Washington Redskins impending free-agent TE Fred Davis was arrested Thursday, Feb. 20, and has been charged with driving under the influence.

Huddle Up: Already facing an indefinite suspension for the league, Davis has opted to take the burning rubble that is his NFL career and douse it with gasoline. Or, in this case, perhaps vodka. Either way, a DUI on his permanent record won't exactly be a selling point when Davis applies for reinstatement.

Washington Redskins impending free-agent TE Fred Davis has been suspended indefinitely for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Huddle Up: An indefinite suspension isn't going to help Davis land a gig in free agency. Davis has blamed the latest positive test on a supplement he didn't know ran afoul of the league's banned substance list, but we'll let the league determine all the particulars when he applies for reinstatement. Meanwhile, go ahead and remove Davis from your dynasty rankings.

Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis, a pending free agent, is facing a six-game drug suspension, according to a league source. He has previously served a suspension for marijuana use.

Huddle Up: That's not exactly the way to land a big free agent deal. Davis has significant fantasy value if and when he's on the field, but right now we don't know when or where that will be happening.

Posted: 11/26/2013 11:38pm et

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said Tuesday, Nov. 26, that he does not discuss discipline concerning a player. However, a report from NBC Washington surfaced that TE Fred Davis missed team meetings during the week leading up to the Week 12 game against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, Nov. 25. Davis played sparingly, on the field for the final drive. He was not targeted once. TE Logan Paulsen was the team's top tight end, with TE Niles Paul playing a hybrid fullback/tight end role with FB Darrel Young (hamstring) inactive.

Huddle Up: Any way you slice it, it's been a lost season for Davis, who has all of 3 catches for 25 yards and none since Week 2. The TE has been a healthy scratch in many games, and there's obviously some serious friction between the TE and the Shanahan regime. A change of scenery is in order, and that could come to fruition with both Davis and the coaching staff come the offseason.

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis said in a radio interview Tuesday, Oct. 22, that he hasn't asked for a trade, but indicated he would not necessarily mind one either if it gave him a better chance to receive playing time. 'At the end of day, I look at it as I'm a Redskin right now until I hear differently,' Davis said. 'I want to help my team any way I can until then.'

Huddle Up: With only 3 catches for 25 yards in 4 games this season, Davis has rapidly fallen out of favor in D.C. and tumbled far off the fantasy map -- not coincidentally corresponding with the rise of Jordan Reed -- and it's hard to envision the situation changing, barring an injury to Reed.

Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis (ankle) did not play a lot in Week 4 because he is still dealing with ankle soreness. Davis did not practice leading up to the team's Week 4 game.

Huddle Up: Davis, who appeared on more than a few preseason sleeper lists, has 3 receptions for 25 yards in 2 games so far while dealing with the troublesome ankle. Amd with Jordan Reed and Logan Paulsen now having stepped up in his stead, Davis is going to find it hard to regain his fantasy footing.

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis said his injured ankle is still sore. Davis has been limited during practice the last two days.

Huddle Up: Davis has yet to do much of anything this season, while Jordan Reed and Logan Paulsen handle tight end duties for the Redskins. With Davis still hobbled, that situation seems unlikely to change.

Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis (ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

Huddle Up: Davis, who's still experiencing soreness and was limited for the second straight practice after missing the Week 3 contest, has been a fantasy non-factor so far with only 3 catches for 25 yards. In the meantime, TEs Jordan Reed (13-106-1) and Logan Paulsen (6-64) have stepped up their games in D.C., leaving Davis in catch-up mode.

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis tested his sprained ankle before the Week 3 game against the Detroit Lions, but he moved gingerly even when walking and was declared inactive.

Huddle Up: Between Davis' injury issues and the play of Jordan Reed, Fred has fallen to the back burner of both the Redskins' passing game pecking order and the tight end fantasy rankings.

Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis was benched in Week 2 because of several missed assignments. TE Jordan Reed entered the game and caught a touchdown pass. Reed played 29 snaps, which was the most of all the tight ends.

Huddle Up: Davis has not exactly picked up where he left off prior to suffering an Achilles' tendon injury last season; Reed has outplayed and outperformed him, and right now appears to be the better fantasy play as well.

Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis has flashed great speed and burned safeties on two separate impressive catches in camp. He said he feels great and has no soreness.

Huddle Up: Davis is working his way back from an Achilles' tendon injury that prematurely ended his 2012 season. That he looks to be close to game speed is encouraging, as Davis is a dynamic target for Robert Griffin III and could be the second-best pass catcher on the Washington roster.
