Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron hauled in five balls for 42 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 against the New York Giants on Monday, Sept. 18.

Huddle Up: Ebron, whose hometown is nearby Jersey City, N.J., seemed to play with a little more purpose. He has always had the potential to be a star in this league but health has been major hurdle. If he can stay healthy he might be on track for a special season in 2017.

  • Posted: 9/10/2017 4:38pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron posted just two receptions for nine yards on three targets in Week 1 against the Cardinals.

Huddle Up: Ebron was hampered by a hamstring injury for a good chunk of the preseason, but he was off the injury report on Friday and was expected to be 100 percent. He wasn't. Ebron has the potential to be a decent low-end TE1 in most fantasy leagues but he is so inconsistent. He'll be back at it in Week 2 on the road against the Giants.

  • Posted: 9/6/2017 2:33pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) is not listed on the Lions' injury report Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Huddle Up: Ebron's injury history is well documented, but he's good to go for now. He has a great opportunity to improve on last season with the departure of Anquan Boldin, particularly in situations near the end zone as he only caught one touchdown in 2017. Ebron can easily attain TE1 numbers if he plays a full season.

  • Posted: 8/28/2017 12:21pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) returned to practice Monday, Aug. 28.

Huddle Up: Ebron has a good chance to break out this year if he can stay on the field. With the loss of Anquan Boldin, Ebron's usage near the end zone will ideally increase after scoring just one touchdowns last season. Draft him as a low-end TE1.

  • Posted: 8/21/2017 2:36pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Monday, Aug. 21.

Huddle Up: Ebron has been dealing with the injury for several weeks, so owners will need to monitor the situation to see when he will be able to return to the field. Ebron has the potential to be a low-end No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues, but his injury history may make him drop in drafts.

  • Posted: 8/17/2017 6:40pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, Aug. 17.

Huddle Up: Ebron has spent most of training camp on the sidelines because of his hamstring injury, so owners will need to continue to monitor the situation. He can be a low-end No. 1 fantasy tight end when healthy, but owners probably should take another strong tight end option if they draft Ebron.

  • Posted: 8/16/2017 4:32pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Aug. 16.

Huddle Up: It is not known if Ebron suffered a setback or if the team is being cautious with him, but he probably will not play in the second preseason game. Ebron will have a role in the passing game if he is able to recover before the start of the season and has a chance to be a low-end No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 8/11/2017 6:41am ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) returned to practice Friday, Aug. 11.

Huddle Up: For all the headaches he has caused fantasy owners with his propensity for injury, Ebron still has a lot of upside. He's a low-end TE1, which still presents quite a bit of room for draft day profit.

  • Posted: 8/7/2017 5:51pm ET

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell said he envisions TE Eric Ebron to be in the 60-catch range this season.

Huddle Up: Ebron caught 61 passes in 13 games last season, so he should be able to post similar numbers this season. He has posted only seven touchdowns in his three years in the NFL but is still a solid fantasy option because of his receptions and receiving yards. He can be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 8/6/2017 6:06pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Sunday, Aug. 6, but he was able to run on the sidelines.

Huddle Up: Detroit has no reason to rush Ebron back. He might not have the upside many expected when he was drafted, but he has developed into a low-end TE1.

  • Posted: 8/6/2017 4:12pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Sunday, Aug. 6.

Huddle Up: The Lions are likely being cautious with Ebron and do not want to bring him back too soon. He probably will miss at least the first preseason game, so owners should continue to monitor the situation. Ebron has a chance to have a solid role in the passing game but probably should be a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 tight end in fantasy leagues at this point.

  • Posted: 7/31/2017 6:30pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Monday, July 31.

Huddle Up: The Lions probably will take things slow with Ebron because of the injury and Ebron's injury history. Owners should monitor his progress over the next few days to see if the injury is not serious. Ebron is expected to have solid role in the passing game as long as he is healthy and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in most leagues.

  • Posted: 7/30/2017 4:37pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) left practice early Sunday, July 30, after he suffered an apparent hamstring injury, according to head coach Jim Caldwell.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to look for an update on Ebron's status in the next day or two to see if it will cost him more than a few days. He has dealt with injuries in the past and has missed at least two games in each of his first three seasons. He is coming off a decent 2016 season and is expected to have a solid role in the passing game this season. He is a risky option because of his injury history but could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in some leagues.

  • Posted: 7/13/2017 8:23pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron was third on the team in yards and receptions last year, and Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press believes the departure of free-agent WR Anquan Boldin (Lions) could help Ebron improve on his one touchdown from a year ago.

Huddle Up: Ebron should continue to have a prominent role in Detroit's passing game, giving him a safe floor and making him worth grabbing as a low-end TE1.

  • Posted: 7/10/2017 1:05pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron is 'overly excited' for how he's going to be used in the Lions' offense this year, adding that it's going to be fun for him.

Huddle Up: Anquan Boldin is gone, so Ebron has a good opportunity to at least score more this season. He's been somewhat disappointing so far in his young career, but if he can stay healthy he has TE1 potential.

  • Posted: 5/17/2017 11:42am ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said he has talked with general manager Bob Quinn about a possible contract extension.

Huddle Up: Ebron posted a career-high 711 receiving yards in 2016 but recorded only one touchdown in 13 games. He has missed at least two games in each of the last three seasons, so he does have a bit of an injury concern. He probably can be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 5/13/2017 8:30am ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron has yet to play 16 games in a season for the Lions, but he set career-highs last year in receptions (61) and yards (711) last season. He has also improved as a blocker, while his drop rate went from 10.1 percent in 2015 to 5.8 percent in 2016 even as he was targeted 17 more times and had a higher percentage of targets per route run and receptions per route run, according to ESPN's Michael Rothstein.

Huddle Up: Ebron will complain about the fact he scored only one touchdown, but the evidence does support Rothstein's assertion. The tight end position is one of the hardest for young players to learn, and Ebron entered the league more as a glorified slot than in-line tight end. He's climbed into TE1 territory for fantasy purposes and can be expected to take another leap forward this year so long as he stays healthy for the first time in his career.

  • Posted: 5/2/2017 5:30am ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron had his fifth-year option exercised Tuesday, May 2.

Huddle Up: Ebron continues to tease with his athletic ability and continues to go down to injury. He had career highs of 61 catches and 711 yards last season but just one touchdown. This will be a pivotal year for him as a midrange TE1 in fantasy.

  • Posted: 4/21/2017 9:09am ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron remains a candidate to have his fifth-year option worth more than $8 million picked up by the May 2 deadline, but general manager Bob Quinn has yet to make that decision.

Huddle Up: Ebron has steadily improved over his first three years in Detroit, but he has still been a bit of a disappointment, especially considering Odell Beckham Jr. and Aaron Donald went two and three picks after him, respectively. Miami (Fla.) TE David Njoku has been a popular mock draft selection for the Lions this spring, perhaps in part because second-year position coach Al Golden recruited him to the Hurricanes.

  • Posted: 1/16/2017 4:09pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said his goal for next season is to have a 1,000-yard season. He said another goal is to stay healthy for the entire season.

Huddle Up: Ebron will be a free agent this offseason but should be able to find a starting job with a team during free agency. He has had problems with injuries during his career but can be considered a No. 2 tight end in fantasy drafts if he stays healthy.

  • Posted: 1/5/2017 8:33pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron's fifth-year option will likely be picked up, according to beat writer Dave Birkett, and head coach Jim Caldwell said Ebron has performed well and has improved every year.

Huddle Up: Ebron's numbers continue to trend in the right direction. If he is back in Detroit in 2017, he has a good chance to sneak into TE1 territory.

  • Posted: 12/31/2016 7:05pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron is 'functioning better' this season, according to head coach Jim Caldwell, and Caldwell said Ebron has the talent and ability to continue to improve.

Huddle Up: Ebron has improved his catch and yardage totals in each of his first three seasons. He is a borderline TE1 option in deeper leagues against the Packers in Week 17.

  • Posted: 12/26/2016 9:50pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron posted game highs with eight catches, 93 yards and 12 targets in the Week 16 game against the Dallas Cowboys Monday, Dec. 26.

Huddle Up: The yardage total was a season high, which is nice, but he hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 1. He faces the Green Bay Packers in Week 17, a team he posted five grabs for 69 yards on eight targets back in Week 3.

  • Posted: 12/18/2016 6:37am ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) is expected to play in Week 15's game against the New York Giants, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Ebron was limited in practice all week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Although he will probably see a decent number of targets, he has underachieved recently and hasn't reached the end zone since Week 1. He should be viewed as no better than a low-end TE1 in deep seasonal leagues.

  • Posted: 12/14/2016 1:41pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 14.

Huddle Up: For the most part, it's hard to be comfortable with any tight end nowadays, including Ebron. If he is active, he's at best a fringe TE1, but that may be generous.

  • Posted: 12/11/2016 8:51pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron hauled in four receptions for 32 yards on five targets in the Week 14 game against the Chicago Bears.

Huddle Up: Ebron hasn't found the end zone since Week 1 and he should be treated as more of a TE2 in most fantasy leagues heading into Week 15.

  • Posted: 12/11/2016 8:57am ET

Confirming a previous report, Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) will play in Week 14's game against the Chicago Bears.

Huddle Up: Ebron was a limited participant in practice throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. He should still be considered a low-end TE1 in deeper fantasy leagues, although he has turned in a pair of disappointing performances over the last two weeks.

  • Posted: 12/8/2016 2:29pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was a limited participant in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 8.

Huddle Up: After laying an egg on Thanksgiving, Ebron was able to somewhat bounce back with a four-catch effort this past Sunday, albeit for only 38 yards. He'll probably be able to suit up in the next game, though he'd be a low-end TE1 option if Marvin Jones (quadriceps) is able to return after missing Week 13.

  • Posted: 12/7/2016 2:11pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Huddle Up: Ebron was targeted more frequently than usual last week, but that was partly because Marvin Jones was sidelined. If Jones is active then Ebron's value takes a decrease, but he remains a low-end TE1 option.

  • Posted: 11/20/2016 5:54pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron hauled in three receptions for 70 yards in the Week 11 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was targeted five times and he also had one run for one yard and a touchdown.

Huddle Up: Ebron has posted 70 or more receiving yards in each of the past three outings, re-emerging as a low-end TE1 after a slow start due to injury.

  • Posted: 11/7/2016 5:25am ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron had seven catches for 92 yards in Week 9 Sunday, Nov. 6.

Huddle Up: He has caught 14 balls for 171 yards on 18 targets the last two games. He hasn't reached the end zone since his first game, but his usage puts him in the midrange TE1 tier.

  • Posted: 10/30/2016 8:04am ET

Updating previous reports, Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) will be active for Week 8's game against the Houston Texans.

Huddle Up: Ebron was a full participant in practice Friday, Oct. 28, after being involved on a limited basis earlier in the week. He was a consistent performer in the four games he played prior to getting hurt and is worth considering as a low-end TE1 in all fantasy formats.

  • Posted: 10/29/2016 8:29pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) is on track to play against the Houston Texans in Week 8, and offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter said he thinks Ebron will see more targets in his return to the lineup than he did before his injuries.

Huddle Up: Ebron was second on the team in yards when he went down, and he is a low-end TE1 candidate in Week 8.

  • Posted: 10/28/2016 3:40pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 8.

Huddle Up: Ebron should return to the lineup after missing several weeks because of his injuries. He has been fairly consistent in the four games he has played this season and can be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues in Week 8.

  • Posted: 10/27/2016 4:27pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) was a full participant at practice Thursday, Oct. 27.

Huddle Up: After missing the last three games, it looks like Ebron will be making his return in Week 8. He participated in practice on a limited basis on Wednesday, so today's upgrade certainly solidifies that. However, with the recent emergence of Golden Tate, not to mention the likely return of Theo Riddick, owners might want to take a wait-and-see approach with Ebron as he eases back into his weekly role. That is, unless there's no one else to use at tight end this week.

  • Posted: 10/27/2016 12:59pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) is expected to play against the Houston Texans in Week 8.

Huddle Up: Ebron is not played since Week 4 because of his injuries but likely will be in the starting lineup this week. He was consistent in the four games he has played this season and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end if he is active.

  • Posted: 10/26/2016 3:48pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Huddle Up: Ebron hasn't played since Oct. 2, and he could very well be limited if he is active for Week 8. The Houston Texans have been stingy against tight ends this year, too. Wait a week before starting Ebron again.

  • Posted: 10/21/2016 6:50pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) did not practice Friday, Oct. 21, and he has been ruled out for Week 7.

Huddle Up: With Ebron set to miss another game, Golden Tate could be in line for his second straight big performance.

  • Posted: 10/20/2016 3:24pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) missed practice again Thursday, Oct. 20.

Huddle Up: Ebron has missed the last two weeks and it's looking like he's about to sit out his third consecutive game. Detroit's options behind him are essentially useless in fantasy, so owners seeking a tight end should be looking elsewhere for help.

  • Posted: 10/19/2016 5:11pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Huddle Up: Ebron has missed the last two games because of his injuries and may not be able to play in Week 7. Owners can keep an eye on the situation but should have other options ready to use.

  • Posted: 10/14/2016 2:07pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) will not play Week 6 versus the Los Angeles Rams.

Huddle Up: Ebron logged either four or five catches in each of his first four games. Injuries are keeping him from reaching his considerable ceiling, but owners should keep him around if at all possible as he is expected back sooner than later. In the current landscape, Ebron's first four weeks' worth of production puts him in the TE1 discussion.

  • Posted: 10/14/2016 8:36am ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) is out of practice Friday, Oct. 14.

Huddle Up: Ebron doesn't look good for Week 6. Adjust your lineups accordingly, but none of the other Detroit tight ends figure to be good plays against the Los Angeles Rams.

  • Posted: 10/13/2016 10:20am ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 13.

Huddle Up: It appears like Ebron will miss at least one more week because of his injuries, but he has not been ruled out yet. Owners in most leagues should be able to find other options to use in their lineups.

  • Posted: 10/12/2016 5:23pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Huddle Up: Ebron was not able to play in Week 5 and may miss another game if he is not able to practice this week. Owners probably should look to use other options to use even if he is active for the game.

  • Posted: 10/9/2016 9:47am ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) could miss a couple of weeks while he recovers from his injuries, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Cole Wick and Clay Harbor likely will see playing time at tight end while Ebron is sidelined, but neither player is a strong fantasy option.

  • Posted: 10/7/2016 1:25pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) has been ruled out for the team's Week 5 contest Sunday, Oct. 9, against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Huddle Up: Cole Wick figures to get the start in his place, but it's tough to gauge how reliable he can be in what would amount to his first career start. He's really only a desperate tight end option for the deepest of leagues.

  • Posted: 10/6/2016 4:40pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) did not participate in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 6.

Huddle Up: It was already reported that Ebron is 'likely' to sit out the team's Week 5 game, and his lack of participation in practice this week should ensure that is indeed the case. Cole Wick would probably get the first opportunity to fill in, but won't be considered a legitimate fantasy option this week in just about all leagues.

  • Posted: 10/5/2016 10:42pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) is not expected to be able to play in Week 5 against the Philadelphia Eagles, a source said Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Huddle Up: If Ebron is unable to play, look for Cole Wick and Khari Lee to attempt to fill the void.

  • Posted: 10/5/2016 5:20pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Huddle Up: Ebron is dealing with multiple injuries and may not be able to play in Week 5. Owners should keep an eye on the situation and may need other options ready to use if he is ruled out.

  • Posted: 10/2/2016 11:44am ET

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle, knee) returned to the team's Week 4 game after missing time because of ankle and knee injuries. Ebron appeared to be running fine when he returned.

Huddle Up: Ebron appears to be fine and should have a solid role in the passing game. He can be a low-end No. 1 tight end against certain matchup but is not a must-start player.
