Huddle Up: It sounds like Mendenhall, whose best years were back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2009-10, may be done at 26 years old. He gained 821 yards from scrimmage and scored 8 TDs this past season on a 1-year deal in Arizona.

Huddle Up: Mendenhall, who has played 6 pro seasons, rushed for only 687 yards and averaged 3.2 yards per attempt this past season but did find the end zone 8 times -- 11th among all RBs. It appears, though, the Cards are prepared to move on, and if Mendenhall does suit up again, it likely will be in a new uniform in a No. 2 role.

Huddle Up: Get the Cards' leading rusher in your lineup if you need him as he's found the end zone in 4 of his last 6 games.

Huddle Up: In case you were worried that the Cardinals might opt to give the more talented Andre Ellington the starting gig, fear not: Mendenhall will continue to get his carries.

Huddle Up: Mendenhall will get the start but Andre Ellington is still expected to get 15-20 touches and is the preferred fantasy play. Mendenhall is only worth flex consideration in the deepest leagues.

Huddle Up: Mendenhall is expected to play with Arizona coming off its bye week. However, Andre Ellington is now getting 15-20 touches a game, so the struggling Mendenhall is only worth flex consideration in the deepest of leagues.

Huddle Up: Mendenhall missed the Week 8 game against the Falcons and also had the bye week to recover. His return obviously would cut into the touches rookie Andre Ellington would receive.

Huddle Up: The Cardinals don't view Ellington as an every-down back but he'll still get enough touches to be a solid flex play this week against Atlanta.

Huddle Up: This would be the first game missed by Mendenhall this season and could be the moment Ellington and his fantasy backers have been waiting for.

Huddle Up: An interesting development in Arizona. Does this mean Andre Ellington will get more opportunities going forward? Or was this simply coachspeak as a motivational ploy for Mendenhall?
Posted: 9/27/2013 10:08pm ET
Huddle Up: Mendenhall created some fantasy buzz with 94 total yards and a TD in Week 2, but he struggled with 41 yards and no scores on 10 touches this past Sunday in New Orleans. However, the Cards' offense struggled as a whole, producing only 7 points, so don't give up on Mendenhall just yet, especially with the dearth of quality fantasy options at the position.

Huddle Up: Mendenhall took a solid step Thursday after he was a limited participant in Wednesday's workouts and is looking good for Week 4.
Posted: 9/20/2013 7:39pm ET
Huddle Up: Mendenhall is expected to start but he's no more than a low-end flex play this week. We should should see more of Andre Ellington on Sunday with Mendenhall banged up.
Posted: 9/19/2013 11:40pm ET
Huddle Up: Rookie Andre Ellington is moving closer to his first NFL start as it's been 2 missed practices in 2 days for Mendenhall. See how it shakes out, though, in the always-crucial Friday practice.

Huddle Up: This is now Mendenhall's third injury since late August. While none of them have cost him to miss any games, it's not a great sign that every week Mendenhall shows up with a new injury. It's time to get Andre Ellington as insurance if he's still available in your league.

Huddle Up: Mendenhall is in line to start Sunday against the Lions. However, after dealing with a knee issue he's now battling a sore hamstring. For a guy with durability concerns, it's a minor problem that we're already worried about Mendenhall's health. He's nothing more than a flex play against Detroit this week.

Huddle Up: Mendenhall will get the start on Sunday but he's going up against a formidable Rams' front seven. Alfonso Smith and Stepfan Taylor are also expected to see some touches as well, making Mendenhall a flex play at best in Week 1.

Huddle Up: Mendenhall has battled knee issues this preseason, but he is expected to be available for the Cardinals' regular season opener this weekend.
Posted: 9/2/2013 5:16pm ET
Huddle Up: Yeah, and we want a toilet seat made out of solid gold, but that's just not in the cards now, is it? Mendenhall might be fine for Week 1, but let's not kid ourselves here: the Arizona running back situation isn't the best.
Posted: 8/27/2013 12:27pm ET
Huddle Up: Whew! We were wondering where the Cardinals would be able to find three yards a carry, and now it looks like Mendenhall will answer the bell and deliver for them.
Posted: 8/26/2013 12:56am ET
Huddle Up: It was best of news on the injury front for the RB, but doubt is going to linger over Mendenhall until he shows he can handle a No. 1 role over an extended period without issue. So, in no uncertain terms, try not to rely too much on the back unless you absolutely have to.

Huddle Up: Just when the free-agent acquisition was gaining some fantasy traction in the desert, another knee issue has cropped up for Mendenhall, who limited to 6 games last season after recovering from a 2011-ending ACL tear.
