Brett Martel, of The Associated Press, reports New Orleans Saints WR Robert Meachem has been working with the first-team offense in training camp. Meachem is also gaining confidence as he enters his third season. Meachem said, "This year they're going to get to see a first-round draft pick. The last two years, that's been somebody else." Wide receivers coach Curtis Johnson said, "I'm seeing him run now. Before, he was measuring his steps and thinking too much. Now he's starting to play and react and - wow - he's looking pretty good."
The Huddle Take: Meachem has teased but mostly disappointed since the Saints took him in the first round in 2007. But there is obvious upside in the pass-happy New Orleans offense for a receiver with the talent to be a first-round pick.

NFL.com reports New Orleans Saints WR Robert Meachem is finally showing signs of playing to his potential. Head coach Sean Payton said Meachem is in shape and finally familiar with the team's offensive scheme.
The Huddle Take: Meachem has been a bundle of potential his entire short career, but has yet to come close to fulfilling the expectations. However, there is room on this team for someone to step up as a solid second receiver, and he'll have that chance. Don't spend much for him though until he proves he's worth it.
