San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal has been working as the team's top slot option during offseason workouts.
Huddle Up: Maybe a new coach and new offensive system will rejuvenate Royal, who was a disappointment in his first year with San Diego with only 23 catches for 234 yards and 1 TD.

San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal (hamstring) and LB Larry English (calf) both did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 23, and have been ruled out for Week 12.
Huddle Up: The high expectations of the preseason quickly have dissolved into disappointment as Royal only has 3 catches for 36 yards since Week 6.

San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 31, and is doubtful for the team's Week 9 game.
Huddle Up: With fellow wideout Robert Meachem also dealing with hamstring issues, recently-signed wideouts Danario Alexander and Seyi Ajirotutu could be pressed into action Thursday night against the Chiefs.

San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal (hamstring) did not participate in practice Tuesday, Oct. 30.
Huddle Up: It's going to be tough for Royal to get ready with the Chargers' short week/Thursday game after sitting out Week 8, but he's not going to be missed fantasy-wise with only 13 catches 98 yards and a TD in 6 games to date.

San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal (groin) is expected to miss one to two weeks
because of a groin injury. He likely will miss the first preseason game because of
the injury.
Huddle Up: This isn't the foot Royal wanted to start on with his new team. Signed along with
ex-Saint Robert Meachem, the former Bronco is being counted to help fill the void
left by the departure of Vincent Jackson. Royal has drawn praise this offseason,
and he and the Chargers have to hope this is something that doesn't linger and
hinder any more of his progress bonding with his new QB, Philip Rivers. Provided
he can get back on the field soon, Royal could be a decent sleeper selection in
fantasy drafts.

San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner said Friday, June 22, that WR Eddie Royal has tremendous speed, and he likened him to great NFL receivers of the past. "He's a real smooth receiver," Turner said. "He reminds me of Charlie Joiner, and reminds me of Henry Ellard, guys that I've been around. He's very deceptive. And sometimes he doesn't look like he's going that fast, and he's hauling."
Huddle Up: Royal will at minimum grab a primary spot in the Chargers' receiver rotation; it remains to be seen if he can push aside Robert Meachem or Malcom Floyd for a starting gig or if he'll battle Vincent Brown for looks as San Diego's third or fourth receiver. Turner and Philip Rivers seem to like him, which should provide opportunities for production regardless of where he lists on the official depth chart.
