Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 20.

Huddle Up: It looks like Freeman will miss another game unless he is able to recover in the next few days. Tavon Coleman likely will continue to be the starting running back and can could be a No. 2 running back in some leagues because of the matchup.

  • Posted: 9/19/2018 2:32pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 19.

Huddle Up: It's not unexpected, as Freeman missed Week 2 and is listed as day to day. Circle back around later in the week for a better idea if he'll play Week 3 against the Saints or not. Tevin Coleman would again shoulder the bulk of the workload with Ito Smith as the backup if Freeman cannot go.

  • Posted: 9/17/2018 12:56pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) is considered day-to-day as he recovers from a knee contusion, according to head coach Dan Quinn. It was originally reported that Freeman would be sidelined for multiple games.

Huddle Up: It is likely that Freeman will still miss this week's contest, but the outlook is more positive coming from Quinn. Start Tevin Coleman as a low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 again in Week 3, but next week might be the time to shop Coleman if another owner is willing to pay a good price before Freeman returns. Coleman will remain in RB2 territory upon Freeman's return.

  • Posted: 9/15/2018 4:08pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) is expected to miss two to three games with a knee contusion, according to a source.

Huddle Up: It's great news for Tevin Coleman and those who roster him. He figures to be in the low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 conversation while Freeman sits, including this week. For those who have Freeman, picking up someone like T.J. Yeldon, Phillip Lindsay, Austin Ekeler or even Nyheim Hines could help ease the pain.

  • Posted: 9/14/2018 10:40am ET

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) on Friday, Sept. 14, was ruled out of Sunday's Week 2 game against the Carolina Panthers. Head coach Dan Quinn said there is nothing structurally wrong with Freeman's knee and hopes it is not a long-term injury.

Huddle Up: Tevin Coleman is now up as the main man in the Falcons' backfield and is a solid RB2 start Sunday. Rookie Ito Smith will be the No. 2 back but is not expected to see enough touches to be useful in the majority of leagues.

  • Posted: 9/14/2018 9:09am ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) is not expected to play in Week 2 against Carolina Panthers, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Huddle Up: The injury is not believed to be serious, but Freeman hasn't practiced since getting hurt last Thursday. Tevin Coleman will get the start and should see at least 15 to 20 touches, enough to make him an RB2 even in a difficult matchup. Rookie Ito Smith will serve as his backup, although he is unlikely to see enough work to be relevant in fantasy.

  • Posted: 9/13/2018 9:42am ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) will not practice Thursday, Sept. 13, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Huddle Up: Even with the extra few days off after the early Week 1 opener in Philly, Freeman's status remains iffy for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers. Freeman's absence would be a boon for Tevin Coleman's fantasy owners as the platoon back suddenly would find a low-end RB1 workload on his plate with RB Ito Smith also getting mixed in. Stay tuned, though, to see if Friday brings about any change in Freeman's status.

  • Posted: 9/12/2018 2:11pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 12.

Huddle Up: It's uncertain if Freeman is in danger of missing playing time, or if he was simply resting his knee to get him healthy for the weekend. If he were to be inactive or be on a snap count, Tevin Coleman would be the biggest beneficiary.

  • Posted: 9/12/2018 9:34am ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) is out of practice Wednesday, Sept. 12, due to soreness. However, head coach Dan Quinn said Freeman sounded like he was structurally OK.

Huddle Up: Freeman didn't look good before the injury, and he'll face the Carolina Panthers in Week 2. The Panthers held Ezekiel Elliott to a 15-69-1 line in their win over the Dallas Cowboys. Freeman might be a mid-RB2 this week.

  • Posted: 9/6/2018 10:22pm ET

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) told the NFL Network's Mike Garafolo that he was OK after the game Thursday, Sept. 6, despite not appearing on the team's final drive. Freeman's injury was not mentioned by head coach Dan Quinn in the post-game press conference.

Huddle Up: Now that it appears Freeman will be alright fantasy owners can get back to bemoaning his lack of opportunities against the Eagles. His next opportunity to produce will come on Sept. 16 against the Carolina Panthers; in two games vs. Carolina last year, Freeman averaged 86 total yards and scored once.

  • Posted: 9/6/2018 9:43pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) injured his knee in the fourth quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, Sept. 6. The severity of the injury is not yet known. On the night, Freeman carried the ball six times for 36 yards and added 14 yards on three receptions.

Huddle Up: While Freeman's debut was statistically disappointing, that would pale in comparison to a knee injury of any significance. The Falcons don't play again until Sept. 16, so this is something you'll want to keep an eye on, but for now you can simply lament his inability to score from inside the five early in the game. If Freeman were to miss time Tevin Coleman's value would go up markedly.

  • Posted: 6/10/2018 8:41pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman has been working with running backs coach Bernie Parmalee on 'getting skinny' when he finishes runs to help reduce the hits he takes and stay healthier over the course of the season.

Huddle Up: Freeman battled multiple injuries last year, but he still managed more than 1,000 yards from scrimmage and scored eight times. Those numbers should increase if he can stay on the field for 16 games, and Freeman remains a low-end RB1.

  • Posted: 5/2/2018 9:58am ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) is able to run and cut now in his rehab from ligament damage in his knee.

Huddle Up: Freeman remains a low-end RB1 in fantasy as long as he's healthy.

  • Posted: 3/30/2018 7:51pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) said his injured knee is 'definitely progressing on the up and up.'

Huddle Up: As long as Freeman doesn't suffer a setback, he should be ready to roll for the start of the season. Consider him a low-end RB1 candidate.

  • Posted: 2/3/2018 1:17pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) said he could be ready for the start of offseason workouts but wants to be completely healthy before he returns so he does not have to deal with the injury during the season.

Huddle Up: Freeman probably will participate in some offseason workouts and should be 100 percent for training camp. He likely will continue to see most of the work at running back and can be at least a No. 2 fantasy running back even with Tevin Coleman on the roster.

  • Posted: 1/18/2018 12:03pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) will not need surgery to repair his torn posterior cruciate ligament and sprained medial collateral ligament, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Huddle Up: Freeman could miss some offseason workouts but should be fine for the start of training camp. He will continue to be the No. 1 running back for the Falcons and should be a weekly starting option in all fantasy leagues in 2018.

  • Posted: 1/13/2018 7:25pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) said he played the end of the season with a sprained medial collateral ligament and a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, but he is hoping to avoid offseason surgery.

Huddle Up: Freeman should enter 2018 as the lead back for Atlanta, but with Tevin Coleman also in the mix, Freeman should be viewed as a high-end RB2.

  • Posted: 1/13/2018 4:56pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman caught five passes for 26 yards and one touchdown in the Divisional Round playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles Saturday, Jan. 13. He also rushed for seven yards on 10 carries during the game.

Huddle Up: Freeman finished the regular season with 865 yards and seven touchdowns this season and likely will remain the team's starting running back in 2018. He also has value in point-per-reception leagues since he recorded 36 catches and 317 receiving yards. He can be at least a No. 2 running back for fantasy owners next season.

  • Posted: 1/11/2018 11:05am ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) had a limited status in practice Thursday, Jan. 11, but is not on the injury report for the Divisional Round playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Huddle Up: Freeman should be fine for this weekend's playoff tilt. While he didn't succeed on the ground last week, he flourished in the passing game, giving him more value on DraftKings this weekend.

  • Posted: 1/10/2018 2:08pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Jan. 10.

Huddle Up: Freeman does not appear to be in any danger of missing the playoff game and should receive his normal workload. He is coming off a solid performance in the Wild Card round and can be a No. 1 fantasy running back in most leagues.

  • Posted: 1/9/2018 3:16pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) was limited in practice Tuesday, Jan. 9.

Huddle Up: Freeman's ceiling will always be stinted as long as Tevin Coleman is healthy, but he has proven to be successful nonetheless. The versatile back made up for his paltry 11 carries last week with nine catches for 85 yards. Looking ahead, Freeman is a justifiable second-round fantasy selection with added value in PPR leagues.

  • Posted: 1/6/2018 8:45pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman rushed 18 times for 66 yards and a touchdown and caught one pass for three yards in a 26-13 win over the Los Angeles Rams Saturday, Jan. 6.

Huddle Up: Freeman didn't have a ton of running room in this one, but the final stat line looks solid thanks to the touchdown. As long as the Falcons remain alive in the playoffs, Freeman will remain one of the stronger fantasy backs.

  • Posted: 1/4/2018 3:30pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) was a limited participant in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Jan. 4. However, the team declared he'll be all systems go for the team's playoff game Saturday, Jan. 6, against the Los Angeles Rams.

Huddle Up: Freeman never really appeared to be in doubt for Atlanta's Wild Card action, but his performance to close out the year might make you think twice about utilizing his services in fantasy this weekend. While the 25-year-old was heavily involved in the passing game in Week 17, he amassed just 59 rushing yards on 22 carries over his final two contests. At the same time, he figures to still be a solid option, as the Rams ranked 28th versus the run this season.

  • Posted: 1/3/2018 1:27pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) was a limited practice participant Wdnesday, Jan. 3.

Huddle Up: The Los Angeles Rams were horrendous against the run this year, so both Freeman and Tevin Coleman have a prime opportunity to help the Falcons upset the Rams. Expect Freeman to be active, but if he's not 100% then Atlanta could limit his snaps.

  • Posted: 1/2/2018 1:30pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) did not practice Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Huddle Up: Freeman needs to rest up in order to be ready for Atlanta's playoff bout this weekend. The star running back has one less day to recover since the Falcons play on Saturday. It's hard to imagine Freeman missing out on a playoff game, though. As for next year, Freeman still has RB1 appeal with more value in PPR leagues.

  • Posted: 12/24/2017 6:14pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman rushed 11 times for 36 yards and caught two passes for 20 yards in a 23-13 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 16. He also lost a fumble.

Huddle Up: Freeman picked a bad time to have one of his least productive games of the season, and he has also fumbled four times in the last three games. With Tevin Coleman back in action, Freeman will be a RB2 against the Carolina Panthers in Week 17.

  • Posted: 12/18/2017 9:16pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman collected 126 rushing yards and a touchdown on 22 attempts in the team's Week 15 triumph Monday, Dec. 18, opposite the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also hauled in five of seven targets in the passing game for 68 yards.

Huddle Up: Freeman saved his best performance for the most important fantasy week of the year up to this point, as both his rushing and receiving totals represented season highs for the four-year veteran. Freeman is a legitimate RB1, so an output like this shouldn't be surprising at all. However, his owners have to be thrilled he came through when it counted most.

  • Posted: 12/7/2017 8:52pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman rushed 24 times for 91 yards and a touchdown in a 20-17 win over the New Orleans Saints Thursday, Dec. 7.

Huddle Up: Freeman has resumed his role as the lead back in Atlanta, and he should at least be a low-end RB1 moving forward.

  • Posted: 12/3/2017 1:45pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman rushed for 74 yards on 12 carries against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 13.

Huddle Up: Freeman returned from his concussion and received a majority of the carries against the Vikings. He should remain the leading rusher for the Falcons and can be a No. 2 fantasy running back next week.

  • Posted: 12/1/2017 12:21pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (concussion) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 1, and is not on the injury report for Week 13.

Huddle Up: Freeman probably will share playing time with Tevin Coleman this week against the Minnesota Vikings. He has gone five games without a touchdown but should receive a decent amount of touches during the game. He can be a No. 2 running back or a flex option in most leagues.

  • Posted: 11/30/2017 3:59pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (concussion) was a full participant in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Nov. 30.

Huddle Up: Head coach Dan Quinn has already said that Freeman won't be limited when he suits up, so that's good news as it pertains to his outlook for Week 13. Although he draws a tough defense in his return from a two-game absence, Freeman is still worth plugging in as an RB1 regardless.

  • Posted: 11/30/2017 9:48am ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman won't be limited in Week 13 as he returns from a concussion, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Huddle Up: He has a tough matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, but Freeman at full strength is an RB1 in fantasy.

  • Posted: 11/29/2017 3:01pm ET

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (concussion) returned to practice Wednesday, Nov. 29, and was a full participant.

Huddle Up: Freeman cleared the league's mandated concussion protocol earlier Wednesday and it's a good sign he was not even listed as a limited participant. It appears he'll be ready to play Sunday against the Vikings, back in a timeshare with Tevin Coleman, who did a great job in Freeman's stead.

  • Posted: 11/29/2017 6:05am ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (concussion) has cleared the concussion protocol and will return to practice Wednesday, Nov. 29, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Huddle Up: Freeman appears poised to return this week, but he'll have a tough matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. He still has to be considered one of the top 12 backs this week as an RB1.

  • Posted: 11/28/2017 9:26pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (concussion) remains in the NFL's concussion protocol as of Tuesday, Nov. 28.

Huddle Up: It's been 16 days since the injury, which seems like ample time to recover, but until the NFL gives Freeman the green light it's Tevin Coleman's job. Keep an eye out for updates as we get closer to game day.

  • Posted: 11/24/2017 10:06am ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 12 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Huddle Up: Considering the fact he suffered his second concussion in four months in Week 10, it is hardly surprising the Falcons are holding him out at least two weeks, even though he logged two limited practices this week. In his absence, Tevin Coleman should be considered a high-end RB2 and a worthy fantasy starter in most leagues.

  • Posted: 11/24/2017 8:44am ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (concussion) remains in a non-contact jersey Friday, Nov. 24, and seems unlikely to play in Week 12, according to beat writer Vaughn McClure.

Huddle Up: No surprise here, and Tevin Coleman remains an RB1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

  • Posted: 11/23/2017 8:44am ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (concussion) will be a limited participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 23, but he remains in the concussion protocol.

Huddle Up: It's a stretch to think he'll clear the rest of the phases of the protocol and be in a position to have a large role in the game Sunday. Tevin Coleman is a great RB1 option this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

  • Posted: 11/22/2017 3:15pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (concussion) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Huddle Up: Freeman is still going through the concussion protocol and needs to be cleared to be cleared before he is allowed to play. Owners should check on his status later in the week to see if he has a chance to play in Week 12. Owners should have other options available in case Freeman sits again.

  • Posted: 11/22/2017 5:26am ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (concussion) remains in the concussion protocol Wednesday, Nov. 22. Freeman, according to a source close to him, feels ready to play, but he has to go through the entire process.

Huddle Up: He looks iffy to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week. Tevin Coleman struggled with the lead role last week, but he remains an attractive RB1 if Freeman is out.

  • Posted: 11/18/2017 3:04pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (concussion) has been ruled out of the team's Week 11 game.

Huddle Up: Tevin Coleman should receive most of the playing time at running back against the Seattle Seahawks. He can be considered a No. 2 running back or a flex option in all leagues.

  • Posted: 11/17/2017 2:13pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (concussion) did not practice Friday, Nov. 17.

Huddle Up: Freeman was absent from practice both Thursday and Friday putting his status in serious doubt for Monday's game in Seattle. If he is ruled out it would be Tevin Coleman handling the workload, with Terron Ward also chipping in.

  • Posted: 11/16/2017 9:19am ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (concussion) won't practice Thursday, Nov. 16.

Huddle Up: Freeman is likely out this week, and Tevin Coleman has RB1 written all over him against the Seattle Seahawks.

  • Posted: 11/13/2017 11:13am ET

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (concussion) is in the concussion protocol, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Freeman has not been ruled out for Week 11, however, contrary to previous reports. Freeman suffered a concussion in the preseason. He injured his knee against the Carolina Panthers.

Huddle Up: Tevin Coleman has the potential to be featured next week, but we'll need to keep tabs on Freeman's status throughout the week. The good news is that Freeman has an extra day to recover since the Falcons play next Monday night. If Freeman does miss the game then Coleman has RB1 upside even in a tough matchup versus the Seattle Seahawks.

  • Posted: 11/13/2017 8:14am ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (concussion) is unlikely to play in Week 11 after suffering his second concussion of the season. It's possible he could miss multiple games.

Huddle Up: Tevin Coleman becomes an RB1 against the Seattle Seahawks next week. Terron Ward could also be a sneaky flex play.

  • Posted: 11/12/2017 8:49pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman rushed 20 times for 83 yards and a touchdown in Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys, filling in nicely once RB Devonta Freeman (concussion) left in the first half.

Huddle Up: Coleman would be the bellcow in Week 11 on Monday Night Football in Seattle if Freeman isn't clear to play, but the good news is that he gets an extra day to make it through the league's protocol. Coleman would be a solid RB2 if Freeman is inactive.

  • Posted: 11/10/2017 2:30pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) practiced in full for a second straight day on Friday, Nov. 10, and he has been removed from the injury report.

Huddle Up: Freeman has been on the injury report for several weeks but he has yet to miss any game time. He remains a solid fantasy option against the league's No. 13 ranked rush defense of the Cowboys.

  • Posted: 11/9/2017 9:41am ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 9.

Huddle Up: Freeman hasn't reached the end zone in four straight games. His odds don't look good this week against a Dallas Cowboys team that is tough against the position. Freeman is in the RB1/RB2 turn this week.

  • Posted: 11/8/2017 3:50pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) was listed as a limited participant for practice Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Huddle Up: Freeman has been limited in practice due to an assortment of ailments lately, but he hasn't missed any game time. Double check on Friday to make sure he is playing, but he is likely just taking it easy to preserve himself for game day.

  • Posted: 11/5/2017 2:13pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman rushed 11 times for 46 yards in Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers and he had four grabs for 18 yards on his five targets.

Huddle Up: You knew it would be a grind for Freeman, as he was up against the league's No. 4 rushing defense entering play. He faces another marquee matchup in Week 10 when the Cowboys come calling.
