New York Giants RB Andre Williams could overtake RB Rashad Jennings as the lead back sometime this season, maybe even to open the season. Williams has worked on his receiving game this offseason and studied Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's patience with the ball.

Huddle Up: The raw numbers (5 rushes-11 yards, 1 catch-16 yards) say the second-year Williams isn't exactly tearing it up this preseason, but it sounds like he's showing some definite strides in practice. Something to definitely keep an eye on as Williams is currently the 49th RB being drafted, on average, while Jennings is 24th and Shane Vereen is 39th.

New York Giants RB Andre Williams rushed for a season-high 131 yards in Week 14 against the Tennessee Titans, including a 50-yard touchdown scamper.

Huddle Up: Rashad Jennings was active but lightly used as the Giants rolled, so Williams saw plenty of work against the softest run D in the league--and paid dividends to fantasy owners who took a chance on him.

New York Giants RB Andre Williams has the confidence of head coach Tom Coughlin and the rest of the coaching staff that he can take on a bigger workload with RB Rashad Jennings (knee) injured. 'I am very confident (in Williams taking a bigger role),' Coughlin said. 'The other thing that he did that was great was the third-and-seven first-down run. A lot of that was on his own outside the flank of our blockers. He was able to pick up that first down. That was really indicative of people trying to tackle the ball and get the ball out, and he made that play. When you have a young guy, you really get into great, great detail even more about pass protection. He has done a good job when he has been in there. He is going to have to do even better.'

Huddle Up: As a No. 2 back, the fourth-round pick and 2,177-yard rusher at Boston College last season, has rushed for 170 yards and 2 TDs on 54 carries and has even caught 4 passes for 25 yards so far. 131 of his 170 yards and both of his TDs have come over the last 2 games, and now he'll be the lead back for the new next few weeks on one of the league's most rapidly improving offenses. In other words, the rookie is definitely a must-add if he's somehow still available in your league.
