Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe said he likes the offense that head coach Andy Reid has brought to the team. "Throwing the ball deep, that's something we haven't done in the past so I'm excited right now. The play calling is totally different from last year. It's not check downs or putting it in the running back's hands. This guy likes to go down the field, take the top off (the defense) and that's something we haven't done in the past, put up a lot of points. This season he said we're going to blow out the scoreboard and that's something I'm looking forward to," Bowe said.
Huddle Up: What wide receiver isn't going to like Andy Reid's throw early, throw often approach? The potential for more balls in the air has to boost Bowe's fantasy prospects as well.
Posted: 3/6/2013 4:09pm et
Kansas City Chiefs general manager John Dorsey said he believes WR Dwayne Bowe has the skills to be one of the top wide receivers in the NFL and that Bowe is looking for to the challenge of becoming one. "He's a receiver and receivers have unique personalities. But he's a very talented guy. We sat and talked. I told him it's his responsibility to uphold his end of the bargain. He said he understood the challenge ahead and he totally embraced that challenge," Dorsey said.
Huddle Up: Bowe has harped about wanting to be paid like an elite receiver, and now he is. He also has a new pass-friendly coach and offense and a new quarterback, so many of the things standing in the way of previous success have been removed. In other words, time to put up or shut up.
Posted: 3/4/2013 5:32pm et
The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms with WR Dwayne Bowe on a new five-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: Andy Reid has his go-to receiver and the free agent market thins a bit at the receiver position. Bowe should see an uptick in opportunities as KC transitions from their previous run-dominated offense to Reid's pass-happy approach.
Posted: 3/2/2013 11:31pm et
The Kansas City Chiefs likely will place the franchise tag on impending free-agent WR Dwayne Bowe if the two sides are not able to reach a long-term agreement by Monday, March 4.
Huddle Up: Sounds like Andy Reid wants to keep Bowe around to anchor Alex Smith's receiving corps. Hey, if he can coexist with T.O., working with Bowe should be a snap.
Posted: 2/28/2013 11:23pm et
The Kansas City Chiefs are working on a long-term deal with impending free-agent WR Dwayne Bowe but could place the franchise tag on him if a deal is not reached by Monday, March 4. Bowe would get a one-year, $11.4 million tender if he receives the franchise tag because it will be the second consecutive year to receive the tag and would get 20 percent raise. Bowe made $9.4 million this season.
Huddle Up: $11.4 mil sounds a little pricey for Bowe, but considering that the Chiefs' next-best returning receiver is the disappointing Jonathan Baldwin (20 catches for 325 yards & 1 TD in 2012), it's in K.C.'s best interests to keep Bowe around.
Posted: 2/21/2013 10:53pm et
Former Kansas City Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli said he believes the Chiefs will place the franchise tag on impending free-agent WR Dwayne Bowe and will look to replace impending free-agent OT Branden Albert either in free agency or the 2013 NFL Draft.
Huddle Up: This set of moves would make the most sense as K.C.'s WR cupboard would be absolutely barren if Bowe goes, while Texas A&M standout Luke Joeckel would be a solid, No. 1 overall pick if Albert leaves.
Posted: 2/14/2013 11:07pm et
The Kansas City Chiefs are actively working on a new contract for impending free-agent WR Dwayne Bowe and have met with his representatives. The two sides are expected to continue to talk over the next few weeks.
Huddle Up: The Chiefs have plenty of other questions to answer without letting Bowe go and leaving their WR cupboard completely bare. Look for a deal to get done.
Posted: 2/11/2013 12:56pm et
Kansas City Chiefs impending free-agent WR Dwayne Bowe will surely receive a lot of interest if he hits the open market; however, one league scout said he has reservations. "I am scared to death of Dwayne Bowe. Like him a lot, but not sure what we'd be buying if we signed him. Too much baggage," the scout said.
Huddle Up: It's no shock that wide receivers come with baggage; Chad Johnson, Terrell Owens, Randy Moss... there's a solid precedent here. The question is, how much will that baggage reduce Bowe's offseason price tag and will it limit his suitors?
Posted: 1/24/2013 1:26pm et
Kansas City Chiefs impending free-agent WR Dwayne Bowe, who will likely generate plenty of interest in the offseason, seems more likely to re-sign with the Chiefs now that there is a new regime.
Huddle Up: K.C. needs Bowe more than the other way around, and the Chiefs can start by getting a semi-decent QB in place.
Posted: 1/5/2013 10:17am et
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid could look to re-sign impending free-agent WR Dwayne Bowe in the offseason as Reid has not been afraid to pay for offensive players in the past.
Huddle Up: On the other hand, Reid spent much of his time in Philly cobbling together receiving corps so he may not want to back up the Brinks truck for Bowe. One look at what's left sans Brinks should convince him otherwise.
Posted: 12/19/2012 2:05pm et
The Kansas City Chiefs are unlikely to reach a long-term extension with impending free-agent WR Dwayne Bowe this offseason.
Huddle Up: Hopefully Bowe will get out of quarterback purgatory before he turns into Larry Fitzgerald, that poor soul who might spend his entire prime without a viable quarterback. His fantasy value should go up virtually anywhere he lands; the better the offensive situation, the more fantasy points he will score.
Posted: 12/15/2012 11:27pm et
The Kansas City Chiefs have placed WR Dwayne Bowe (ribs) on Injured Reserve. In a corresponding move, the team signed practice squad OL Rich Ranglin to their active roster. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: No shocker here as Bowe did suffer fractured ribs a week ago. Jonathan Baldwin, who has 18 catches for 265 yards and a TD, is now the No. 1 WR in K.C., but it's definitely a less-than-ideal situation given Baldwin's inconsistency and the Chiefs' continuing QB issues.
Posted: 12/12/2012 11:13pm et
Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe (ribs) is unavailable in Week 15, but head coach Romeo Crennel wouldn't confirm Bowe is done for the season. 'I'm going to wait a couple more days and they're going to give me some definitive results on some of the tests they're running,' Crennel said Wednesday, Dec. 12. 'If I determine that he can't play, then we'll put him on (Injured Reserve).'
Huddle Up: For all fantasy intents and purposes, the Chiefs' top pass-catcher is done for the season, and owners should already have lined up other options.
Posted: 12/11/2012 10:37am et
Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe has been ruled out for the rest of the season, as a league source said Bowe will be placed on season-ending Injured Reserve after suffering two broken ribs in the Week 14 loss against the Cleveland Browns.
Huddle Up: Enjoy Jonathan Baldwin and Terrance Copper. Here's hoping those ribs won't limit Bowe as he's packing up his locker; as an unrestricted free agent, he has in all likelihood played his last game as a Chief.
Posted: 12/10/2012 5:20pm et
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel said WR Dwayne Bowe (ribs) will miss Week 15 because of a rib injury and could miss the rest of the season.
Huddle Up: Bowe has basically been bench material for weeks previous to this injury, now he isn't an option at all.
Posted: 12/10/2012 10:10am et
The Kansas City Chiefs are worried WR Dwayne Bowe might have suffered a pair of broken ribs in the Week 14 loss against the Cleveland Browns. He went to the locker room after the first quarter, and was later ruled out for the game. He finished with two receptions and 70 yards.
Huddle Up: On the bright side the Chiefs can test-drive what their offense will look like next year without Bowe, who's an unrestricted free agent. So if you're interested in what things might look like for Jonathan Baldwin next year, get your popcorn.
Posted: 12/9/2012 4:02pm et
Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe left late in the first quarter of Sunday's Week 14 game in Cleveland because of a rib injury and will not return.
Huddle Up: There are fears that Bowe suffered broken ribs. The wideout still led K.C. with 70 yards on 2 receptions before the injury, but those could turn out to be his final catches of the season.
Posted: 11/23/2012 12:43pm et
Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe (neck, back) and WR Jonathan Baldwin (head, neck) are expected to play this weekend.
Huddle Up: Good news for Bowe owners, though we are not sure how good. He will be dinged up heading into the game, and his quarterback is Brady Quinn.
Posted: 11/21/2012 7:06pm et
Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe (neck, back) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 21.
Huddle Up: Bowe was forced from K.C.'s Week 11 game with a neck injury, and finished with a stat sheet full of goose eggs. The Chiefs are one of the league's more shrouded teams when it comes to releasing injury information, so it's hard to judge the true extent of the wideout's injury. However, given the ailment, the Chiefs' QB situation and a tough Week 12 matchup against the Broncos, it's tough to project Bowe doing much of anything this weekend even if he plays.
Posted: 11/18/2012 5:29pm et
Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe suffered a neck injury Sunday in the third quarter of Week 11's game and did not return.
Huddle Up: It was a lost game all around for Bowe who failed to record a catch on a pair of targets before the injury. Bowe's practice status throughout the week obviously will need to be monitored.
Posted: 11/16/2012 6:25pm et
Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe (thigh) fully participated in
practice Friday, Nov. 16, and is probable for Week 11.
Huddle Up: Bowe is the Chiefs' unquestioned No. 1 pass catcher, leading the
squad in targets (91) and receptions (49) but is looking for his
first TD grab since Week 4.
Posted: 11/14/2012 7:00pm et
Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe (thigh) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 14.
Huddle Up: Bowe took a helmet to the thigh late in Monday night's contest against the Steelers -- on the same play that Steelers' safety Ryan Clark suffered a concussion -- and will likely be dealing with soreness throughout the week. While he should be good to go in Week 11, bear in mind that Bowe still hasn't had more than 79 receiving yards or caught a TD pass in a game since Week 4.
Posted: 11/13/2012 12:23am et
Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe had four receptions for 55 yards in Week 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers Monday, Nov. 12. Most of his damage came in the fourth quarter, when he left brfiefly after taking a helmet to the thigh, but he came back to make a key fourth-down reception to set up K.C.'s game-tying FG in regulation.
Huddle Up: Bowe's night could've been a whole lot better, but he had an earlier TD reception nullified by a questionable holding call. Bowe now hasn't found the end zone since Week 5 -- a run of five-straight TD-less games. He's stuck on 3 scoring receptions for the season.
Posted: 11/2/2012 12:20am et
Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe led the team with 8 receptions for 79 yards
Thursday night in a 31-14 loss to the San Diego Chargers.
Huddle Up: Bowe did his damage on 10 targets, but also fumbled the ball and failed to score
for the fourth-straight game. He's better with Matt Cassel at QB -- as opposed to
Brady Quinn -- but he's also limited by Cassel's and the Chiefs' continued
struggles.
Posted: 10/30/2012 7:51pm et
There is virtually no chance Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe will get traded before the deadline Thursday, Nov. 1. The cost for Bowe is expected to be at least a third-round draft pick, and a team would have to pay him the $5 million left on his deal with no guarantees he will re-sign after the season.
Huddle Up: Bowe has managed to be productive in K.C. despite the team's poor QB play over the past season and a half. It would be very interesting to see what Bowe would do with a better QB throwing him the ball, but it looks like its going to be more Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn for now.
Posted: 10/29/2012 1:49pm et
The Kansas City Chiefs will almost certainly ask for a third-round pick in exchange for WR Dwayne Bowe at this year's trade deadline.
Huddle Up: With the Chiefs quarterback situation as it is, Bowe owners might welcome a trade.
Posted: 10/27/2012 4:31pm et
The Kansas City Chiefs likely will not trade WR Dwayne Bowe before the trade deadline even though he likely will leave as a free agent this offseason.
Huddle Up: If Brady Quinn remains the Chiefs starting QB, Bowe's value is somewhat in peril with the dink and dunk style we have come to associate with Quinn.
Posted: 10/18/2012 12:01pm et
Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe reportedly wants to be traded very badly. The Miami Dolphins are reportedly interested in trading for Bowe. The team would like to add a No. 1 wide receiver and have plenty of draft picks available for a potential trade.
Huddle Up: Bowe is playing under the one-year franchise tag, and there were initially hopes that he would sign a long-term deal to remain in Kansas City. Now it's looking as if he'll hit the open market, and the Dolphins--with plenty of draft picks and a glaring need for a wide receiver--are one obvious target. Nothing wrong with a little intrigue leading up to the NFL trade deadline.
Posted: 9/29/2012 11:39pm et
Despite being listed as questionable, Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe (groin) is expected to play in the Week 4 game against the San Diego Chargers.
Huddle Up: Feel free to roll with Bowe in your starting lineup as the wideout unquestionably remains K.C.'s top passing-game target with 18 receptions for 234 yards and 2 TDs so far.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe (groin) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 4.
Huddle Up: The Chiefs need Bowe in a bad way despite the re-emergence of Jamaal Charles. Hopefully Bowe will be a go this Sunday, but keep an eye on his groin. Not literally.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe will play in the team's preseason game Friday, Aug. 24.
Huddle Up: This has little fantasy relevance except that his owners need to pray he does not suffer an injury after a layoff. Bowe's chemistry with Matt Cassel has been pretty good over the past two seasons, so it should not be a major concern that he will not be getting a ton of playing time this preseason.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel the biggest challenge for WR Dwayne Bowe will be learning the new offense without the benefit of training camp. 'He's a whole training camp behind,' Crennel said. 'There's a lot. New offense, new terminology -- there's lots of stuff that he has to learn.' Bowe was able to pass his physical and conditioning test when he reported and has been working with strength coaches since signing tender.
Huddle Up: Was his early-camp holdout really worth it? You be the judge. It could take Bowe a good month or so into the regular season to catch up, so be sure to factor that into your fantasy WR rankings.

Kansas City Chiefs franchise free-agent WR Dwayne Bowe has signed his one-year tender and will join the team soon. He is scheduled to make around $9.5 million this season.
Huddle Up: He comes to camp a bit late, but Matt Cassel finally gets his main target back. Bowe averaged 80 yards and 0.5 touchdowns per game with Cassel at the helm last season. Anything at or above that pace should put him in fringe WR1 territory.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe, who is the last unsigned franchise player, plans to show before the regular season begins, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
Huddle Up: Good that he'll show up, but at least a little preseason work would be nice. Meanwhile, Jon Baldwin has looked good in camp and could wind up replacing Bowe as the Chiefs' go-to receiver.

The Kansas City Chiefs have not made much progress in contract talks with franchise free-agent WR Dwayne Bowe and do not appear to be in a hurry to sign him to a long-term contract.
Huddle Up: Both sides have seemed agreeable to a long-term deal, but Bowe seems okay to operate under the franchise tag so it's possible a deal doesn't get done until after the season.

Kansas City Chiefs franchise free-agent WR Dwayne Bowe is unlikely to sign a contract extension prior to the July 16 deadline.
Huddle Up: The Chiefs have been interested in inking Bowe long-term, just not at the elite-WR money Bowe has been asking for. Perhaps the looming deadline will rekindle negotiations, or Bowe could play for $9.5 million guaranteed this season under the franchise tag.

The Kansas City Chiefs opened their mandatory three-day minicamp Tuesday, June 12, without franchise free-agent WR Dwayne Bowe, who has not yet signed his tender. Bowe will be playing catch-up when he arrives and has to learn the new offense being installed by offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.
Huddle Up: Lost amidst the Mike Wallace holdout drama is the fact that Bowe is just as unhappy. Though not as dynamic as Wallace, Bowe is still his team's most consistent offensive weapon and has been for years. Chiefs GM Scott Pioli denies that Bowe could be traded but don't rule out the possibility. Bowe has a questionable reputation in the locker room and there are several teams with tons of cap room who might dump a first-round pick: Seattle, Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Jacksonville to name a few...
