Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin (chest) will not play in Week 13's game against the New England Patriots, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Austin was listed as doubtful on the injury report and did not practice at all during the week. Kenny Britt should see most of the targets for Los Angeles and should be viewed as a WR3 or flex option in most fantasy leagues, while Todd Gurley and Brian Quick should also see more involvement in the passing game. Gurley is a viable starting option in all formats, while Quick is worthy of consideration as a flex player in deeper seasonal leagues.

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin (chest) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 2, and is listed as doubtful for Week 13.

Huddle Up: Austin was not able to practice this week, so there is a good chance that he will miss Week 13. Owners should still check on his status closer to game time but should have other options available. Kenny Britt probably will receive most of the targets among receivers and can be a No. 3 receiver or flex option in fantasy leagues. Todd Gurley and Brian Quick can also be more involved in the passing game. Gurley should be a starting option in all leagues, while Quick probably can only be a flex option in deeper leagues.

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin (chest) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 1.

Huddle Up: It remains to be seen if Austin will play, but given his lackluster production in recent weeks, you may want to leave him on your bench in Week 13 regardless of his status.

  • Posted: 11/13/2016 1:30pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin caught two passes for 19 yards and carried the ball twice for 10 yards in Week 10 against the New York Jets.

Huddle Up: Austin is not playable at this point ... he cannot create plays on his own accord and is transparently used by the coaching staff.

  • Posted: 10/23/2016 10:45am ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin caught 10 passes for 57 yards and one touchdown against the New York Giants in Week 7.

Huddle Up: Austin has been targeted at least 10 times in two of the last three games but has been held to under 60 yards in six of the seven games this season. He will continue to be the No. 1 receiver for the Rams and can be a No. 3 receiver or a flex option for owners.

  • Posted: 10/16/2016 6:25pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin posted three receptions for 24 yards in the Week 6 game against the Detroit Lions, and he added three runs for just two yards.

Huddle Up: The team wants to get the ball into Austin's hands, but Austin just cannot get into open spaces to take advantage of his blazing speed. He is only worth a look as a WR4 in deeper fantasy leagues at this point.

  • Posted: 10/9/2016 10:52pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin posted seven receptions for 59 yards on 10 targets in the Week 5 game against the Buffalo Bills and he added three runs for 26 yards.

Huddle Up: Austin has 85 or more total yards from scrimmage in two of his past three games, as the team is starting find more ways to get the ball into the dynamic and versatile receiver's hands. Still, he remains more of a low-end WR3 in most fantasy leagues heading into Week 6 against the Detroit Lions.

  • Posted: 10/2/2016 10:13pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin had just two receptions for 14 yards on six targets in the Week 4 game against the Arizona Cardinals and he had one run which netted minus-6 yards.

Huddle Up: Austin is a dynamic and versatile playmaker who has the tools to be an asset to fantasy owners, but for whatever reason the Rams fail to use him correctly. He is only worth keeping around as a WR4 in deeper fantasy leagues at this point.

  • Posted: 10/2/2016 12:31pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin (shoulder) is officially active for the team's Week 4 game.

Huddle Up: Austin has posted decent numbers in the first three weeks of the season and has been targeted at least eight times in each of the games. He should continue to be one of the main targets in the team's passing game and can be a flex option for owners.

  • Posted: 10/2/2016 7:21am ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin (shoulder) will play in Week 4's game against the Arizona Cardinals, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Austin had been listed as questionable on the club's most recent injury report but was a full participant in practice Friday, Sept. 30, after being limited in the two practices prior to that. He has been targeted 29 games through the first three games and should be viewed as a boom-or-bust WR3 option.

  • Posted: 9/30/2016 6:41pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Friday, Sept. 30, and is listed as questionable for Week 4.

Huddle Up: Double check his status on Sunday, but Austin looks like a good bet to suit up. The speedy receiver can be big-play dependent, but with 29 targets through three games, the Rams are looking his way enough to take a chance on him as a WR3.

  • Posted: 9/29/2016 8:11pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 29.

Huddle Up: Austin can make big plays as a receiver, runner and returner, but he is a boom-or-bust WR3.

  • Posted: 9/20/2016 1:09pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin is seventh among wide receivers with 21 targets through two weeks, but he has caught only nine passes for 63 yards.

Huddle Up: The volume is there, but Austin just hasn't gotten things going yet. The Rams as a whole have been stagnant on offense, which is a large part of Austin's early struggles. He has more value in return yardage leagues, but don't give up on him just yet. He faces a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense that has yielded five touchdowns to wide receivers this year.

  • Posted: 9/12/2016 10:54pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin collected four receptions for 13 yards in Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers and he added one run for two yards.

Huddle Up: It was an ugly night for the Rams offense, and Austin couldn't shake free in the mostly horizontal offensive attack. He has WR2 ability in fantasy leagues, but with shaky quarterback play he is more like a WR4 right now.

  • Posted: 8/27/2016 3:38pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin is close to signing a four-year extension worth $42 million, including $30 million guaranteed, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Huddle Up: For an offense bereft of playmakers in the passing game, the Rams had little choice but to lock up Austin. Still, it seems like a pretty good chunk of change for a receiver who had as many carries last year as receptions (52 apiece, both career highs). The size of this contract suggests Los Angeles will continue finding ways to feed him the ball into space in order to take some pressure off Todd Gurley. While he figures to be inconsistent in fantasy again this year, he's a serviceable WR3 in most leagues.

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin (leg) was dehydrated a suffered a leg cramp during practice Sunday, July 31, according to head coach Jeff Fisher.

Huddle Up: Thankfully the injury turned out to be minor, and fantasy owners can move on with their busy summer lives. Austin is a borderline third fantasy receiver heading into the heart of draft season but can be maddening to play given his inconsistency.

  • Posted: 6/2/2016 11:11am ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin may be able to double his reception totals in 2016 because opposing defenses will look to stop RB Todd Gurley, according to head coach Jeff Fisher. Austin finished the 2015 with 52 receptions for 473 yards and five touchdowns.

Huddle Up: An uptick for Austin wouldn't surprise, though it's tough to see any receiver in a Jeff Fisher offense approaching triple-digit catches. Mark it down as typical offseason coach-speak and move along.

St. Louis Rams WR Tavon Austin has been taking some handoffs during organized team activities . Austin rushed for 643 yards and three touchdowns on 72 carries last season at West Virginia.

Huddle Up: Austin finished his 4 years at WVU with 109 rushes for 1,031 yards, including 72 for 643 (8.9 average last season). The 5-foot-8, 174- pound cat-quick receiver will find defenses to be a little faster and formidable at this level, but the rookie is a bona fide dual threat in the mode of the Seahawks' Percy Harvin.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford said Thursday, June 6, that he has been impressed by the team's young group of wide receivers, and he has already noticed tremendous improvement. 'It's definitely come a long way since two, three weeks ago when we first started with those rookies,' Bradford said. 'I've been really impressed by some of the young guys that we've had -- (WR Tavon Austin) and (WR Stedman Bailey) -- I though they've done a great job. We're asking them to play a lot of different positions right now. Of course there's still mistakes, but for the most part they've been extremely sharp.'

Huddle Up: St. Louis is now West Virginia West with Bradford and the Rams banking on the 2 Mountaineer rookies who combined to catch an eye-popping 228 passes for 2,911 yards and 37 TDs from QB Geno Smith last season.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams WR Tavon Austin posted six receptions in his regular season debut in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals, finishing with 41 yards.

Huddle Up: The Rams are certainly trying to get the ball into their talented rookie's hands, which is comforting news for those fantasy owners who spent an early pick on Austin's potential.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

Updating a previous report, St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said Monday, Dec. 9, that WR Tavon Austin (ankle) is considered day to day this week.

Huddle Up: Austin continues to rip off big plays -- his 56-yard run Sunday being the latest -- but his limited touches and targets still don't justify a starting assignment in most standard-size fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams WR Tavon Austin (ankle) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 12.

Huddle Up: Friday suddenly looms as a key day for the big-play rookie wideout who has missed two straight days of practice but has not missed a game this season.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said Sunday, Dec. 15, that the team hopes to have WR Tavon Austin (ankle) back for the Week 16 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Huddle Up: Monitor his status throughout the week, in case you are desperate for Week 16.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams WR Tavon Austin (ankle) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 20, and is questionable for Week 16.

Huddle Up: Your best move is to avoid the game-time-decision hassle go with another option as Austin missed the Week 15 win over the Saints and has a combined 7 receptions for 73 yards since Week 10.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams WR Tavon Austin (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Huddle Up: Austin has missed the last two games and is uncertain for Sunday's finale against Seattle. He's off the fantasy radar until next season.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams WR Tavon Austin has a much better understanding of the offense heading into 2014 than he did a year ago. 'I understand coverages better, I understand the plays, the depth of my routes, the splits and everything, so I'm way better off right now,' Austin said. 'I'm just glad to come out here and make some plays to keep on going.'

Huddle Up: The 8th overall pick in the 2013 draft started strong with 18 catches for 118 yards and 2 TDs in his first 3 games, but tallied only 22-300-4 over the remainder of the season. He did however, rack up 151 rushing yards and a TD on 9 rushes and has the play-making skills to pay off big time as a late-round pickup in drafts this summer.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer hinted the team will expand WR Tavon Austin's role this season. 'Moving him around to a lot of different spots,' Schottenheimer said. 'You'll see us hand him the ball, do some different things. He's playing so much faster just because he knows what we're doing. He has the system down cold.'

Huddle Up: That's the role many envisioned for Austin out of the gate, but it never materialized during his rookie season. With a year of NFL experience under his belt, Austin may now be ready for the larger, Percy Harvin-like multipurpose workload--and with it, of course, the accompanying jump in fantasy value.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams WR Tavon Austin (knee) sustained a knee injury during the team's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Austin will undergo more tests Monday, Sept. 15.

Huddle Up: More injury issues for the Rams, and another reason for the talented yet enigmatic Austin to fail to live up to his potential.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams WR Tavon Austin (knee) is dealing with a mild knee sprain but has a chance to play Week 3, according to head coach Jeff Fisher.

Huddle Up: The second-year wideout is off to a slow pass-catching start with only 4 targets, 3 catches and 34 yards through 2 games, and is going to have to get healthy and show something before he belongs on the fantasy radar.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams WR Tavon Austin will be more involved in the offense next season, according to offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti.

Huddle Up: Austin's total touches climbed from 49 to 67 in his second season while his receptions (40-31) and receiving yardage (418-242) took dips. In short, a lot more needs to be seen from 2013's eighth overall pick before he can be trusted in any sort of fantasy format.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams WR Tavon Austin caught three passes for 41 yards and a TD and added 32 yards and a TD on the ground Thursday, Dec. 17 in a 31-23 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Huddle Up: Austin had been quiet, tallying one TD over his previous six games after scoring six in his first seven outings, but he going on the first possession catching a 17-yard pass from Case Keenum and then scoring on a 21-yard reverse in the third quarter -- his fourth rushing score and ninth overall this season.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin is expected to have his fifth-year option exercised, but the team hopes to sign him to a long-term extension.

Huddle Up: Austin has yet to live up to his eighth-overall pick status, but did have his most productive season yet a year ago with 104 touches, 907 yards from scrimmage and nine TDs.
