Buffalo Bills TE Scott Chandler is scheduled to undergo surgery Thursday, Jan. 10, to repair his torn anterior cruciate ligament. He said he will try to come back as soon as he can but understands he will have to work hard during his rehab.
Huddle Up: Chandler was a sneaky fantasy producer this season, extending his usual September scoring spree into the rest of the regular season. However, he'll return to a new coach and a new offense so his role going forward has yet to be determined--and since he's a mere mortal it's no lock he'll be ready for training camp.

The Buffalo Bills have placed TE Scott Chandler on Injured Reserve.
Huddle Up: Chandler suffered a knee injury in Week 16 that will prematurely end his season.

Buffalo Bills' TE Scott Chandler left in the first quarter of Sunday's Week 16 game
with an ankle injury and did not return.
Huddle Up: Chandler, the Bills' second-leading receiver, had 1 catch for 25 yards prior to the
injury, and you'll have to monitor the situation to determine its severity.

Buffalo Bills TE Scott Chandler (groin) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.
Huddle Up: In case you were depending on Chandler in lieu of, say, Rob Gronkowski, this is a situation to monitor. Check on Chandler later in the week.

Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey said WR Donald Jones (head) and TE Scott Chandler (head) should be able to play Week 5 after suffering head injuries in Week 4.
Huddle Up: Good news for the Bills and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, who hooked up with the duo a combined 6 times for 152 yards and 3 TDs in Week 4.

Buffalo Bills tight ends coach Pete Metzelaars said TE Scott Chandler is not a great blocker but is solid enough to be a starter in the league. Metzelaars said he has been working with Chandler on his blocking skills. "I think he's a solid blocker," Metzelaars said. "He's not a great blocker. He's not a real powerful guy, but he's a big body. He'll put his face in there. He does some things that are different than I've taught and that I like to see, so I'm trying to get him to buy into my stuff a little more. And I'm trying to learn from him what he's had success with in the past. He's willing, he's able and he moves his feet and can play with leverage. If you do that, you can get it done."
Huddle Up: The Bills have blocking tight end Lee Smith, but they don't want to be so predictable so they need Chandler to block better and Smith to be more of a threat in the passing game. Chandler is clearly the better fantasy option, and if he's able to upgrade his blocking to a respectable level it means that much more playing time--and opportunity--for him.
