The Pittsburgh Steelers have placed WR Limas Sweed (Achilles') on Injured Reserve after he cleared waivers, reports Aaron Wilson, of NationalFootballPost.com. Sweed will miss the 2010 season.
Huddle Up: Sweed was draft last year by the Steelers to battle for a starting job so this injury is definitely a setback for a Pittsburgh offense looking for an identity this year. FAntasy owners in Dynasty and Keeper leagues should view Sweed with only minimal value at this point since he will not see action until 2011 at the earliest.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Limas Sweed underwent surgery on his Achilles' tendon injury Monday, May 3, reports Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The team confirmed the surgery but would not say what the specific injury Sweed suffered.
Huddle Up: Reports indicate that the Achilles' tendon was either torn or ruptured; in either case, Sweed would likely miss the entire 2010 season.

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said WR Limas Sweed left practice Sunday, May 2, with a potentially major Achilles' tendon injury, according to SIRIUS NFL Radio.
Huddle Up: Sweed has had very little on-field impact since being the Steelers' second-round choice a couple years back. An Achilles' tendon injury would likely cost him the entire 2010 season.

Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Steelers WR Limas Sweed returned to the practice field Monday, April 19, after spending time on Injured Reserve last season for issues not related to an injury. "I am excited to be back on the field and back in the locker room with my teammates," Sweed said in a statement issued through the team. "I appreciate all the support I received from the Steelers organization while I dealt with some personal issues at the end of the 2009 season. I have been working diligently and I am focused on the remainder of the offseason in getting myself prepared to have a great 2010 season."
Huddle Up: The former second-round selection has a real opportunity in Pittsburgh with Santonio Holmes out of the picture. This assumes, of course, that Ben Roethlisberger won't miss too many games due to the suspension that's likely coming down the pike.

Aaron Wilson, of the National Football Post, reports the Pittsburgh Steelers placed WR Limas Sweed on the reserve/non-football injury list late in the 2009 season with an unspecified illness. The team has not released any details on Sweed's illness, and they have declined to elaborate on the reasons behind Sweed's status remaining under wraps.
Huddle Up: The Steelers' passing game acquitted itself pretty well even without much of a contribution from Sweed, giving them the luxury of letting Sweed handle whatever it is he's dealing with. It could be as simple as Sweed and the team preferring to keep the matter personal, though once OTAs and minicamps start up again more questions will be asked—especially if Sweed is still not on the field.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Monday, Dec. 21, they have placed WR Limas Sweed (illness) on the Reserve/Non-Football Illness list, ending his 2009 season.
Huddle Up: It is doubtful anyone had him on their roster at this point outside of keeper leagues, but just in case, his season is over. This means more action for Mike Wallace.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said it is possible that WR Limas Sweed could be inactive for the team's Week 4 game.
Huddle Up: Sweed has to be on Tomlin's last nerve. He hasn't come close to fulfilling the promise he showed when the Steelers drafted him, and dropped a critical TD pass in Week 3 against the Bengals.
