San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal (toe) is expected to play in the team's Wild Card game Sunday, Jan. 5.

Huddle Up: As expected, Royal is active once again after sitting out practice all week.

San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal (toe) did not participate in practice Thursday, Jan. 2.

Huddle Up: It's the same deal as we've seen the last month or so with Royal: No or limited practice during the week but still a full participant on game days.

San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal (toe) did not practice Friday, Dec. 20, but is still expected to play in Week 16.

Huddle Up: Royal is no more than a WR4/WR5 in deeper leagues despite the good matchup with the Raiders. Royal just hasn't been consistent enough this year unless he finds the end zone.

San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal (toe) was limited in practice Tuesday, Dec. 10.

Huddle Up: Royal continues to be limited in practice but play in most games, missing only the Week 13 contest against the Bengals so far. He's cooled off considerably, though, following a hot start as rookie Keenan Allen has firmly established himself as the Bolts' No. 1 wideout.

San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal (toe, chest) was downgraded to doubtful for Week 13.

Huddle Up: Royal is likely out Sunday meaning Keenan Allen will be a target monster against Cincinnati. Second-year tight end LaDarius Green will also be in line for an increase in targets after two strong games and Antonio Gates dealing with a hamstring injury.

San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal (toe) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Huddle Up: Royal's toe has been giving him problems for a month now, resulting in several missed practices, but he's still been playing has been fairly productive until last week's 2-36 outing against the Broncos. In the meantime, he's been replaced by rookie Keenan Allen as the Bolts' top WR, so adjust your expectations accordingly.

San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal (toe) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Huddle Up: This is definitely concerning given that Royal now has missed 2 straight days of practice coming off a bye week. See if he can get in some work Friday.

San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal (toe) did not practice for a third straight day Friday, Oct. 18. He is officially listed as questionable for the Week 7 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Huddle Up: Royal is shaping up to be a gametime decision. It looks like another target-heavy game this week for rookie Keenan Allen, who should be counted on as a WR3/flex play against Jacksonville.

San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal (toe) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 17, and is in a protective boot after being injured in the team's Week 6 game Monday, Oct. 14.

Huddle Up: Royal is in real danger of missing the Bolts' Week 7 contest in Jacksonville unless he shows some rapid improvement over the next few days. If he does sit out, look for extra work for WR Keenan Allen and RB Danny Woodhead out of the backfield.

San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal posted just two receptions for 34 yards in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans, and he was targeted just two times.

Huddle Up: This wasn't unexpected. He did have a touchdown that was called back on an offensive pass interference, but Royal wasn't going to keep up that torrid pace.

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers is much more comfortable in head coach Mike McCoy's and offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt's offense this year, an offense similar to what he ran in college that involved shorter passes and fewer drop backs. The team is hurrying up their offense at times and going with a no huddle, and it gives Rivers the freedom to change plays at the line of scrimmage as he sees fit. The 539 yards of total offense for San Diego in Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles was their most since 1985. 'Philip Rivers just seemed to know everything we were throwing at him,' Eagles CB Cary Williams told reporters after the game. 'He was calling things out. He caught us in bad situations. Used those matchups against us and was able to capitalize. He kind of recognized what we were doing to a degree. We weren't able to disguise the way we wanted to. He just found the matchups. Philip Rivers is a great quarterback.'

Huddle Up: Rivers has been on downward fantasy spiral over recent seasons, but the early returns -- and his current 4th-place ranking among fantasy QBs -- are signaling a bounce-back season might be at hand. Grab him off waivers if he's somehow still available in your league.

San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal recorded his first-career multi-score game in Week 1 against the Houston Texans on Monday, Sept. 9.

Huddle Up: Royal, who's in his second season in San Diego, was targeted a team-high six times as Philip Rivers spread the ball around but finished with only 3 catches for 24 yards. He's interesting due to the lack of a clear-cut No. 1 pass-catcher in S.D., but that also means it's going to be hard to count on him week to week.
