San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner said RB Jackie Battle will get a chance to play in Week 16, and appeared to favor him over RB Curtis Brinkley.
Huddle Up: With Ryan Mathews out the Chargers will use a committee approach at the running back position. Battle has handled goal line work before, and it sounds like he'll be the lead dog in the Bolts' RBBC this week as well against the Jets.

San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner said he won't know who will start at running back between RBs Ryan Mathews and Jackie Battle until the first play of the game in Week 5 against the New Orleans Saints. 'It's not a big deal. One had 14 carries and one had 15 carries, and if we can get that done again, it'll be outstanding,' Turner said.
Huddle Up: The beat goes on for Mathews' fantasy owners who saw Battle start and score pair of TDs in last week's romp over the Chiefs. Mathews did salvage some fantasy points with some late-game work, but with the preseason injury, the first-game-back fumble and now the situation with Battle, it's becoming clear that Mathews isn't likely to be the workhorse back he was drafted to be in the early rounds.

Huddle Up: Battle will be a popular waiver wire pickup this week, and with the Saints generous run defense lined up for week 5 could pay dividends.

The San Diego Chargers have agreed to terms with free-agent RB Jackie Battle on a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: Battle will compete with Ronnie Brown for the right to back up Ryan Mathews--or, if you're not a believer in the Mathews hype, replace him once the inevitable injury hits.
