The South Florida SunSentinel reports Miami Dolphins QB Tyler Thigpen could be used in the wildcat formation because of his mobility and improvisation skills.

The Huddle Take: First, Thigpen isn't likely to be the starter in Miami this season at all, barring injuries. He will however be used on occasion in situations when the team is up to their now well known trickery. His fantasy value is minimal at best.

ESPNews reports the Kansas City Chiefs have traded QB Tyler Thigpen to the Miami Dolphins for an undisclosed draft pick.

The Huddle Take: While conventional wisdom says Chad Henne will be the starter moving forward, don't be surprised if Thigpen makes a push for the No. 1 slot sometime this season. He has more starting experience than Henne, and could probably fill in nicely should Henne falter.

Kansas City Chiefs backup QB Tyler Thigpen was 8-of-15 for 56 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions Saturday, Aug. 29, after replacing injured QB Matt Cassel (knee) in the lineup.

The Huddle Take: Thigpen who performed extremely well last season will likely step up at least for the short term to take over for Cassell who is being evaluated further because of his injury. With Kansas City looking to throw the ball more than ever this season, fantasy owners could be in for a pleasant surprise from whichever quarterback takes the controls of this offense.

Vito Stellino, of The Florida Times-Union, reports the Jacksonville Jaguars offered the Kansas City Chiefs a fifth-round pick in exchange for QB Tyler Thigpen, according to the NFL Network. However, the Chiefs were looking to acquire a higher pick.

The Huddle Take: Thigpen is blocked by Matt Cassel in Kansas City, but despite getting a big contract just a couple years ago David Garrard is no longer a lock as Jacksonville's quarterback of the future. Of course, if they're not willing to part with anything higher than a fifth-rounder the Jags are looking at Thigpen as more competition and insurance than a full-fledged replacement.

The Associated Press reports Kansas City Chiefs QB Tyler Thigpen 20-for-41 for 320 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in the team's Week 16 game.

The Huddle Take: What is there to say about Tyler Thigpen except WOW. With Brodie Croyle and Damon Huard both out for much of the season, Thigpen has been solid in leading the Chiefs and is the odds on favorite to hold the starter's job heading into 2009. If you are in a dynasty or keeper league, Thigpen is worth stashing on your roster for next year.

The Kansas City Star reports Kansas City Chiefs QB Tyler Thigpen would help his case for starting in 2009 with wins in the team's final three games. Thigpen has already helped the Chiefs offense move the ball and score points while cutting down on their turnovers. However, the team is just 1-7 with Thigpen as the starter.

The Huddle Take: It's sort of stating the obvious to say Thigpen needs to win to increase his chances at starting next season, but it is a little food for thought for those considering starting him this week against the San Diego pass defense. His team may be out of the playoffs, but Thigpen has plenty of incentive to post big numbers.

ESPN.com reports Kansas City Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez put his support behind QB Tyler Thigpen by saying he believes Thigpen should quarterback the team next season. "It would be a disgrace if they don't," Gonzalez said. "We've been playing well since he came in." Gonzalez added the team should target other areas rather than the quarterback position this offseason. "You already got your quarterback," Gonzalez said. "You get something else to help us."

The Huddle Take: That's certainly not a bad endorsement for Thigpen to have, though it would carry more weight if Gonzo hadn't lobbied openly to be traded earlier this season. The Chiefs certainly have other needs to address; not having to take a quarterback frees up KC to focus on those needs.

The Associated Press reports Kansas City Chiefs QB Tyler Thigpen went 17-for-31 for 240 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in the team's Week 12 game.

The Huddle Take: Tyler Thigpen turned in another solid performance in Week 12 against the Bills despite losing the game 54-31. Thigpen has quickly emerged as a solid No. 2 quarterback for fantasy teams this season and has the upside to be a No. 1 if he can produce like this consistenty. With Kansas City having a soft schedule for the rest of the year, Thigpen could play a key part for fantasy owners as the playoffs loom near.
