Houston Texans DE Jadeveon Clowney (knee) is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

Huddle Up: That will be a welcome sight for the Texans and Clowney's IDP owners after he missed all but four games of his rookie season. Still, we're left to wonder how long it will take before we see the Clowney that was the No. 1 overall pick.

Updating an ongoing story, Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney (knee) is doing well in his recovery from microfracture surgery. Clowney has been working hard at rehabbing the knee, according to Texans head coach Bill O'Brien.

Huddle Up: Microfracture surgery is never good news, but Clowney at least got a jump on things, missing the last month-and-a-half of the 2014 season. The progress reports sound promising, but the true tests lie ahead, and let's see what he able to do once training camp and the preseason roll around.

Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney (knee) is doing well in his progress from microfracture knee surgery, according to general manager Rick Smith. Smith said he is encouraged by Clowney's recovery and expects him to be a major contributor in 2015.

Huddle Up: Microfracture is a scary term, and IDP leaguers will need to follow Clowney's progress throughout the summer.

Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney continues to recover from microfracture surgery on his knee. Head coach Bill O'Brien said this week that there is no timetable for Clowney's return, but the team hopes to get him on the field 'sometime during (training camp).'

Huddle Up: The road back remains long for the 2014 No. 1 overall pick who's a true IDP wild card heading into this season after recording only seven tackles in four games during his injury-curtailed rookie campaign.

  • Posted: 12/10/2014 9:12pm ET

Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney (knee) was officially placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Huddle Up: Clowney isn't even a lock to be ready for the start of the 2015 season. His rookie campaign ends with zero sacks and a knee injury that is a concern going forward.

  • Posted: 12/9/2014 11:36pm ET

Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney (knee) underwent microfracture surgery Monday, Dec. 8, and he is expected to be sidelined nine months, according to sources. With a nine-month recovery time, being ready for the start of the 2015 season is in doubt.

Huddle Up: The news continues to be bleak for the 2014 No. 1 overall pick, who saw action in only four games as a rookie. We'll continue to monitor his progress throughout the offseason.

Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney (knee) was placed on season-ending Reserve/Injured Thursday, Dec. 4, according to head coach Bill O'Brien. Clowney will undergo surgery on his right knee.

Huddle Up: Definitely a season of shattered dreams and disappointment for the first overall pick and his IDP owners as he finishes the year with 7 total tackles in 4 games played. Having the surgery now will at least increase his chances of being at or near full strength for the 2015 regular-season opener.

Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney (knee) is getting a second opinion on his injured knee Wednesday, Dec. 3, from Dr. James Andrews. Clowney is considered day-to-day.

Huddle Up: Second opinions rarely bring good news so don't get your hopes too high for the star-crossed first overall pick.

  • Posted: 11/28/2014 3:07pm ET

Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney (knee) will sit out in Week 13 against the Tennessee Titans, according to head coach Bill O'Brien. O'Brien was non-committal when asked if Clowney would be shut down for the rest of the year, though.

Huddle Up: It's been a lost season for the No. 1 overall pick, who has seven total tackles in four games played.

  • Posted: 11/14/2014 12:05am ET

Houston Texans DE Jadeveon Clowney (knee) will have a limited role if he is able to play in Week 11. Clowney could be limited to pass-rushing opportunities like he was in Week 8.

Huddle Up: It's been a lost season so far for the No. 1 overall pick as he's registered all of two tackles in two games so far. The Texans are hoping to get him back to aid in a late run at the postseason, but time's running short in terms of fantasy purposes.

Houston Texans DE Jadeveon Clowney (illness, knee) said he is still dealing with some soreness in his surgically repaired knee. Clowney hopes to be able to play in Week 11 but does not know about his status.

Huddle Up: The 2014 season is quickly slipping away from the No. 1 overall pick who has played in 2 games and registered 2 total tackles.

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney is unlikely to play in Week 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles. 'It doesn't look very good for him playing Sunday,' head coach Bill O'Brien said.

Huddle Up: It's a mixed bag of IDP news here as Clowney reportedly is dealing with an unspecified illness that could keep him out Sunday, according to a Friday ESPN report. At least, however, there doesn't look to be any complications with his surgically-repaired knee that sidelined him from Weeks 2-7 before his return last Sunday.

Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney (knee) has a good chance to play in Week 8, according to head coach Bill O'Brien. Clowney will be on a limited snap count if he is active for the game.

Huddle Up: Expect the first-overall pick to play this week after coming real close this past Monday night in Pittsburgh.

  • Posted: 10/20/2014 8:00pm ET

Houston Texans DE Jadeveon Clowney (knee) will not play in Week 7 because his lateral movement is not where the team wants it to be.

Huddle Up: The top overall pick warmed up and reportedly was close to returning, but he will sit out a sixth straight game.

  • Posted: 9/30/2014 7:23pm ET

Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney (knee) began running Tuesday, Sept. 30, as part of his rehabilitation process. He said the rehab process is coming along well and that he hopes to return in a few weeks.

Huddle Up: Meanwhile, J.J. Watt and the 3-1 Texans are doing just fine but they could certainly use the top overall pick for tougher matchups ahead.

Updating a previous report, the Houston Texans fear LB Jadeveon Clowney (knee) suffered a meniscus tear in the Week 1 game against the Washington Redskins that could require arthroscopic surgery, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Clowney will likely miss at least a month. It's a blow to a Houston defense that looked much-improved in Week 1 against Washington. However, the Texans will still be a decent match-up play versus weaker offenses even without Clowney in the lineup.

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans DE Jadeveon Clowney (knee) underwent surgery for a torn lateral meniscus Monday, Sept. 8. He is expected to miss four to six weeks.

Huddle Up: It's a blow to Houston's defense but the Texans still have a juicy fantasy matchup this week against the Raiders that should reward owners with plenty of points.

  • Posted: 8/21/2014 3:41pm ET

Houston Texans DE Jadeveon Clowney was held out of practice Thursday, Aug. 21, because of an undisclosed injury. Head coach Bill O'Brien said Clowney is fine but is not sure if Clowney will play in the third preseason game.

Huddle Up: Sounds like purely a precautionary measure after the top overall pick sustained a head injury in Wednesday's joint workouts with the Broncos.

  • Posted: 7/8/2014 4:06pm ET

Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney said that sacking Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck is one of his goals this season. "My goal in the NFL is to sack Andrew Luck," Clowney said. "He's in my division. I'm playing him two times a year. He's a dangerous quarterback, very smart with the ball, he makes good decisions, so I just want to get after him and sack him one time."

Huddle Up: Aiming for 12 sacks would be a lofty but noteworthy accomplishment. After all, that's a figure attained by only 7 rookies -- last by Aldon Smith (14) in 2011 -- over the past 20 seasons.
