Indianapolis Colts TE Eric Ebron was one of the more impressive players during offseason workouts and could have an impact in the passing game this season, in the opinion of the Indianapolis Star's Stephen Holder.

Huddle Up: Ebron likely will have a solid role in the passing game in 2018 even if he is not the starting tight end and could be a target in the red zone. He has a chance to be a No. 2 fantasy tight end in some leagues.

  • Posted: 6/8/2018 7:19pm ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Eric Ebron said he looks forward to playing with QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) because he is 'always open' in head coach Frank Reich's offensive system.

Huddle Up: A change of scenery and Andrew Luck could help Ebron finally reach his potential, but he remains a boom-or-bust TE2 candidate for now.

  • Posted: 5/17/2018 7:09pm ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Eric Ebron could be the 'de facto third receiver' this year, according to Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com.

Huddle Up: Ebron has teased fantasy owners with his upside since entering the league. There is always a chance Andrew Luck could finally unlock Ebron's potential, but he is no more than a flier as a TE2.

  • Posted: 3/29/2018 7:33pm ET

Indianapolis Colts TE Eric Ebron is an 'elite' player at his position, according to head coach Frank Reich, and Reich expects Ebron to be able to exploit man coverages.

Huddle Up: Ebron has been teasing fantasy owners with his physical tools since coming into the NFL, but he's yet live up to the hype. Feel free to gamble on him as an upside TE2, but Ebron's move to Indianapolis is likely to hurt Jack Doyle's fantasy value more than it will help his own.

  • Posted: 3/19/2018 5:54pm ET

Free-agent TE Eric Ebron (Lions) signed a two-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts worth a maximum value of $15 million on Monday, March 19, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Huddle Up: This is a curious signing for the Colts, if only because tight end isn't necessarily a need for the team (Jack Doyle) and Ebron isn't a particularly good blocker. Indianapolis was one of the worst places for Ebron from a fantasy perspective, as he seems unlikely to beat out Doyle. Even if the Colts play more two-tight sets than any other team in the league in 2018, Ebron will likely struggle to maintain TE2 value while also hurting Doyle's case for TE1 status.

  • Posted: 3/19/2018 6:43am ET

Free-agent TE Eric Ebron (Lions) is visiting the Indianapolis Colts Monday, March 19.

Huddle Up: Ebron has all the physical talent, but he has been oft-injured and a fantasy bust since he entered the league. There is still time to put it together, and he's worth monitoring as a TE2.

  • Posted: 3/15/2018 4:59pm ET

Free-agent TE Eric Ebron (Lions) may have a meeting with the New England Patriots, according to a source.

Huddle Up: The Patriots may be looking for a tight end because Rob Gronkowski's future is uncertain. Ebron probably would have a solid role in the passing game if he joined the Patriots and could be a No. 2 fantasy tight end.

  • Posted: 3/15/2018 4:58pm ET

Free-agent TE Eric Ebron (Lions) is scheduled to meet with the Indianapolis Colts Sunday, March 18, according to a source.

Huddle Up: The Colts have Jack Doyle on the roster, but Ebron would bring another target to the team's passing game if he joins the Colts. Ebron should have a solid role for a team next season and could be a No. 2 fantasy tight end.

  • Posted: 3/15/2018 1:01pm ET

Free-agent TE Eric Ebron (Lions) is receiving some interest from the Baltimore Ravens.

Huddle Up: Ebron has posted decent numbers over the last few seasons and likely would start for the Ravens if he signed with them. Ebron probably will be a No. 2 fantasy tight end no matter where he plays in 2018.

  • Posted: 3/14/2018 12:18pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron was released Wednesday, March 14.

Huddle Up: Ebron has underachieved throughout his four-year career. His years were numbered in Detroit, but he could find a rejuvenated career if he is signed into the right situation. As of now, Darren Fells carries more fantasy value in Detroit, but they could add to the position.

  • Posted: 12/29/2017 1:37pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 29, and is not on the injury report for Week 17.

Huddle Up: Ebron has been a big part in the passing game recently with 26 targets over the last three games. He has recorded at least 83 yards in two of his last three games and has a touchdown in each of the last two games. Ebron can be considered a low-end No. 1 fantasy tight end this week.

  • Posted: 12/28/2017 2:04pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

Huddle Up: Ebron has been more involved in the passing game lately and has caught a touchdown in each of the last two games. He can be considered a low-end No. 1 fantasy tight end against the Green Bay Packers this week.

  • Posted: 12/27/2017 10:05pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Huddle Up: Taken by itself, Ebron's limited work on a Wednesday might not be cause for concern, but remember the Lions just signed TE Hakeem Valles to the active roster as well. With nothing on the line the team won't push Ebron to play, but if he's a go he's in a tasty matchup against a Packers defense that is both vulnerable and playing out the string. Keep an eye on the situation.

  • Posted: 12/24/2017 4:27pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron finished with five receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Huddle Up: Ebron has posted 20 receptions for 210 yards and two touchdowns over the past three games, as he finishes up strong. He has been a lightning rod for angry fans in Motown over his career, but he has really started to come on lately.

  • Posted: 12/10/2017 7:09pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron racked up 10 receptions for 94 yards on 11 targets in Week 14 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Huddle Up: Ebron has been a disappointment for most of his career but he has really started to come on lately. He has four or more receptions in each of the past four outings, totaling 22 receptions. This was his biggest production, though, by far. He is still more of a TE2 in most fantasy leagues until this becomes the norm.

  • Posted: 11/23/2017 5:15pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron caught four passes for 34 yards against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 12.

Huddle Up: Ebron has been fairly consistent for the past month in terms of his stats but does have one touchdown during that span. Owners probably should consider Ebron as a No. 2 fantasy tight end.

  • Posted: 11/19/2017 2:36pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron managed four receptions for 49 yards on seven targets in Week 11 against the Chicago Bears.

Huddle Up: Ebron has emerged as a low-end TE1 in deeper fantasy leagues with two or more grabs in four straight outings while posting at least 35 yards in each of the contests. The Lions host the Vikings on Thanksgiving in Week 12. He had two grabs for 27 yards in Week 4 in the first meeting with Minnesota.

  • Posted: 11/7/2017 8:23am ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron didn't start Monday, Nov. 6, for the first time this season.

Huddle Up: He ended up catching three balls for 35 yards while starter Darren Fells caught just one pass for 10 yards. Neither are producing enough to be worth starting in fantasy, and maybe Ebron figures it out eventually. If you need the space, he can be cut loose.

  • Posted: 11/3/2017 9:15pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron's chances of being traded before the deadline were exaggerated, according to head coach Jim Caldwell, and Caldwell said he expects Ebron's production to improve as the season goes on.

Huddle Up: Ebron has been a non-factor in the offense for much of the year, and he will need a few weeks of improved production before he can be considered anything more than a low-end TE2.

  • Posted: 10/29/2017 8:53pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron had a pair of receptions for 58 yards in the second half of the Week 8 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Huddle Up: Ebron, the subject of trade rumors heading into Tuesday's deadline, might have boosted his stock a little bit, especially with his second grab which covered 44 yards. Regardless of where he finishes this season, he is nothing more than a low-end TE2 in most fantasy leagues until he shows more consistency.

  • Posted: 10/29/2017 7:04am ET

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron is actively being shopped to other teams and likely will be moved before the trade deadline, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Ebron has posted only 13 catches and 102 yards so far this season, so the Lions probably would only receive a late-round pick if they decide to trade him. He has had success in the past but should only be considered a No. 2 fantasy tight end no matter where he plays.

  • Posted: 10/29/2017 5:24am ET

Multiple teams have reportedly contacted the Detroit Lions to discuss trading for TE Eric Ebron.

Huddle Up: The 24-year-old Ebron has just 13 receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown through six games this season and has been overshadowed by teammate Darren Fells, who has three touchdowns in his last two games. Ebron is not worth starting in any fantasy format at this point due to inconsistency.

  • Posted: 10/15/2017 4:55pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron managed just one catch for nine yards in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints on a total of three targets.

Huddle Up: Ebron appears to be behind Darren Fells on the depth chart right now. That's rather unofficial, but Matthew Stafford has found Fells for three touchdowns over the past two games while not trusting Ebron. The Lions are off in Week 7.

  • Posted: 10/10/2017 3:25pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron met with QB Matthew Stafford Monday, Oct. 9, in an effort to correct the slump he's been in this season. Ebron said he is 'in the dumps' mentally and needs to get his act together. Through five games this year, Ebron has managed just 12 catches for 93 yards and a touchdown.

Huddle Up: Ebron seems to disappoint season after season, but the fact that he is meeting with Stafford and trying to get out of his funk is encouraging. Until he starts performing consistently well, though, Ebron belongs on fantasy benches.

  • Posted: 10/8/2017 3:27pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron posted just one catch for six yards on four targets in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers.

Huddle Up: Ebron was overshadowed by Darren Fells, as Matthew Stafford hit that veteran tight end for two fourth-quarter touchdowns, much to the dismay of Ebron's fantasy owners. He came into the league with so much potential, but injuries and inconsistent play have really limited his usefulness.

  • Posted: 10/1/2017 3:03pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron managed just two catches for 27 yards on four targets in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Huddle Up: Ebron has a ton of potential to be a TE1 in all fantasy formats, but for some reason he just falls short. He has 27 or fewer receiving yards in three of his four outings. At this point he is a risky fantasy play heading into Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers until he starts to show more consistency.

  • Posted: 9/18/2017 8:48pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron hauled in five balls for 42 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 against the New York Giants on Monday, Sept. 18.

Huddle Up: Ebron, whose hometown is nearby Jersey City, N.J., seemed to play with a little more purpose. He has always had the potential to be a star in this league but health has been major hurdle. If he can stay healthy he might be on track for a special season in 2017.

  • Posted: 9/10/2017 4:38pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron posted just two receptions for nine yards on three targets in Week 1 against the Cardinals.

Huddle Up: Ebron was hampered by a hamstring injury for a good chunk of the preseason, but he was off the injury report on Friday and was expected to be 100 percent. He wasn't. Ebron has the potential to be a decent low-end TE1 in most fantasy leagues but he is so inconsistent. He'll be back at it in Week 2 on the road against the Giants.

  • Posted: 9/6/2017 2:33pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) is not listed on the Lions' injury report Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Huddle Up: Ebron's injury history is well documented, but he's good to go for now. He has a great opportunity to improve on last season with the departure of Anquan Boldin, particularly in situations near the end zone as he only caught one touchdown in 2017. Ebron can easily attain TE1 numbers if he plays a full season.

  • Posted: 8/28/2017 12:21pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) returned to practice Monday, Aug. 28.

Huddle Up: Ebron has a good chance to break out this year if he can stay on the field. With the loss of Anquan Boldin, Ebron's usage near the end zone will ideally increase after scoring just one touchdowns last season. Draft him as a low-end TE1.

  • Posted: 8/21/2017 2:36pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Monday, Aug. 21.

Huddle Up: Ebron has been dealing with the injury for several weeks, so owners will need to monitor the situation to see when he will be able to return to the field. Ebron has the potential to be a low-end No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues, but his injury history may make him drop in drafts.

  • Posted: 8/17/2017 6:40pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, Aug. 17.

Huddle Up: Ebron has spent most of training camp on the sidelines because of his hamstring injury, so owners will need to continue to monitor the situation. He can be a low-end No. 1 fantasy tight end when healthy, but owners probably should take another strong tight end option if they draft Ebron.

  • Posted: 8/16/2017 4:32pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Aug. 16.

Huddle Up: It is not known if Ebron suffered a setback or if the team is being cautious with him, but he probably will not play in the second preseason game. Ebron will have a role in the passing game if he is able to recover before the start of the season and has a chance to be a low-end No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 8/11/2017 6:41am ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) returned to practice Friday, Aug. 11.

Huddle Up: For all the headaches he has caused fantasy owners with his propensity for injury, Ebron still has a lot of upside. He's a low-end TE1, which still presents quite a bit of room for draft day profit.

  • Posted: 8/7/2017 5:51pm ET

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell said he envisions TE Eric Ebron to be in the 60-catch range this season.

Huddle Up: Ebron caught 61 passes in 13 games last season, so he should be able to post similar numbers this season. He has posted only seven touchdowns in his three years in the NFL but is still a solid fantasy option because of his receptions and receiving yards. He can be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 8/6/2017 6:06pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Sunday, Aug. 6, but he was able to run on the sidelines.

Huddle Up: Detroit has no reason to rush Ebron back. He might not have the upside many expected when he was drafted, but he has developed into a low-end TE1.

  • Posted: 8/6/2017 4:12pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Sunday, Aug. 6.

Huddle Up: The Lions are likely being cautious with Ebron and do not want to bring him back too soon. He probably will miss at least the first preseason game, so owners should continue to monitor the situation. Ebron has a chance to have a solid role in the passing game but probably should be a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 tight end in fantasy leagues at this point.

  • Posted: 7/31/2017 6:30pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) did not participate in practice Monday, July 31.

Huddle Up: The Lions probably will take things slow with Ebron because of the injury and Ebron's injury history. Owners should monitor his progress over the next few days to see if the injury is not serious. Ebron is expected to have solid role in the passing game as long as he is healthy and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in most leagues.

  • Posted: 7/30/2017 4:37pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) left practice early Sunday, July 30, after he suffered an apparent hamstring injury, according to head coach Jim Caldwell.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to look for an update on Ebron's status in the next day or two to see if it will cost him more than a few days. He has dealt with injuries in the past and has missed at least two games in each of his first three seasons. He is coming off a decent 2016 season and is expected to have a solid role in the passing game this season. He is a risky option because of his injury history but could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in some leagues.

  • Posted: 7/13/2017 8:23pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron was third on the team in yards and receptions last year, and Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press believes the departure of free-agent WR Anquan Boldin (Lions) could help Ebron improve on his one touchdown from a year ago.

Huddle Up: Ebron should continue to have a prominent role in Detroit's passing game, giving him a safe floor and making him worth grabbing as a low-end TE1.

  • Posted: 7/10/2017 1:05pm ET

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron is 'overly excited' for how he's going to be used in the Lions' offense this year, adding that it's going to be fun for him.

Huddle Up: Anquan Boldin is gone, so Ebron has a good opportunity to at least score more this season. He's been somewhat disappointing so far in his young career, but if he can stay healthy he has TE1 potential.
