San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (knee) won't be fully cleared for full-team drills until training camp, in part, because the team doesn't want to risk having defenders around his legs. Garoppolo has done work in 7-on-7 drills.

Huddle Up: Jimmy G will be a midrange option at the position in fantasy with maybe a little upside.

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (knee) said he likely will wear a brace on his surgically repaired knee this upcoming season.

Huddle Up: Garoppolo is expected to be ready for training camp as long as he does not suffer any setbacks in his recovery. He has played well in the past and could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in some deeper leagues.

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (knee), coming off an ACL tear, should be cleared for full participation at the start of training camp, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Huddle Up: Garoppolo first full season in San Fran only lasted three starts, but given Kyle Shanahan's system and the QB's promising 2017 finish, Garoppolo has definite QB1 potential and is worth a late mid-round draft gamble.

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo is working to recover from the ACL tear that cut his 2018 season short, and his progress has impressed head coach Kyle Shanahan. 'He looks good, I'm not allowed to be working with him right now, but I was in the office a couple of days ago, I was stalking him while watching him out my window,' Shanahan said Friday, Feb. 1, during an interview with San Francisco radio station KNBR. 'He actually surprised me, he was running around, throwing, doing some stuff out of the pocket. I even had to call our trainer and ask 'should he be moving that much?' and he said he should be. It's cool to see.'

Huddle Up: By all continuing indications, Garoppolo's rehab progress appears to be ahead of schedule, and he'll be a solid QB1 sleeper candidate in drafts this summer.

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (knee) hopefully will be able to participate in organized team activities this offseason, according to general manager John Lynch. Lynch said Garoppolo has not had any setbacks during his rehab.

Huddle Up: Garoppolo probably will be limited this offseason but could be on the field for some workouts if things continue to go well in his recovery. He likely will be ready for the start of the 2019 season and could be a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (knee) was throwing passes to RB Jerick McKinnon (knee) recently, 49ers general manager John Lynch said Tuesday, Jan. 22, in an interview.

Huddle Up: All appears to be going well in the recovery of Garoppolo, who was injured in Week 3. There are sure to be plenty of updates upcoming throughout the offseason, but expect Garoppolo to be ready for training camp.

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (knee) may be able to participate in some offseason workouts in May and June, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Huddle Up: Garoppolo will have the entire offseason to recover from his torn anterior cruciate ligament and should be ready for the start of training camp. He has had some success since joining the 49ers and could be a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues in 2019.

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (knee) was recently able to walk without using crutches, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan, and Shanahan said the next step in Garoppolo's recovery will be clearance to travel with the team for road games.

Huddle Up: Garoppolo's rehab continues to go as planned, which is the best fantasy owners can hope for at this point. Keep him stashed in dynasty formats.

  • Posted: 10/7/2018 7:38am ET

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (knee) is expected to have a relatively obstacle-free rehab process following surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to a source. The ACL was the only thing that needed to be repaired even though additional minor damage was discovered in the knee.

Huddle Up: Garoppolo should be completely healthy by the start of the 2019 season and is worthy of being retained in keeper and dynasty fantasy formats.

  • Posted: 10/5/2018 6:20pm ET

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo's (knee) surgery went 'as good as it could've,' according to head coach Kyle Shanahan, and Shanahan is hopeful that Garoppolo can participate in OTAs in some capacity.

Huddle Up: As long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks along the way, Garoppolo should be ready for the start of next season. Despite the injury, he remains a valuable asset in dynasty formats.

  • Posted: 10/3/2018 9:31pm ET

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (knee) underwent surgery to repair his torn ACL on Wednesday, Oct. 3.

Huddle Up: Obviously Jimmy G is done for 2018, but he should be good to go once the 2019 campaign rolls around. He's worth retaining in all keeper leagues.

  • Posted: 9/24/2018 12:06pm ET

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (knee) has been diagnosed with a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the season.

Huddle Up: C.J. Beathard is expected to replace him in the lineup. It's a crushing blow for a team that was supposed to take a huge step forward in 2018. While Beathard proved to be capable of times last season, he is unlikely to be anything more than a low-end QB2 in fantasy moving forward, and his promotion is a downgrade for the entire offense.

Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (knee) might have suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs, head coach Kyle Shanahan said Sunday, Sept. 23. 'It doesn't look good,' one teammate said.

Huddle Up: Garoppolo will go for an MRI on Monday, so hopefully the news ends up better than the initial fears. His left knee buckled while running along the sidelines on a non-contact situation, trying to juke before he was touched by a defender. C.J. Beathard will take over if Garoppolo is indeed forced to the shelf.

  • Posted: 9/23/2018 1:36pm ET

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (knee) was carted off the field during the Week 3 game after he suffered knee injury.

Huddle Up: It appeared that Garoppolo suffered a non-contact injury, so he may be dealing with a serious injury. Owners should know more about his status in the next day or two. C.J. Beathard would take over the starting job if Garoppolo misses any time but is not a great fantasy option.

  • Posted: 9/9/2018 2:09pm ET

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo completed 15-of-33 passes for 261 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in the Week 1 loss against the Minnesota Vikings.

Huddle Up: Jimmy G didn't lose as a starter last season, so this was his first setback as an NFL starter. The yardage total was fine, but the inaccuracy and turnovers were a problem. One of his interceptions was a pick-six thanks to Mike Hughes. Garoppolo will look to rebound in the team's home opener in Week 2 against the Detroit Lions.

  • Posted: 8/18/2018 7:48pm ET

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo completed 10 of his 12 passes for 136 yards, a touchdown and an interception against the Houston Texans in the preseason Saturday, Aug. 18.

Huddle Up: With the hype that has built around Garoppolo, you are going to have to draft him as a QB1 if you want him on your fantasy team. He could very well live up to that hype, but he's not a proven commodity yet.
