St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said Tuesday, Sept. 10, he wants to see more from RB Zac Stacy. He saw just one carry in the team's opening week win against the Arizona Cardinals.

Huddle Up: With the return of Isaiah Pead from suspension Stacy is now third on the Rams' depth chart. Daryl Richardson looked good as the starter, so it may be difficult for Fisher to find spots for Stacy to get more looks. Right now he's little more than deep fantasy insurance.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said the team will probably go with a committee approach at running back in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and RB Zac Stacy could receive his chance after RBs Daryl Richardson, Isaiah Pead and Benny Cunningham haven't been very productive. 'I think Zac's done a really good job since he's been here,' QB Sam Bradford said. 'He's a very talented runner. He's a powerful guy. He's got great vision. He makes cuts in the hole that are quick and decisive, so I'm excited to see him out there.' Stacy has only one carry for four yards on the season against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1. He was inactive in Weeks 2 and 3. The rest of the team's running backs haven't been good in pass protection through four weeks, and although he hasn't proven himself in the NFL yet, Stacy had a reputation as a good pass blocker coming out of college.

Huddle Up: Stacy, the Rams' 5th-round pick, had 1 carry for 4 yards in the opener, but the Rams might as well see what they have in the rookie from Vanderbilt. That said, fantasy owners aren't going to find any value whatsoever in a jumbled RBBC on a struggling team.

St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said RB Zac Stacy will start at running back Week 6. Fisher said Stacy earned another start with his play Week 5.

Huddle Up: It seems the Rams backfield situation is clearing up a bit. It's too soon to tell whether Stacy will stick long term, but get him on your roster if he's available.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (chest) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 9. Stacy missed the end of the Week 5 game with what the team was calling a rib injury, but Stacy said he felt like he had the wind knocked out of him and that he'd be fine for Week 6. 'He took the day off,' head coach Jeff Fisher said. 'He's a little sore after that outing, but he'll be fine.'

Huddle Up: Interesting given he was named the starter earlier this week, but it seems that Stacy will be fine. Keep an eye on the injury through the rest of the week.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy carried 26 times for a career-high 134 yards Monday, Oct. 28 in a 14-9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Huddle Up: The rookie continues his impressive surge, topping the century mark for the first time and doing it against one of the league's most heralded defenses. Stacy ran hard and hit the holes with authority -- particularly between the tackles -- but did leave the game a couple times after getting banged up. In a league where dependable fantasy RB talent has been hard to come by, Stacy is quickly establishing himself as a must-start RB.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

Updating a previous report, St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy sprained his ankle in the team's Week 8 game Monday, Oct. 28, and he was not on the field for the club's final drive of the night. Stacy went back on the field for the final play of the game and was split out wide instead of being used in the backfield. It was reported Tuesday that the injury is not a high-ankle sprain.

Huddle Up: Stacy was masterful in notching his first 100-yard game, but perhaps all the work (26 rushes, 1 reception) started to take its toll with the late-game ankle injury. See what Stacy can do in practice on a short week.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (foot) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Huddle Up: Stacy is dealing with an ankle injury that he suffered last Monday against the Seahawks. Stacy has been playing well but if he can't go on Sunday, Daryl Richardson would get the start against Tennessee. Richardson would be worth a flex start considering he'll likely see 20 touches with Kellen Clemens at quarterback.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 1, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

Huddle Up: Stacy's participation ran the gamut this week -- one missed practice, one full practice and one limited workout -- but he's worth a start if he's healthy enough to play given his recent productiveness.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (foot) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Huddle Up: It's likely just a rest day for Stacy after he racked up 178 total yards on 33 touches against Tennessee on Sunday. He has a tough match-up versus Indianapolis but Stacy is still locked in as a RB2 this week.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (concussion) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 27.

Huddle Up: Stacy is dealing with a concussion but he's hoping to get cleared before Sunday. If he can't play Benny Cunningham will get the start against San Francisco. Cunningham has been impressive the last two weeks backing up Stacy and would be a solid flex play even versus a tough 49ers' defense if Stacy is forced to sit out.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (concussion) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 28.

Huddle Up: Stacy was at least able to get in some work on Thanksgiving after sitting out Wednesday, but will still have a clear the final protocol hurdles in able to play this coming weekend. Chances are you're starting him if he's healthy so monitor his progress.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (concussion) practiced in full Friday, Nov. 29, and is listed as probable for Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers. He passed the final hurdle for his concussion tests Friday and has been cleared to play this Sunday.

Huddle Up: Welcome news for Stacy and his fantasy owners after the impressive rookie RB was injured in the Week 12 win over the Bears.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (hip) suffered a hip injury on the first drive in Week 15 against the New Orleans Saints. 'I just took a shot ... (the doctors and trainers) fixed it up for me and I went back out there,' he said. 'I'm a competitor. I want to get back on the field as much as I can to help this team and this organization be successful.'

Huddle Up: He did just fine after returning. He is worth monitoring this week, but we expect he will be just fine this week.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher hinted that RB Zac Stacy could be the team's lead back. 'I think over time, he'll probably be that 70-percent of the carries guy,' Fisher said.

Huddle Up: Odd statement as it will be a shocker if Stacy ISN'T the Rams' No. 1 option in 2014 after easily pacing the team with 973 rushing yards, 1,114 yards from scrimmage and 8 TDs this past year as a rookie.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Ram RB Tre Mason has received some snaps with the first- team, but RB Zac Stacy is receiving a majority of the first-string work.

Huddle Up: The Rams certainly have high hopes for the third-round pick, but Stacy was a rookie revelation last season and it would be no shock to see him get 70 percent of the Rams' RB touches this season.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams general manager Les Snead said he expects the team to ride the 'hot hand' any given week at running back, according to a source. As a result, RB Benny Cunningham could cut into RB Zac Stacy's workload immediately in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings. Stacy had 250 carries in just 12 starts last year and was among the league leaders in carries per game. Cunningham had just 47 carries last year, but he impressed the team in training camp and the preseason.

Huddle Up: Stacy logged a healthy 67 percent of the Rams' RB carries in 2013, but that's not looking like it'll be the case this year. If you remember, Cunningham actually got the start in the Rams' third preseason game, so Stacy owners should be tempering their expectations accordingly.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (calf) suffered a calf injury in the Week 5 game against the Philadelphia Eagles, head coach Jeff Fisher said Sunday, Oct. 5. Fisher said Stacy was not pulled from the game due to a fumble that led to a Philadelphia touchdown.

Huddle Up: Even if Stacy doesn't miss any time there's a good chance he could start losing carries to Benny Cunningham. Stacy is no more than a flex play at this point.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (calf) suffered a strained calf in Week 5 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Huddle Up: Stacy is expected to play in Week 6 against San Fran. He'll likely start with Benny Cunningham mixing in for 5-7 carries.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (calf) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 9, but will still have a chance to play in the team's Week 6 game, according to head coach Jeff Fisher.

Huddle Up: Since the Rams don't play until Monday night, it was the team's first practice of the week so don't get too concerned unless he hasn't taken the field by Saturday.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (calf) is probable for Week 6 Monday, Oct. 13.

Huddle Up: Stacy will start but could lose some touches to Benny Cunningham this week. Stacy is a low-end RB2/flex play in a tough matchup against the 49ers.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (calf) and WR Kenny Britt (knee) are both active for the team's Week 6 game against the San Francisco 49ers Monday, Oct. 13.

Huddle Up: Coming off his worst rushing effort of the season (11-42) due to the calf issue last week in Philly, the Rams' leading rusher will be active tonight for a tough matchup against the Niners, who are allowing only 73.8 rushing yard per game.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RBs Zac Stacy, Benny Cunningham and Tre Mason may continue to head a three-man rotation in the backfield, according to head coach Jeff Fisher.

Huddle Up: Translation: Not good news at all for fantasy GMs, especially Stacy owners. In Monday night's loss to the Niners, Stacy got 10 touches, Cunningham received 9 and Mason had 6, but the latter gained the most total yards out of the trio with 52, while Cunningham had a rushing TD. It might be best to steer clear until there's some clarity.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (calf) had no injury issues in Week 6 when the team decided to use a three-man rotation at running back, according to head coach Jeff Fisher.

Huddle Up: A three-man committee spells trouble for Stacy's fantasy value. Then again, Stacy hasn't played well enough to remain the lone feature back. To wit, in the Week 6 loss to San Francisco he had the most attempts of the three Rams backs yet rushed for the fewest yards.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy may have his workload cut after offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer confirmed the team will use the running back with the hot hand late in the game. 'Early in the game, we try to get guys multiple touches (and) then we try to go with the hot hand late in the game,' Schottenheimer said. 'Most places that I've been that have really good running games, they had the people to spread the ball around. Different backs bring different types of plays.'

Huddle Up: Stacy, Benny Cunningham and Tre Mason will all be in line for carries in the coming weeks. It's a fantasy mess that is best left alone for the time being if possible. Mason has the highest ceiling of the threesome.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy, who didn't have a touch in Week 7, could remain a factor in the backfield in Week 8 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Earlier in the week, head coach Jeff Fisher said Stacy could have 25 carries Sunday, Oct. 26. However, the team is likely to give RB Tre Mason every opportunity to develop the hot hand this weekend.

Huddle Up: Sure, you don't figure on Stacy drawing a total blank every week, but the No. 1 gig fully appears to be Mason's job to lose at this point. Benny Cunningham, who has scored in each of the last 3 games and leads the team's backs in receptions with 16, will also continue to be involved as well.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RBs Tre Mason and Benny Cunningham each were on the field for 18 snaps in Week 8. RB Zac Stacy received 15 snaps during the game.

Huddle Up: Mason and Stacy had 8 touches apiece in the game, while Cunningham had 5 but none of the three scored or gained more than Stacy's 37 total yards. All three backs should continue to be involved and it'll be a roll of the dice trying to figure out which will score and attain fantasy relevancy in any given week.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy is playing special teams in Week 10 against the Arizona Cardinals, serving as the upback for RB Benny Cunningham on the kickoff team.

Huddle Up: In case you haven't been paying close attention to the St. Louis backfield, Stacy has completely fallen out of the RB rotation with nary a touch in the last 2 games. Rookie Tre Mason has compiled 38 touches as the starter during that span, while Cunningham (13 touches) has settled in as the change-of-pace back.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy has asked the team for a trade or to be released after the team selected RB Todd Gurley in the first round of the NFL Draft, according to a source.

Huddle Up: After a strong rookie season (1,114 yards, 8 TDs) in 2013, Stacy lost his starting spot and his fantasy relevance to Tre Mason last season, and now another SEC back -- this one the 10th overall pick in the draft -- is set to take his place atop the Rams' backfield pecking order. Clearly, Stacy's best chance for touches isn't going to be in St. Louis.

  • Posted: 5/20/2016 11:23am ET

Former St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy has been traded to the New York Jets in exchange for the Jets' 224 overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Huddle Up: Stacy went from Rams starter to Tre Mason's backup to asking for a trade after St. Louis spent the 10th overall pick on Todd Gurley. He'll join an equally crowded backfield in New York, where he'll need to carve out carries to regain any fantasy relevance.

  • Posted: 11/13/2015 3:26pm ET

New York Jets RB Zac Stacy had surgery Friday, Nov. 13, to repair a broken ankle, and he will miss the rest of the season. Stacy suffered the fracture returning a kickoff late in the first half of the Jets' loss to the Bills on Thursday, Nov. 12.

Huddle Up: Just in case you've been rostering Stacy in a deep league or as a possible Chris Ivory handcuff.

  • Posted: 11/13/2015 10:31am ET

Updating a previous report, New York Jets RB Zac Stacy (ankle) suffered a broken left ankle Thursday, Nov. 12, in Week 10.

Huddle Up: Stacy had been backing up Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell, with minimal fantasy value. Stevan Ridley moves up in the Jets' backfield rotation.

  • Posted: 11/13/2015 12:09am ET

New York Jets RB Zac Stacy suffered an ankle injury late in the first half of Thursday night's game against the Buffalo Bills and missed the remainder of the Week 10 contest.

Huddle Up: Stacy, one of three N.Y. RBs active with Bilal Powell out again, was hurt returning a kickoff on what proved to be his only touch of the game. At least, though, he'll now have an extra few days to recover with the Jets' next game not until Nov. 22.
