The Minnesota Vikings re-signed WR Jerome Simpson to an undisclosed deal.

Huddle Up: Simpson was disappointing in his first year as a Vikings, but he'll get another opportunity to be the deep threat Minnesota requires to loosen up defenses and create running room for Adrian Peterson.

The Minnesota Vikings could consider re-signing impending free-agent WR Jerome Simpson if they are able to sign him to an inexpensive contract.

Huddle Up: It would have to be a low-dollar, incentive-laden deal after health issues and poor play in general limited Simpson to 26 grabs for 274 yards and no TDs in 2012 -- a season in which he was supposed to provide the Vikes with a deep threat.

Minnesota Vikings WR Jerome Simpson (undisclosed) suffered an undisclosed injury in the fourth quarter of the NFC Wild Card game against the Green Bay Packers Saturday, Jan. 5.

Huddle Up: With the Vikings' passing game struggling as a whole without starting QB Christian Ponder, Simpson finished with 2 catches for 21 yards Saturday. Still, Simpson's disappointment wasn't limited to Saturday as he had only 26 receptions for 274 yards and no scores during 12 regular-season contests and his future in the Twin Cities is murky at best.

The Minnesota Vikings are likely to part with WR Jerome Simpson after this season.

Huddle Up: Simpson has been a complete fantasy non-factor with no TDs and no more than 4 catches or 50 receiving yards in any game this season. He's even had ample opportunity with fellow WR Percy Harvin's season ending in Week 9 but has continued to do nothing.

Minnesota Vikings WR Jerome Simpson (calf) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 9, and is probable for the team's Week 10 game.

Huddle Up: This could be the week Simpson finally gets it going from a fantasy perspective. He has not done much this season except draw some pass interference calls, but Percy Harvin's likely absence opens the door for him to do some work on offense.

Minnesota Vikings WR Jerome Simpson (calf) practiced in full Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Huddle Up: Sidelined by suspension and injury earlier in the season, Simpson hasn't found the going much better of late, either, as he's struggled along with QB Christian Ponder and the rest of the Vikings' passing game, catching only 4 passes for 59 yards over the past 3 games. However, Simpson's targets could see a significant bump in Week 10 if an ankle injury keeps No. 1 wideout Percy Harvin out this Sunday.

Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said Friday, Oct. 19, that WR Jerome Simpson will start in Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals. Simpson has been dealing with a mysterious back injury, which also caused numbness in his legs.

Huddle Up: Between his 3-game, season-opening disciplinary suspension and the injury, Simpson has been limited to 2 games and 4 catches for 50 yards. With his speed, he'll provide the Vikings with a legit deep threat, but it remains a feeling-out process due to his limited snaps so far.

Posted: 10/17/2012 5:59pm et

Minnesota Vikings WR Jerome Simpson (back) said he will play in Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals after being deactivated in Week 6. Simpson has a clause in his contract that states he won't be paid for any game that he's not on the active roster for, meaning he missed out on nearly $60,000 last week. Simpson said his leg numbness and weakness isn't a recurring problem.

Huddle Up: He has promise in that Vikings offense, but not if he is not healthy. It seems like it could be a while before he really gets going. If this injury lingers, he may never really make a fantasy splash.

Updating a previous item, Minnesota Vikings WR Jerome Simpson (back, leg) said he's feeling fine and was upset about the decision that head coach Leslie Frazier made in not activating him for the team's Week 6 game. Simpson was told he'd be a game-time decision last week, but he wasn't activated despite saying he felt completely fine. However, the team is not saying if Simpson will play in Week 7.

Huddle Up: The Vikings have hardly gotten to know Simpson, who's only been active for two games. As a result, his fantasy value is negligible aside from the deepest of leagues.

Minnesota Vikings WR Jerome Simpson (back, foot) is likely to be a game-time decision for the Week 6 game against the Washington Redskins. Officially, he is listed as questionable after having tests this week for back and foot injuries that mysteriously popped up last week.

Huddle Up: Simpson has only played in 2 games this season after sitting out the first 3 contests due to a league disciplinary suspension. The Vikings can use his downfield speed but also have showed they can get by with the likes of WR Percy Harvin and TE Kyle Rudolph serving as the top targets.

Minnesota Vikings WR Jerome Simpson (back, foot) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 12, and is listed as questionable for Week 6.

Huddle Up: This is a positive for Simpson, who looked like he could miss some time after injuries last week. It would be dangerous to count on him this weekend, but it is good to know he will be back soon.

Posted: 10/10/2012 12:18am et

The Minnesota Vikings plan to determine their course of action with WR Jerome Simpson (leg) Wednesday, Oct. 10, after running tests the past two days, according to league sources. It is believed Simpson might have an issue with a disc that is causing weakness and numbness in one of his legs. The extent of the injury, and how Simpson and the team treat the issue, is unknown. If he requires microdiscetomy surgery, he would miss about six weeks, sidelining him through the team's bye in Week 11.

Huddle Up: Just when we were starting to get to know Simpson and his fantasy potential with the surprising Vikings, this issue cropped up in Week 5. After serving a 3-game league disciplinary suspension to start the season, Simpson debuted in purple with 4 catches for 50 yards in Week 4. He had no catches on 3 targets this past Sunday when he was experiencing leg numbness. Now it looks like he could be shelved for another month and a half.

Posted: 10/8/2012 7:36pm et

Minnesota Vikings WR Jerome Simpson (leg, back) is scheduled to undergo an MRI because he is experiencing lower leg weakness. The weakness could be related to a back injury.

Huddle Up: Simpson just can't seem to get on the field. Those holding might be well advised to look elsewhere at this point.

Posted: 9/30/2012 9:47pm et

Minnesota Vikings WR Jerome Simpson made his season debut after an NFL- imposed three-game suspension. He hauled in four receptions for a team-high 50 yards in the Week 4 win against the Detroit Lions.

Huddle Up: The Vikes didn't waste any time getting Simpson involved in the game plan, targeting him 5 times -- second on the team to only Percy Harvin's 6 targets. With Harvin and TE Kyle Rudolph working underneath, look for Simpson to be Minnesota's downfield threat going forward.

Posted: 7/17/2012 12:59am et

Outside of Minnesota Vikings WR Percy Harvin, no other receiver topped 40 catches or 500 yards in 2012. The team added the speedy WR Jerome Simpson in the offseason and offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave is very excited about his addition, especially because of his speed on the outside. He also said there is a nice rapport building between Simpson and QB Christian Ponder. 'I think they sense we're going to give both of them a chance to make a ton of plays,' Musgrave said.

Huddle Up: Everyone 'builds a rapport' in offseason workouts, even the trainer and the towel boy. That said, Simpson is loaded with raw, untapped talent and he can blow by defenders. He'll have to unveil his rapport with Ponder in Week 4, however, because he's suspended for the first three games.

Posted: 6/12/2012 2:28am et

The NFL has announced Minnesota Vikings WR Jerome Simpson has officially been suspended for the first three games of the 2012 season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Simpson has also been fined an additional game check. He is eligible to participate in training camp and preseason games.

Huddle Up: Simpson has been dropping jaws during the Vikings' OTAs, and he'll be able to practice with the team right up through the preseason before taking a three-game vacation. Certainly missing a third of the fantasy regular season takes a bite, but expect Simpson to make an impact with the Minnesota offense as soon as he returns to action.
