Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin rushed three times for 27 yards in Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals in London while adding two receptions for 15 yards on his only two targets.

Huddle Up: Austin is an exciting play maker, but the Rams still cannot figure out how to make the most of his speed. He remains nothing more than a WR4 or flex play in most fantasy leagues after the upcoming bye.

  • Posted: 10/8/2017 8:56pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin rushed six times for 27 yards and a touchdown in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks and he added three catches for 14 yards.

Huddle Up: The Rams want to get the ball into the hands of the speedy Austin, and he is much more dangerous in the run game than he has been in the passing game so far in his career. His fantasy appeal is rather limited to deeper leagues heading into Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

  • Posted: 10/1/2017 5:28pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin rushed six times for 48 yards in Week 4 against the Dallas Cowboys while making just one catch for minus-2 yards on two targets.

Huddle Up: Austin is a speedster, and the Rams are trying to get the ball in his hands as much as possible. Unfortunately he does do much in the receiving game, and that's a problem for a wide receiver. As such his fantasy value is rather limited heading into Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin (concussion) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 29, and is not on the injury report for Week 4.

Huddle Up: Austin has passed his concussion tests and will be in uniform this week but has not been a big part of the passing game this season. Owners likely will be able to find better options for their lineups and can avoid Austin.

  • Posted: 9/28/2017 4:58pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin (concussion) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 28.

Huddle Up: Austin has not been much of a factor in the passing game season and probably will see limited targets again this week. Owners in all leagues should be able to find better options to use.

  • Posted: 9/27/2017 5:32pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin (concussion) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Huddle Up: Austin will need to pass his concussion tests before he is cleared to play, so owners should check on his status later in the week. Austin has only posted seven yards in three games and can be avoided in all leagues even if he is active.

  • Posted: 9/21/2017 11:15pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin (concussion) was placed in the concussion protocol during the fourth quarter of the team's Week 3 game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Huddle Up: It was another quiet night for Austin, who managed three carries for 14 yards (let's call it Austin 3:14, not nearly as cool as Austin 3:16) and was not targeted in the passing game. He'll have a few extra days to get cleared before Week 4, but with a combined 40 yards of offense through three weeks he's of no value to fantasy owners.

  • Posted: 9/17/2017 9:25pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin rushed twice for just three yards in Week 2 against the Redskins and he added only one catch for five yards on three targets.

Huddle Up: Austin has speed to burn, but the Rams just cannot seem to get him the ball enough to tap into his potential. He remains nothing more than a WR4/5 in deeper fantasy formats heading into Week 3 at San Francisco, and he'll need to do more just to remain at that level.

  • Posted: 9/10/2017 7:54pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin had one catch for seven yards and rushed twice for 11 yards in a 46-9 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1.

Huddle Up: Consistent production has always eluded Austin, and with Sammy Watkins, Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods all joining the receiving corps this year, that isn't like to change. He can be left on the waiver wire.

  • Posted: 8/27/2017 6:55pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin (hamstring) has made 'huge progress' and should be ready for the season opener, head coach Sean McVay said Sunday, Aug. 27.

Huddle Up: Austin has speed to burn and can impact the game in a variety of ways, but he has never been able to provide consistent production for the Rams or fantasy owners. Don't expect that to change this season, and he is no more than a late-round gamble.

  • Posted: 8/21/2017 5:16pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin (hamstring) is making progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury but is not expected to practice this week or play in the third preseason game.

Huddle Up: Austin has been sidelined for a little over a week because his injury and probably will not be back on the field until Week 1. He is expected to have a similar role this season than he had in 2016 but probably will lose some targets to Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods. He could be a late-round option in fantasy leagues but will not be a weekly starting option.

  • Posted: 8/17/2017 6:51am ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin (hamstring) will be used in a similar role as he has in the past, according to general manager Les Snead. 'We haven't figured out how much he evolves as a receiver in this offense because he hasn't had a chance to play,' Snead said. 'Plan to see him used very similarly to how he's been used in the past. By that I mean, he's scored as a receiver, he's scored as a running back, he's scored as a returner. That's why we like him. He threatens the opposing team in many different ways. We've just got to get him healthy.'

Huddle Up: Austin offered a glimmer of hope of justifying his No. 8 overall pick status in 2015 with a 52-473-5 receiving line and a 52-434-4 rushing line. He's a small receiver that you can do a lot of things with, but the previous regime couldn't make him enough of a factor. He has WR5 viability, but it's unlikely he'll be a consistent fantasy source.

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin (hamstring) will not participate in practice this week because of a hamstring injury. Head coach Sean McVay said the team is not sure if Austin will play in any preseason games.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see if Austin will be ready for the start of the regular season. He probably will be the No. 3 or No. 4 receiver for the Rams this season and may see fewer targets because of the addition of Sammy Watkins. He could be a No. 5 receiver in some leagues or a waiver wire option during the season.

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin (wrist) was a full participant in practice Saturday, July 29, and he lined up outside and ran deep routes on several plays.

Huddle Up: It sounds like Sean McVay is indeed going to have Austin fill a DeSean Jackson-like role in the offense. However, that still makes him a boom-or-bust WR4.

  • Posted: 5/5/2017 12:34pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin (wrist) will miss OTAs after undergoing surgery on his left wrist but is expected to be ready for training camp, according to ESPN's Alden Gonzalez.

Huddle Up: It's a setback for Austin - a player new head coach Sean McVay wants to use in the same way he did DeSean Jackson in Washington. Austin's absence should open up more reps for rookie Josh Reynolds, who is perhaps the team's best downfield threat anyway.

  • Posted: 5/5/2017 10:14am ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin is expected to establish himself as more of a downfield threat, similar to what DeSean Jackson for new head coach Sean McVay when he was the offensive coordinator for the Washington Redskins, according to ESPN's Alden Gonzalez.

Huddle Up: Austin has carried the ball 116 times (nearly three times more than any other receiver) and caught 75 passes behind the line of scrimmage (tied for second among receivers) over the last three years. Now, it appears McVay wants to see what the former first-round pick, who ran a 4.34 prior to getting drafted No. 8 overall in 2013, can do down the field. Expecting Austin to emulate Jackson may be too high of a standard to reach, but it does suggest McVay will use him more logically than Jeff Fisher ever did.

  • Posted: 4/29/2017 9:15pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin could move to the outside or be utilized more in the run game if WR Cooper Kupp is a better option as a slot receiver, according to beat writer Rich Hammond.

Huddle Up: The Rams have always struggled to find the best way to take advantage of Austin's game-changing speed, and the result has been an unreliable fantasy option dependent on breaking a long score. Austin is a WR4 who can be used as a Hail Mary flex play during bye weeks.

  • Posted: 12/24/2016 6:44pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Tavon Austin posted two grabs for 14 yards on seven targets in the Week 16 game against the San Francisco 49ers, and he added a 30-yard rushing score.

Huddle Up: Austin is a dynamic playmaker with speed to burn, but the Rams haven't been able to get him out into the open very much. If they can get better offensive line play and more stability at the quarterback position, Austin and Gurley would be the biggest beneficiaries going forward.
