mixon can be considered a low-end No. 1 running back in most leagues this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

  • Posted: 10/19/2018 9:46am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) will not play in Week 7 versus the Kansas City Chiefs.

Huddle Up: This will be Bernard's third straight absence. It sets Joe Mixon for another heavy workload in a great matchup, so owners can feel good about getting low-end RB1 production from him.

  • Posted: 10/18/2018 11:36am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee, toe) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 18.

Huddle Up: Bernard probably will miss at least one more game, so owners should continue to monitor his progress. Joe Mixon will continue to receive most of the work at running back and can be a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 running back this week.

  • Posted: 10/17/2018 2:35pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee, toe) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 17.

Huddle Up: Bernard is nursing a couple of injuries. That coupled with the fact Joe Mixon is back means that Bernard goes back to being more of a low-end RB3 or flex option in PPR formats, with lesser value in standard play when he is healthy.

  • Posted: 10/5/2018 9:59am ET

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) has been diagnosed with an MCL sprain and is expected to be out two to four weeks, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Huddle Up: Joe Mixon returns just in time for the Bengals, but it seems unlikely he'll be given a full complement of carries so soon after missing two weeks following a knee scope. Owners in deeper leagues should entertain the thought of adding Mark Walton, who impressed in limited playing time in Week 4 and could be in line for a handful of touches if Mixon isn't quite in peak condition yet.

  • Posted: 10/5/2018 9:43am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 5 versus the Miami Dolphins.

Huddle Up: Joe Mixon is no longer on the injury report and will almost certainly reclaim his role as a 20-touch workhorse in a favorable matchup. Owners should not hesitate to plug him back into their lineups as a result.

  • Posted: 10/5/2018 8:17am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) is out of practice Friday, Oct. 5, and unlikely to play in Week 5.

Huddle Up: The team leaned on Mark Walton in crunch time after Bernard went down, but Joe Mixon is back and will be a surefire RB1 against the Miami Dolphins. Walton could be worth a flex play with a great matchup.

  • Posted: 10/4/2018 9:12am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) remained sidelined at practice Thursday, Oct. 4.

Huddle Up: Bernard is headed toward a doubtful status, or at least an extremely questionable status. Joe Mixon is returning this week, and if Bernard can't play then Mixon immediately re-enters RB1 territory in a tasty matchup versus the Miami Dolphins.

  • Posted: 10/3/2018 2:23pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) missed practice Wednesday, Oct. 3.

Huddle Up: Bernard performed splendidly in Joe Mixon's absence over the last two weeks. With Mixon on the mend and Bernard now hurting, things might be back to normal in Week 5. However, Bernard could see more touches if he's at full health given his recent success.

  • Posted: 9/30/2018 2:20pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard rushed 15 times for 69 yards with two touchdowns in Week 4 against the Atlanta Falcons and he added four grabs for 27 yards on his four targets.

Huddle Up: Bernard handled the majority of the backfield workload with Joe Mixon (knee) sidelined for the second consecutive games. Bernard remains a solid low-end RB2 or flex fantasy play in PPR formats as long as Mixon remains on the shelf. The Bengals host the Dolphins in Week 5.

  • Posted: 9/28/2018 12:05pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (thigh) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 28, and is not on the injury report for Week 4.

Huddle Up: Bernard should continue to receive a majority of work at running back while Joe Mixon is sidelined. He is coming off a solid Week 3 performance and can be a No. 2 running back for owners in most leagues.

  • Posted: 9/28/2018 9:22am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (thigh) was a full participant in practice Friday, Sept. 28, after being limited the previous two days.

Huddle Up: With Joe Mixon ruled out another week, fire up Bernard as a strong RB2 play as Sunday's foe, the Atlanta Falcons, allowing the 27th-most fantasy points to opposing running backs.

  • Posted: 9/27/2018 11:44am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (thigh) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 27.

Huddle Up: Bernard probably will be able to play in Week 4 and is in line for most of the snaps at running back with Joe Mixon still sidelined. He is coming off a solid Week 3 performance and would be No. 2 running back or a flex option again this week.

  • Posted: 9/26/2018 2:39pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (thigh) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 26.

Huddle Up: It's uncertain if Bernard is really injured or just being preserved with Joe Mixon (knee) sidelined. Bernard remains a solid RB3 in most fantasy leagues, particularly PPR formats, heading into Week 4 as long as he is available. We'll have a clearer idea later in the week.

  • Posted: 9/23/2018 2:09pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard rushed 12 times for 61 yards and a touchdown in Week 3 against the Carolina Panthers and he added five grabs for 25 yards on a game-high nine targets.

Huddle Up: Bernard did a decent enough job handling the rushing duties with Joe Mixon (knee) on the shelf. He remains a decent low-end RB3 in standard play and a nice low-end RB2 or flex fantasy option in PPR leagues heading into Week 4 in Atlanta if Mixon remains sidelined.

  • Posted: 9/23/2018 9:15am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RBs Giovani Bernard and Mark Walton are the team's only two active running backs Sunday, Sept. 23, for the Week 3 game against the Carolina Panthers. RB Joe Mixon (knee) is inactive and newly signed Thomas Rawls is a healthy scratch.

Huddle Up: This is especially good news for Bernard owners as their man averaged 19 touches per game over the final five contests of last season when Mixon was out or not at full strength. Walton, a rookie fourth-round pick, will make his regular-season debut, but likely will just a see a handful of touches spelling Bernard.

  • Posted: 9/20/2018 11:48am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 20.

Huddle Up: Bernard takes over for Joe Mixon in Cincinnati's backfield and immediately becomes a low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 with extra value in PPR leagues. Claim him right away if he's still on waivers.

  • Posted: 9/19/2018 12:50pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 19.

Huddle Up: Bernard is expected to see a much bigger role this week with Joe Mixon on the shelf, and Tra Carson cut loose. The Bengals backfield is so banged up that they signed Thomas Rawls off the street, and he might be active. Circle back around Friday to check his official injury status before plugging him into your active lineup.

  • Posted: 9/17/2018 7:27pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard is expected to see an increased workload starting in Week 3 against the Carolina Panthers with RB Joe Mixon (knee) sidelined two to four weeks.

Huddle Up: Bernard will see a larger piece of the pie, but he won't be the primary back. Offensive coordinator Bill Lazor reportedly wants to keep a rotation with two running backs, so Tra Carson will also factor into the mix. Bernard is still worth a look as an RB3 or flex option in PPR leagues, with lesser appeal in standard play.

  • Posted: 9/13/2018 8:39pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard ran six times for 27 yards and caught four passes for 15 yards Thursday, Sept. 13, against the Baltimore Ravens.

Huddle Up: Bernard is clearly the second fiddle to Joe Mixon and has some appeal in PPR leagues for gamers looking to fill a flex spot.

  • Posted: 8/26/2018 6:47pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard rushed four times for three yards and caught all three of his targets for 17 yards in a 26-13 preseason win over the Buffalo Bills Sunday, Aug. 26.

Huddle Up: Bernard will open the season as the backup, but he's still worth drafting as a RB4. He is a Joe Mixon injury away from becoming a weekly RB2 option.

  • Posted: 2/28/2018 11:13am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon will be the featured running back with RB Giovani Bernard mixed in, according to director of player personnel Duke Tobin.

Huddle Up: This was to be expected, especially with the departure of Jeremy Hill. The Bengals need to better fortify their offensive line to give Mixon better opportunities for success, but Mixon has an RB2 floor if he can keep good health.

  • Posted: 12/29/2017 12:48pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 29, and is not on the injury report for Week 17.

Huddle Up: Bernard is ready to play and could receive another start if Joe Mixon is not ready to play in Week 17. He will be facing a tough Baltimore Ravens defense this week but could be at least a flex option in leagues if he starts.

  • Posted: 12/28/2017 1:46pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RBs Joe Mixon (ankle) and Giovani Bernard (ankle) were limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

Huddle Up: It remains to be seen how Cincinnati will use their running backs, but it would make sense for Bernard to see a bigger load again so as not to risk aggravation of Mixon's concussion. Bernard deserves more snaps, too, after his breakout performance in Week 16. Both are flex options right now.

  • Posted: 12/27/2017 2:00pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (ankle) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Huddle Up: Bernard went off last week with Joe Mixon limited. Mixon didn't practice today, so he could be on his way to another limited outing or he may not even play. Either way, Bernard is at worst a great PPR flex option.

  • Posted: 12/24/2017 4:10pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard rushed 23 times for 116 yards and a touchdown in Week 16 against the Detroit Lions and he added seven receptions for 52 yards on seven targets.

Huddle Up: Bernard was thrust into a lead role once Joe Mixon (ankle) went down with an early injury and he really stepped up. He is a talented player who could do this on a regular basis somewhere else in the near future.

  • Posted: 12/24/2017 11:57am ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (ankle) suffered a right ankle injury in Week 16 but is considered probable to return.

Huddle Up: Bernard is receiving most of the work at running back since Joe Mixon was sidelined and should return to the game. He can be considered a flex option next week if he receives the start.

  • Posted: 12/17/2017 1:21pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard rushed for 30 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 15. He also caught three passes for 13 yards during the game.

Huddle Up: Bernard received most of the touches at running back and had some success against the Vikings. He will lose the starting job when Joe Mixon returns to the lineup and can be avoided in most leagues at that point.

  • Posted: 12/15/2017 8:28pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard is averaging a career-high 4.5 yards per carry and a career-high 11.3 yards per reception this season.

Huddle Up: A matchup with a tough Minnesota Vikings defense isn't ideal, but if Joe Mixon doesn't clear concussion protocol, Bernard will be worthy of a starting spot in Week 15.

  • Posted: 12/15/2017 4:48pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 15, and is not on the injury report for Week 15.

Huddle Up: Bernard will start this week if Joe Mixon is ruled out but should have a decent role if Mixon is cleared to play. He can be a flex option if he starts but probably should be avoided if he is the No. 2 running back.

  • Posted: 12/14/2017 3:02pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 14.

Huddle Up: Bernard should have a good chance to play this week and could start again if Joe Mixon is not ready to play. He will be facing a tough Minnesota Vikings defense in Week 15 but can still be a flex option in some leagues if he starts.

  • Posted: 12/13/2017 12:47pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 13.

Huddle Up: It looks like there will be a heavy dose of Bernard again this week as Mixon is still in the concussion protocol. Both players' statuses will need to be monitored, but for now deploy Bernard as an RB2.

  • Posted: 12/10/2017 3:32pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard rushed 11 times for 62 yards in Week 14 against the Chicago Bears and he added six receptions for 68 yards on eight targets.

Huddle Up: Bernard showed he can still get it done, taking advantage of the absence of rookie Joe Mixon to shine and do his thing even in a loss. If Mixon is forced to miss time, Bernard is an attractive flex fantasy option, particularly in PPR formats.
