Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins managed only two catches for 18 yards on four targets in Week 6 versus the New England Patriots. He also lost a yard on his only rushing attempt.

Huddle Up: Watkins had managed at least 78 yards or a touchdown in his last three games, so this was a disappointment for his fantasy owners. He didn't make his first catch until late in the third quarter and obviously did not appear to be a big part of the game plan at any point. Nevertheless, expect him to bounce back and deliver WR3 production against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 7.

  • Posted: 10/11/2018 3:10pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 11.

Huddle Up: Watkins is coming off a solid Week 5 performance against one of the best defenses in the NFL and has been targeted at least seven times in three of the last four games. He can be considered a solid No. 3 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 10/10/2018 2:41pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs Sammy Watkins (hamstring) put in a full practice Wednesday, Oct. 10.

Huddle Up: There are expected to be and supposed to be a massive amount of points in this contest between the Chiefs and New England Patriots. As such, you can do worse than to start Watkins as a WR3 or flex as he comes off a six-catch, 78-yard performance.

  • Posted: 10/7/2018 7:20pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins was good for six receptions for 78 yards on eight targets in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Huddle Up: The good news is Watkins made it through the game without any setbacks from the hamstring ailment he suffered on Monday night in Denver. It appears safe to plug him back into the fantasy lineup for the Week 6 road game against the Patriots.

  • Posted: 10/7/2018 9:20am ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) is officially active for the Week 5 game.

Huddle Up: Watkins will be facing a tough Jacksonville Jaguars defense this week, which makes him a risky option for owners. He could be a flex option in some leagues but can also be benched if owners have better options.

  • Posted: 10/7/2018 6:14am ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) is expected to play in Week 5's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, assuming that he doesn't experience any setbacks during pregame warmups.

Huddle Up: Watkins was listed as questionable on the injury report and was a limited practice participant throughout the week. Despite the difficulty of the matchup, Watkins should be viewed as a decent WR3 or flex option this week due to the success of the Kansas City passing offense, assuming he is active.

  • Posted: 10/5/2018 1:11pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 5, and is listed as questionable for Week 5.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to check the inactive list to see if Watkins will be able to play this week. He is part of one of the best passing offenses in the NFL and can be a No. 3 fantasy receiver if he plays even though he would be facing a tough opponent.

  • Posted: 10/4/2018 3:45pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 4.

Huddle Up: Watkins appears to have a decent chance to play in Week 5, but owners will know more about his status in the next few days. He would be facing a tough Jacksonville Jaguars secondary if he plays and could be benched if owners have better options.

  • Posted: 10/3/2018 3:07pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 3.

Huddle Up: Watkins left Monday's game in Denver due to a hamstring injury, and it's uncertain if he'll be ready for Week 5. If not, it would be Chris Conley, Demarcus Robinson and De'Anthony Thomas likely stepping up and absorbing a couple more targets in his stead. We'll have a clearer picture of the status for Watkins by Friday.

  • Posted: 10/1/2018 7:40pm ET

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) was unable to return to the Week 4 game against the Denver Broncos due to a hamstring injury suffered in the first half.

Huddle Up: Watkins went without any offensive statistics while being targeted just once before checking out of the game for good. Chris Conley, Demarcus Robinson and De'Anthony Thomas stepped up trying to fill the void.

  • Posted: 10/1/2018 6:11pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (hamstring) left the Week 4 game against the Denver Broncos in the first half on Monday, Oct. 1 due to a hamstring injury and he was taken to the locker room for further evaluation.

Huddle Up: If Watkins is forced to miss the rest of the game it would likely mean Chris Conley, Demarcus Robinson and perhaps De'Anthony Thomas will see more targets and snaps.

  • Posted: 9/23/2018 3:46pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins posted five grabs for 55 yards and a touchdown on eight targets in Week 3 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Huddle Up: Watkins is the tertiary receiving option in Kansas City behind Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, but the speedy veteran flashed in this one. He remains a productive WR4 or flex fantasy play heading into Week 4 against the Denver Broncos on Monday night.

  • Posted: 9/16/2018 3:30pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins posted six receptions for 100 yards on seven targets in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Huddle Up: Watkins jelled nicely with Patrick Mahomes in this one, leading all wideouts in targets and yardage in this one. Treat Watkins as a WR4 or flex fantasy option in most leagues heading into Week 3 against the 49ers.

  • Posted: 9/9/2018 7:32pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins managed just three grabs for 21 yards on five targets in his team debut in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Huddle Up: Watkins has the speed to do so much more, but this one was the Tyreek Hill show and everyone else in the wide receiver corps took a backseat. The former Clemson Tigers standout has never reached fantasy superstar status, but he has the speed to be a relevant WR4 if he can just stay on the field.

  • Posted: 8/23/2018 11:11am ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins is building a strong relationship with QB Patrick Mahomes, according to offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. Bieniemy said the pair's communication and rhythm is starting to sync and that Watkins is progressing.

Huddle Up: Watkins' rapport with Mahomes hasn't shown in the preseason yet. Watkins will likely be the No. 3 target in Kansas City's offense this year behind Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. That being said, he's a low-end WR2 to high-end WR3 candidate, but taking him as a WR3 is more advisable.

  • Posted: 8/6/2018 10:11am ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (hip) left practice early Monday, Aug. 6, because of a hip injury.

Huddle Up: The severity of Watkins' injury is not known at this point, so owners should monitor the situation over the next few days. He has dealt with injuries in the past but is a solid fantasy option when healthy. Watkins is expected to be one of the top options in the Chiefs passing game and can be a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy receiver.

  • Posted: 7/27/2018 8:29pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins was praised for his work ethic by head coach Andy Reid, and QB Patrick Mahomes said it has been easy to develop chemistry with Watkins.

Huddle Up: Watkins hasn't lived up to his potential, but his big-play ability and Mahomes' huge arm are an intriguing combination. Watkins offers a ton of upside as a WR3.

  • Posted: 6/26/2018 11:45pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins has been learning all of the team's receiver positions during the offseason, which will allow him to line up all over the field. Watkins says head coach Andy Reid has been helping him become a better player by making him learn the entire route tree.

Huddle Up: It's tempting to think Watkins might finally deliver on his full potential, but barring injury he is, at best, the No. 3 option in passing game behind Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. While his apparent development in KC is encouraging, Watkins shouldn't be selected as more than a WR3.

  • Posted: 6/14/2018 10:16am ET

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and WR Sammy Watkins already appear to have a good rapport. Their connection has been a 'consistent sight' throughout the offseason program. WR Chris Conley said Watkins has been picking up the offense quickly and CB Steve Nelson added that Watkins has been putting in more time to work out.

Huddle Up: Drafting Watkins to your fantasy squad is a tempting but difficult affair. He did score a career-high eight times last season, but only caught 39 passes for 593 yards. The upside is apparent and Watkins has the ability to achieve WR2 numbers, but it would behoove fantasy gamers to select him as a WR3.

  • Posted: 5/25/2018 9:04pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins made multiple one-handed catches during OTAs Thursday, May 24.

Huddle Up: His upside and athleticism have never been questioned, but staying healthy has been an issue. Patrick Mahomes is an unknown at the quarterback spot, but Watkins could be worth the gamble as a WR3.

  • Posted: 5/17/2018 7:58pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Demarcus Robinson's rapport with QB Patrick Mahomes and the presence of WR Tyreek Hill and WR Sammy Watkins on the outside should allow him to exploit defenses underneath this season, according to Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com.

Huddle Up: Kansas City suddenly has a crowded receiving corps, but if Mahomes excels, Robinson could be a nice depth option for fantasy owners in PPR formats.

  • Posted: 3/16/2018 8:55pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins 'hasn't been used correctly as a pro,' according to an AFC scout. 'If he gets enough touches each game, he can be a difference-maker,' the scout said.

Huddle Up: To be fair, injuries haven't helped his production either, but playing alongside Tyreek Hill, Watkins has tons of upside as a WR3.

  • Posted: 3/12/2018 8:49pm ET

Los Angeles Rams impending free-agent WR Sammy Watkins is reportedly the Chicago Bears' top target in free agency, according to multiple sources.

Huddle Up: The Bears will obviously have competition, as the Rams want to keep him and the Green Bay Packers reached out to him Monday. He would be the clear top passing-game option in Chicago should the Bears seal the deal with him, but that scenario would easily be the worst of the three for his fantasy value, likely leaving him as a WR3.

  • Posted: 3/12/2018 2:33pm ET

Free-agent WR Sammy Watkins (Rams) has drawn interest from the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to a source.

Huddle Up: The Jaguars will be in desperate need of a wide receiver if they can't bring back Allen Robinson and/or Marqise Lee. Watkins being a Jaguar wouldn't move the needle much on his fantasy value. He remains in the low-end WR2 to high-end WR3 conversation.

  • Posted: 3/9/2018 7:19pm ET

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon sent a tweet to Los Angeles Rams impending free-agent WR Sammy Watkins, asking Watkins to join him in Cincinnati.

Huddle Up: Watkins has battled health issues throughout his career, but he has elite physical tools. Playing across from A.J. Green, he'd be a high-upside WR3.

  • Posted: 3/6/2018 2:21pm ET

Los Angeles Rams impending free-agent WR Sammy Watkins will be aggressively sought after by the Rams once he enters free agency, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Los Angeles has said retaining Watkins is a priority despite being unable to sign him before the franchise tag deadline.

Huddle Up: Watkins will be one of the bigger names and one of the best wide receivers on the free-agent market. Several teams need help at the position, so the Rams will be hard pressed to bring him back. He has WR2 upside but is more sensible to be drafted as a WR3 depending on his whereabouts.

  • Posted: 3/6/2018 12:13pm ET

Los Angeles Rams impending free-agent WR Sammy Watkins is open to re-signing with the Rams this offseason but expects to have a strong free-agent market, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Watkins likely will hit the free-agent market since the team decided not to place the franchise tag on him. He posted 593 yards and 10 touchdowns during the regular season and could start for most teams in the league. He can be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy receiver in 2018 depending on where he plays.

  • Posted: 3/6/2018 10:55am ET

Los Angeles Rams impending free-agent WR Sammy Watkins will not receive the team's franchise tag, allowing him to become an unrestricted free-agent and hit the open market.

Huddle Up: Lamarcus Joyner will get the designation instead, likely in part because his tag will cost the team less money. The Rams reportedly still very much want Watkins back, but he should have a very robust market for his services. Watkins hasn't really lived up to his pre-draft hype from 2014, but he hasn't exactly been placed in great situations over the first four years of his career either. Turning 25 in June, Watkins' future is still very much in front of him and his ceiling remains sky-high.

  • Posted: 3/6/2018 6:39am ET

Los Angeles Rams impending free-agent WR Sammy Watkins won't receive the franchise tag Tuesday, March 6.

Huddle Up: The team would still like to keep him, and he could flourish in the offense. Injuries have been his biggest issue. He has WR2 talent in fantasy, but he might slip to a late WR3.

  • Posted: 1/25/2018 9:13am ET

Los Angeles Rams impending free-agent WR Sammy Watkins could be given a franchise tag or transition tag this offseason if he and the Rams can't agree on a long-term deal. General manager Les Snead said the Rams have contacted Watkins' agent to discuss contract negotiations.

Huddle Up: Los Angeles had the most improved offense last season. Watkins played his part in that effort after being acquired from the Buffalo Bills, but his numbers didn't jump off the page. If retained, Watkins has WR2 upside but is a more reasonable WR3 draftee.

  • Posted: 1/11/2018 10:24am ET

Los Angeles Rams impending free-agent WR Sammy Watkins may be given the franchise tag or a transition tag this offseason. The franchise tag would cost $16.063 million and a transition tag would cost $13.995 million. The NFL salary cap is expected to be $178.1 million in 2018.

Huddle Up: Watkins' first year with Los Angeles was mostly of the ho-hum variety, but his eight touchdowns saved his fantasy season. That many touchdowns on just 39 receptions is difficult to sustain, though, and Watkins is no more than a WR3 candidate.

  • Posted: 1/10/2018 5:54pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins believes he would 'most definitely' have a greater role in the offense if given another year to work with QB Jared Goff. 'I just think he got on a roll with the guys that he had during OTAs, and once a guy is used to throwing it to someone else, he throws to his guys,' he said. 'It's just part of the game where you need more time, or maybe another year.' Watkins just completed his rookie deal and may be tagged this offseason to remain with the club.

Huddle Up: It remains to be seen if Watkins will stay with the Rams, though it seems like there's a good chance of that happening considering how much the club gave up to acquire him in the first place. While he did manage eight touchdowns, the former Bill also had just 593 receiving yards, but he does have a point that a full offseason with Goff could do some good for both. Watkins would be in the WR3 conversation for 2018 if he continues his career in Los Angeles.

  • Posted: 1/8/2018 10:47pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent, said that it 'would be a pleasure to come back.' He also mentioned that 'it's a business' and that he's 'looking forward to talking to the coach' and seeing where his future is at.

Huddle Up: Watkins was a late addition to the Rams prior to the regular season, with expectations of being the club's No. 1 wide-out, but instead, the former Buffalo Bill ended up finishing fourth on the team in receptions (39) and receiving yards (593). His ceiling is far higher than that, though, and with quarterback Jared Goff in line for a solid third campaign next year, Watkins will have WR3 potential if fully utilized.

  • Posted: 1/6/2018 8:37pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins caught one pass on four targets for 23 yards in a 26-13 loss to the Atlanta Falcons Saturday, Jan. 6.

Huddle Up: Watkins was a touchdown-dependent option all season, so it was no surprise to see him fall flat. The big-play ability is still there, but he will have a hard time making a consistent fantasy impact as the No. 4 option in the passing attack.

  • Posted: 12/24/2017 2:48pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins finished with three grabs for 30 yards and a touchdown on seven targets in the Week 16 game against the Tennessee Titans.

Huddle Up: Watkins hasn't had huge yardage totals lately, but he has visited the end zone in four of his past five games, and six of the past eight. He remains a solid WR4 in all fantasy leagues heading into Week 17.

  • Posted: 12/17/2017 8:57pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins caught two passes for 14 yards in a 42-7 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 15.

Huddle Up: The lopsided nature of this game no doubt hurt Watkins, but now that Robert Woods is back, Watkins will be a risky, touchdown-dependent option over the final two games.

  • Posted: 12/10/2017 8:55pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins finished with three receptions for 21 yards and a touchdown in the Week 14 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Huddle Up: Watkins has scored in three consecutive games. While he hasn't done much in terms of yardage, he is a solid WR4 in deeper PPR formats since he has three or more grabs in each of the past four outings, too.

  • Posted: 12/3/2017 8:53pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins posted three grabs for 38 yards and a touchdown on four targets in Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Huddle Up: Watkins has touchdown receptions in four of the past five outings. Despite the frequent scores his catch totals and yardage make him more of a WR4 across more fantasy formats.

  • Posted: 11/26/2017 8:06pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins caught four passes on nine targets for 81 yards and a touchdown in a 26-20 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 12.

Huddle Up: Watkins has been a touchdown-dependent flex play since joining the Rams, but with Robert Woods nursing a shoulder injury, Watkins took advantage. Until Woods returns, Watkins is a lot easier to trust as a fantasy starter.

  • Posted: 11/19/2017 3:39pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins posted three grabs for 36 yards on four targets in Week 11 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Huddle Up: The three grabs tied his most since Week 3 when he had his best outing of the season with six receptions. Watkins hasn't been much of a factor in Los Angeles, certainly not nearly as quick to fit in as Robert Woods, but he did have two scores in the past two weekends. He remains more of a WR4 or flex option in deeper fantasy leagues at this point. The Rams host the Saints in Week 12.

  • Posted: 11/12/2017 8:10pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins caught two passes for 41 yards and a touchdown in a 33-7 win over the Houston Texans in Week 10.

Huddle Up: Watkins has now scored in back-to-back games, but he remains a touchdown-or-bust option. He simply doesn't have the volume to be trusted as a weekly starter.

  • Posted: 11/5/2017 1:34pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins caught one pass for 67 yards and one touchdown against the New York Giants in Week 9.

Huddle Up: Watkins reached the end zone for the first time in five games but was only targeted two times during the game. He is a risky option for owners because he has at least 60 yards in only two games this season but his big-play potential makes him valuable in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 10/22/2017 5:21pm ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins posted three catches for 42 yards on five targets in Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals in London.

Huddle Up: That isn't a lot of production, but it's his second-highest yardage total since Week 1. He no longer warrants fantasy consideration outside of the deepest of leagues heading into Week 9.

  • Posted: 10/20/2017 6:10am ET

Los Angeles Rams WR Sammy Watkins is likely to be shadowed by Arizona Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson in Week 7.

Huddle Up: Watkins has six targets, two catches and 28 yards over the last three games, and he may need to be benched for this matchup. He is an interesting buy-low option on the trade market, though.
