Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is not expected to return to the field until training camp begins.

Huddle Up: Watkins' upside is undeniable, but he is a high-risk WR2 because of his injury history.

  • Posted: 5/18/2017 8:30am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is not participating in the organized team activities Thursday, May 18.

Huddle Up: Watkins has shown equal ability on the field as his propensity for injury. His 60-1,047-9 campaign in 2015 over 13 games had him as a high-end WR2 last year before another foot injury. He'll enter 2017 as a high-risk WR2 that could fall into the WR3 area and handsomely reward you.

  • Posted: 5/5/2017 9:03am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins is not expected to receive an extension offer during the season, according to the Buffalo News's Vic Carucci, who believes new head coach Sean McDermott's big-picture vision for the roster doesn't include a huge investment in a receiver.

Huddle Up: Watkins has proven to be a dominant force when he can stay on the field but playing 21 of a possible 32 games over the last two seasons isn't helping his cause. Buffalo recently declined his fifth-year team option, so it is beginning to look like they'll be one of the more sought-after free agents in 2018. Almost regardless of where he might land, he should be no worse than a fantasy WR2 this year and beyond.

  • Posted: 5/2/2017 12:25pm ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins will not have his fifth-year option picked up, according to a source.

Huddle Up: This move, or lack of a move, makes sense for the Bills. Watkins is easily Buffalo's best receiver, but he has begun a track record of not being able to stay on the field after missing 11 total games the last two years. Watkins is a high-risk, high-reward pick and should be drafted as a low-end WR2.

  • Posted: 4/28/2017 6:32pm ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins' (foot) fifth-year option likely will not be picked up before the May 2 deadline, according to sources.

Huddle Up: Watkins is recovering from foot surgery and has dealt with injuries over the last few seasons. He should continue to be the Bills' No. 1 receiver in 2017 and can be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 4/15/2017 7:04am ET

The Buffalo Bills have not yet determined if they will pick up the fifth-year option on WR Sammy Watkins' rookie contract but the matter will be discussed internally over the next few weeks, according to a source. He is currently under contract for one more season with a salary cap hit of $6.343 million but if the option is picked up, Watkins would cost the team approximately $13 million against the cap in 2018. A decision will be made by May 2.

Huddle Up: Although it appears likely that the club will pick up Watkins' option, the matter is up for debate because of his recent injury history. He has missed 11 games over the last two seasons and is currently recovering from a second foot surgery. When healthy, Watkins should be viewed as a low-end WR2 or high-end WR3 in most fantasy formats.

  • Posted: 4/3/2017 9:49am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) has had no setbacks and looks good, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

Huddle Up: Watkins has been dogged by injuries in his three-year career. He's probably still a low-end WR2 in fantasy, but the health risk is very real.

  • Posted: 3/28/2017 4:21pm ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) has not had any setbacks in his rehabilitation from offseason foot surgery, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

Huddle Up: Watkins is perennially a risky proposition at wide receiver in the fantasy realm. He has not played a full season since his rookie year in 2014 and has missed 11 games over the last two seasons. The WR1 potential is obvious, especially with Tyrod Taylor, but Watkins has no finished higher than WR15 in his three years in the NFL. He is a low-end WR2 consideration even with the positive news.

  • Posted: 3/1/2017 10:04am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is on schedule in his recovery from offseason foot surgery, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

Huddle Up: Watkins underwent a second operation on his foot after the season and probably will not do much until training camp begins. He will be the Bills' No. 1 receiver in 2017 and probably should be considered a No. 3 option for fantasy owners because of his injury history.

  • Posted: 1/20/2017 3:01pm ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) underwent a second surgery on his injured foot last week. Watkins is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.

Huddle Up: Watkins likely will be sidelined for all of the offseason workouts but should take part in training camp as long as there are no setbacks. He will enter next season as the No. 1 receiver for the Bills and can be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 1/3/2017 7:34pm ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot, hip) will have foot surgery later this week, but it is not expected to hamper his 2017 season.

Huddle Up: Watkins should be okay for summer workouts, if not earlier, and assuming the quarterback situation is stable in Buffalo then Watkins could be a decent WR2 performer.

  • Posted: 1/2/2017 7:43am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot, hip) said he's leaning against having another surgery on his troublesome left foot. Watkins also left the Week 17 game due to a hip injury, but he said that will be fine.

Huddle Up: Watkins has been dogged by injuries in his first three seasons. If he avoids surgery, this will be his first full offseason without one. Watkins' fantasy stock will depend a lot on who the quarterback is next season, but he's at least a low-end WR2 possibility.

  • Posted: 1/1/2017 9:40pm ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (hip) left the Week 17 game against the New York Jets due to a hip injury and he was unable to return.

Huddle Up: Watkins ended up with four catches for 31 yards on nine targets. He has WR1 ability for fantasy owners, but his propensity for injury makes him more of a WR2 heading into the 2017 season.

  • Posted: 1/1/2017 2:54pm ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins caught four passes for 31 yards against the New York Jets in Week 17.

Huddle Up: Watkins played well after coming off the Reserve/Injured list and should enter next season as the team's No. 1 receiver. Owners should consider Watkins as a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in drafts next season.

  • Posted: 1/1/2017 9:07am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is officially active for the team's Week 17 game.

Huddle Up: Watkins should receive a solid amount of targets in Week 17 even though EJ Manuel will be the starting quarterback. Owners in most leagues should consider Watkins as a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver against the New York Jets.

  • Posted: 1/1/2017 7:22am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is expected to play in Week 17's game against the New York Jets. He was a limited participant in the team's two most recent practice sessions and is listed as questionable on the injury report.

Huddle Up: Watkins posted 154 receiving yards in Week 16 and has two touchdowns in his last three games but he will be catching passes from E.J. Manuel this afternoon instead of Tyrod Taylor. That being said, he should still see a decent number of targets and makes a solid WR3 option in all fantasy formats.

  • Posted: 12/30/2016 1:05pm ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 30, and is listed as questionable for Week 17.

Huddle Up: Watkins should be able to play and likely will serve as the team's top receiving option during the game. He is coming off a terrific Week 16 performance and can be a No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues despite the quarterback situation.

  • Posted: 12/29/2016 1:11pm ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 29.

Huddle Up: Watkins should be able to suit up for the final week of the season, but how much he plays remains to be seen. His foot ailment combined with EJ Manuel starting lessens his fantasy value, but he does have a great matchup with the New York Jets. Start Watkins as a low-end WR1 to high-end WR2.

  • Posted: 12/29/2016 9:16am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is participating in practice Thursday, Dec. 29.

Huddle Up: Watkins should be able to play in Week 17, but it is not known how his chemistry with E.J. Manuel at this point. He should still see a solid amount of targets during the game and should be considered a No. 3 receiver in a majority of leagues.

  • Posted: 12/28/2016 12:07pm ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 28.

Huddle Up: Watkins said he wants to play in Week 17 and probably will as long as he does not suffer a setback. He has caught two touchdowns in the last three games and posted 154 yards in Week 16. He will be playing with a new quarterback this week but can still be a decent No. 2 or No. 3 receiver.

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) said he expects to play against the New York Jets in Week 17 even though the team has been eliminated from playoff contention.

Huddle Up: Watkins is coming off a 154-yard performance in Week 16 and has two touchdowns in his last three games. He will have a favorable matchup if he plays next week and should be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver for owners.

  • Posted: 12/24/2016 3:10pm ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins caught seven passes for 154 yards and one touchdown against the Miami Dolphins in Week 16.

Huddle Up: Watkins has been targeted at least six times in three of the four games since being activated from the Reserve/Injured list and appears to be the top option in the passing game. He should be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues next week.

  • Posted: 12/24/2016 9:04am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is officially active for the team's Week 16 game.

Huddle Up: Watkins was a disappointing option for owners last week but will continue to have a solid role in the passing game for Buffalo. He could be a No. 3 receiver or a flex option for owners.

  • Posted: 12/24/2016 8:03am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is expected to play in Week 16's game against the Miami Dolphins.

Huddle Up: Watkins was a limited practice participant throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. He should be viewed as a viable WR3 or flex option this afternoon in all fantasy formats.

  • Posted: 12/23/2016 1:06pm ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 23, and is listed as questionable for Week 16.

Huddle Up: Watkins has been targeted 22 times in four games since returning from the Reserve/Injured list but has been a bit inconsistent with his receiving yards during that span. He will be facing a solid Miami Dolphins defense but can still be a low-end No. 3 receiver or a flex option for owners.

  • Posted: 12/22/2016 5:22pm ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 22.

Huddle Up: Watkins is coming off an awful showing against Cleveland, and he is a boom-or-bust WR3 against Miami in Week 16.

  • Posted: 12/21/2016 12:20pm ET

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Huddle Up: Watkins was one of the more popular fantasy options last week but finished the game with one catch and 10 yards against the Cleveland Browns. Watkins should still see a solid amount of targets in Week 16 and can be a flex option in some leagues.

  • Posted: 12/21/2016 9:10am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is practicing Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Huddle Up: Watkins had a good matchup last week and turned in just one catch for 10 yards. He has a midrange draw against the Miami Dolphins. He packs a punch with name value as a flex option, but it's hard to expect a lot out of him at this stage.

  • Posted: 12/18/2016 2:30pm ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins caught one pass for 10 yards against the Cleveland Browns in Week 15.

Huddle Up: Owners were probably expecting more from Watkins because of the favorable matchup but caught only one of his four targets. He should continue to be a key part of the passing game in the last two games of the season and can be at least a flex option in leagues.

  • Posted: 12/18/2016 9:04am ET

  • Posted: 12/13/2016 6:57am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) said he plans to play the final three games despite the team out of playoff contention.

Huddle Up: Watkins' modest 4-54-1 line last week was actually his best showing of the season. He has a good matchup against the Cleveland Browns this week, and he's a high-end WR3.

  • Posted: 12/11/2016 2:13pm ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 9, and is listed as questionable for Week 14.

Huddle Up: Watkins likely will be in uniform in Week 14 but will continue to see limited snaps because of his injured foot. He has been targeted 12 times since he returned to the lineup and has 118 yards on those games. He can be at least a flex option in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 12/8/2016 9:37am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is participating in practice Thursday, Dec. 8.

  • Posted: 12/7/2016 9:18am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is out of practice Wednesday, Dec. 7.

  • Posted: 12/4/2016 10:37pm ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins managed just three receptions for 38 yards in the Week 13 game against the Oakland Raiders. He was targeted a team-high nine times.

  • Posted: 12/4/2016 11:44am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is officially active for the team's Week 13 game.

Huddle Up: Watkins probably will see limited snaps again this week but should be a factor in the passing game after a successful Week 12 performance. Watkins should be considered a No. 3 receiver in most leagues.

  • Posted: 12/4/2016 7:27am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is expected to play in Week 13's game against the Oakland Raiders.

Huddle Up: Watkins is playing through a broken foot and is expected to see a limited number of snaps this afternoon. He should be viewed as a high-risk, high-reward WR3 or flex option because he still possesses the ability to make big plays despite the injury.

  • Posted: 12/2/2016 9:24pm ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is playing with a broken foot, offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn said Thursday, Dec. 1, and Lynn wouldn't commit to how many snaps Watkins would play in Week 13.

Huddle Up: Watkins managed 80 yards on three catches in Week 12 despite playing limited snaps, but with his foot injury potentially flaring up at any time, he is a high-risk, high-reward WR3 in Week 13.

  • Posted: 12/2/2016 2:35pm ET

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is listed as questionable for Week 13.

Huddle Up: Watkins should be able to play but likely will see limited snaps again. He posted a solid 80 yards in Week 13 and has a chance to make a big play each game. Owners should consider him a No. 3 receiver or a flex option in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 12/2/2016 10:07am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is 'going to play' in Week 13 against the Oakland Raiders, according to head coach Rex Ryan.

Huddle Up: Watkins will be listed as questionable on the injury report and certainly at risk to aggravate the injury during the game, but the fact he was able to hang three catches for 80 yards on only 25 snaps last week against a good Jacksonville Jaguars secondary is proof he doesn't need a lot of playing time to be useful in fantasy. Consider him a high-risk, high-reward WR2 this weekend.

  • Posted: 12/1/2016 10:36am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 1, and head coach Rex Ryan said he expects Watkins to play barring a setback. Offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn said Watkins received only three snaps during practice and is not 100 percent at this point. Lynn said he believes Watkins still has a broken bone in his foot but it is a pain tolerance situation.

Huddle Up: Watkins caught all three of his targets in Week 12 and finished for 80 yards. He probably will continue to receive limited playing time but should still be one of the main targets in the passing game. Watkins can be a No. 3 receiver for owners if he is active.

  • Posted: 12/1/2016 9:09am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is participating in practice Thursday, Dec. 1.

Huddle Up: Watkins likely will be able to play in Week 13 if he does not suffer a setback during practice. He played well in his first game back but may continue to see limited snaps for now. Watkins should be considered a No. 3 receiver in most leagues.

  • Posted: 11/28/2016 7:07am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins played in 25 of 55 (45 percent) offensive plays in Week 12.

Huddle Up: He caught three balls for 80 yards in what was probably more than originally expected. He'll have a bit of a tough matchup against the Oakland Raiders next week.

  • Posted: 11/27/2016 6:41pm ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) returned to the lineup in Week 12 against the Jacksonville Jaguars and he finished with three catches for 80 yards on his three targets, including one grab for 62 yards.

Huddle Up: Watkins was seeing his first action since Week 2. If he is available off the waiver wire Watkins is worth scooping up, as he can be a big-time play marker when healthy. Unfortunately, staying healthy has been a big-time issue for Watkins.

  • Posted: 11/27/2016 7:55am ET

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) will start Week 12's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The amount of playing time he receives will depend on how his foot feels.

Huddle Up: Head coach Rex Ryan said Watkins would receive a lighter workload than normal in his first action since Week 2, so he should be viewed as a risky option in all formats. Seasonal owners should continue to stash Watkins on their rosters since he is likely to be a factor once the fantasy playoffs get underway.
